Car Stall Problems of Kia Motor Sephia - part 1

The contact owns a 1999 kia Sephia. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred seven times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 162,000.

There was an ongoing / intermittent problem with the vehicle stalling while taking off from a stop position or while driving 25 mph or more. The vehicle hesitated before it stalled. Vehicle repeatedly stalls. Taken to the dealtership several times ,and told that the problem did not occur when they had the vehicle; therefore, they are unable to fix. While idling at a stop sign or light vehicle would die out. Would have no warning. Vehicle not able to be restart after stalling out. Had vehicle towed to dealer. Mechanic changed ignition cable, but the problem still exists.

The car has been stalling and starting funny. This car is not running properly. The first time with car would stalling wouldn't go up hill and the engine light come on. The second time car stalled again and caught on fire and went up in smoke. The mechanic said it was the wiring need to be replaced and that the car was running on one vaul. That everything in that section has been burn. And after that the car wouldn't start or say a word. And I was in the middle of the street when it happen. How can 1999 be so much trouble. Consumer never had a problem with engine until recall 99v318000. Since then vehicle will stall, then regain power. Dealer cannot remedy situation.

Engine light came on, car began to idle really high then really low and would stall. Thermostat was replaced only a week later after the dealership supposely called korea.

Vehicle would keep stalling for no reason. Had no warning. Been to dealer & informed by mechanic cause of problem not located. Was told battery was problem & it was replaced. Stalling problem still exist for 6 or more times afterwards.

When starting the engine it would turn over & then vehicle would stall. Once started, vehicle would hesitate. The fuel gauge fails to register fuel intake. Also, vehicle is very hard to shift into gear properly. Took vehicle to dealer to have problems checked. The mechanic replaced the fly wheel & the gas tank.

Since purchase date I have had numerous problems such as vehicle stalling in middle of highway, engine light staying on, radio, air conditioner and most importantly the brakes. The original brakes failed at 5560 miles, replacemts at 7520 miles, again at 10750 miles. This is a major inconvenience and I am afraid an accident will occur.
