Check Engine Light On Problems of Kia Motor Sephia

The contact owns a 2000 kia Sephia. The contact stated that when she depressed the accelerator pedal, the engine would race first and then the vehicle would move forward. The over drive light stayed on and the engine light would blink. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the dealer changed the sensors for the lights. However, the over drive and check engine lights were constantly illuminated. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000. The current mileage was 162,384. Updated 11/03/10.

The check engine light appeared on the dash then the engine slowed down. Dealer has inspected the vehicle several times but could not duplicate or correct the problem.

Check engine light on & o/d light flashes after almost every 300 miles since recall campaign to replace orvr valves was serviced by dealer. O/d light flashes would then follow engine stalling (after driven 150 miles) and would only crank engine but wont start. Also after orvr was replaced, every full tank of fuel ( 12. 7 gals. ) would cause hesitation but would go away after driven for 8 miles . Engine stalling luckily occurred only on street roads but could pose serious risk if it would happen on freeways.

Our kia Sephia 2000 is a lemon. We have had to replace the brakes four times because of premature ware and shaking due to poor design. We received the car with a dead battery. We are on our third battery. We were on our third set of tires before 30,000 miles. The gear shift will stick so that you can not take it out of park. The weather molding is falling off. Check engine light goes on and they could not keep it from coming on.

The brakes squeak and the pads were replaced at 1200 miles, the brakes failed again at 6600 miles the rotors were warped and the pads were worn and I returned the car to northwestern Dodge and kia and they replaced the pads and machined the rotors, however the stering wheel shakes and vibrates when I drive on the expressway and the brakes are still grinding. The stering wheel and column vibrates and shakes when I drive at 50+ mph. At 6600 miles the check engine light illuminated and there is a burning smell. The car dies out when I am at a stand still for no reason and without any warning. I have to start the car at least 3 times before it turns over. Overall I would say that I am disappointed with the car and the moment that I can trade it in I plan to do so and I will advise anyone who is thinking about purchasing this car to not even consider a kia (any model) because they are not well made cars.

While driving and slowing down or turning vehicle would stall. Consumer felt this was a safety issue, took vehicle to dealer, and they were not helping. Consumer also reports smelling ags fumes inside vehicle, and check engine light frequently flashing.

Engine: check engine light comes on and vehicle stalls right in the street with no warning at all. Has been in shop several times for this, and they can't find a problem.

Numerous engine repairs done when brought into dealership after check engine light comes on.

1. Driving car and a piece of exhaust fell off 2. Numerous times car would not start. Taken to dealer twice and they said they could find no problem. 3. While driving vehicle with check engine light on it accelerated at a high rate of speed. This happened again when backing out of driveway.
