Check Engine Light On problems of the 2012 Kia Motor Sorento

My airbag light is just on, I have not been in any accidents or my vehicle has not been hit for the airbag light to be on. My check engine light is on as well. And back wind shield washer fluid is not coming out. When I noticed these issues my car was stationary.

I was driving and the check engine light just started to flash, and the car just died on me. I costed off to the emergency lane and was towed to my garage. I tried to start the car and loud banging and rattling started, it sounds like a crank shaft is being thrown round.

While driving my 2012 kia Sorento on the fwy. The engine stalled with no warning. The check engine light came on. . . I was able to put car in neutral and restart. It ran fine, but check engine light remained on. There was no apparent sounds of engine trouble . . . So I continued my route. The next day it started fine, no bad noises, but check engine light was on. . . I was able to drive for approximately 20 miles until it stalled again while on fwy. Was able to restart, but compression was low on engine, so I pulled off and had it towed to shop. They told me the oil was down 4 qts. And had catastrophic engine failure. My complaint is the oil light never cam on. I've seen other complaints similar to this. . . I'm wondering if you are doing anything to rectify this problem?.

As the vechilce stalling she notice black smoke coming from underneath the hood. The check engine warning light illumniated. The vehice failed to restart and towed to the contact residence. The vechicle was not towed to independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic or repairs. The maniufactor was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage 150,00 vw.

On 1/28/2020 at 8 pm during a snow storm, I had been driving north on hwy 41 and had entered the city of marinette and was driving approximately 20 miles per hour. I made a right turn onto a city street and suddenly with no warning the engine just stopped. No check engine light no nothing. I managed to coast over to the side of the road and attempted without success to restart the vehicle. I contacted kia and was told they would not consider assisting me with any repairs unless the vehicle was inspected by a dealer. I paid $200 to have the vehicle towed approximately 65 miles to dorsch Ford in green bay wisconsin, the dealer where it was purchased. I was informed the engine had seized up and would have to be replaced at my expense for approximately $10,000 as the warranty had recently expired. I contacted kia again to inquire about a safety recall (sc147) that I had learned about online where the 2012 kia Sorento was experiencing catastrophic engine failure due to a machining issue with the engine during manufacturing that caused bearings to wear resulting in engine seizure. I was advised this recall was only for the 4 cylinder models not the 6 cylinder which is what I purchased. I could not afford to purchase a new engine for this vehicle. The dealer offered me $100 to junk it. I paid approximately $30,000 for the car and it was serviced diligently at the dealer. My local mechanic suggested replacing the engine with a used engine with more than 100,000 miles on it for $5000 from another vehicle but was advised I would only have a 90 day warranty and the same thing could happen. I did not think this was a very good idea so the vehicle is sitting in my garage.

Driving to work this past Tuesday 12/24/2019, while driving my car did this jerk move and then all the electrical signs popped up I couldn't brake or steer my stirring wheel . Its as if my car locked up on me. Luckily I was able to turn off a side road avoiding on coming traffic. And but the car in park. I was stuck for 2 hours. My check engine light was the only light that stayed on. I couldn't start the car at all. Luckily I called my cousin to see if she could try and give me a jump too see if it worked. In which it did I then took my vehicle up to auto zone where they out it on the diagnostic machine. Where my battery and alternator were fine. It was very scary for this vehicle to have shut off on me like this I am just glad I was not on the highway or it could have been a really bad outcome for me. Complete engine failure of the kia Sorento. Took the vehicle in for normal oil change and investigation of a noise coming from the front of the vehicle. When technician drove the car on a city street, the engine completely died on the road. Technician pulled off to side of the road and had it taken back to shop. When investigating, found that there was no oil in the engine. No low engine oil pressure or check engine light was present.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, when the vehicle seized in the middle of the road. The contact stated the low oil level, battery and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic. Upon investigation the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was towed local dealer scott harvey kia located at 1710 n olden Ave, ewing township, NJ 08638, (866) 548-4303, where it was diagnosed with needing long or short block needing to be replaced. The vehicle has not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 136,000. Dp.

My car was driving perfectly and then all of a sudden started chugging, driving extremely roughly, and my check engine light came on. I thought it might have to do with the recall on engines like mine so I took it to a kia dealership to have it checked out and explained my concern and the the recall in question had been cleared because it hadn't done anything at the time but now I was concerned that was the issue. They ran my check engine light and told me it was the ignition coils and the fuel injector and that it would cost me about $800 but they wouldn't acknowledge my questions about the recall or show me what the codes were. I took it to autozone to have them run the codes so I could see what they were and it was just the ignition coil and cylinder 4 misfiring and not the fuel injector at all. I got the ignition coils and spark plugs replaced but it's still running rough and cylinder 4 is still misfiring and my car even stalled out on the interstate while I was in the left lane. My car is only 6 years old with 151,000 miles on it. It drove like a dream when I got it and I've taken care of it really well ever since. I'm afraid this issue is out of my hand and has something to do with the current recall or possibly another issue that needs to be recalled.

I started experiencing stalling issues in April 2018, had the dealership that I bought it from inspect it and I was advised to change the crankshaft position sensor and the battery. I changed both and the the motor ran fine for around 3000 miles. I was drivong down the highway at 60mph when the vehicle shut off with no warning, oil lamp or check engine light. The vehicle wouldn't start up after stalling. Towed the vehicle to my brother's house, tried to start it a few days later, when it cranked over there was a horrible screaching sound followed by knocking from the engine. Towed the car into kia in waco and they have denied repairs because my vehicle isn't covered under the recall. I recieved the run around regarding what exactly is broken. The only answer I get is "we know its got broken parts onsode, but we don't know what. " I believe that they didn't even perform an inspection, just denied based on not recalled under VIN. Kia sent me an interim notice as well as another notice stating my engine will be covered for 10 years and 120k miles die to the engine bearing clearance issue. Kia doesn't have a record of notified vehicle owners amd is telling me I'm lying by saying I recieved any notification because they have no record. Its already been proven that kia has hid the defective internal engine parts. I was quoted $7300 for an engine without labor.

Our 2012 kia Sorento started having the exact same problems as all the other motors that were on recall for bad bearings. I never got a check engine light. It would die randomly on me. Once died on me on the freeway with me and my 5yr old. Luckily I was not around anyone or it could have been very tragic. I loved that car, and now it's just sitting at kia dealership collecting dust and not being used with less than 100k miles on it. This is not a owner issue. This is a manufacturing defect. Even the dealership said it was bad bearing and it should be covered. Yet we can't get this issue fixed because they don't want to help us, and yet have all these bad reviews on not wanting to help out their customers. So it's just sitting at the dealership rotting away because we refuse to pay for a manufacturing defect.

The kia was being driven on a highway in June of 2018 when the engine just froze up and stopped working. The check engine light came on after the engine stopped. The car was full of oil and being property maintained. The car was towed to the kia dealership in killeen. Initially, the dealership employee said the kia engine could not be repaired, they said the engine was blown. I called kia corporate and once they were involved, I was told it needed a short block and it could be reapaired. Kia corporate has agreed to pay for just over half the reapair (around $3500) if I pay the other part (around $2500). They keep pushing out the date the new short block will be delivered. After researching kia sorrento recall online, I firmly believe my kia should have been under the recall for the other 2012 kia sorrentos.

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 kia Sorento. The contact had the engine replaced as a result of kia's engine replacement recall and the new engine suddenly burst into flames while travelling 75 mph. The check engine light came on just before and the temperature gauge never moved. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a junkyard. The dealer ray skillman shadeland kia 1300 shadeland Ave, indianapolis, in 46219 was contacted and told the contact call the warranty department. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 77,000. Tf.

As I came around a bend at about 20 mph, my 2012 kia Sorento died. There was no warning, and no check engine light. I was on a city street, and had just pressed the brake pedal to slow down for the turn. Thankfully I was able to pull into a parking lot, and not driving on the highway with my children. I tried to crank the car again, and it started, ran for a brief moment, sounded normal, then died. I tried twice more with the same result, then called a tow truck to get home. We called the dealership the next day to notify them of the issue, and they sent out a tow truck. When they tried to crank it, it ran rough and then died. We are awaiting approval from corporate kia, as we believe that this is related to the engine recall they have issued.

The driver noticed that smoke was emitting under the hood of the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated and a fire erupted under the hood. The contact was waiting to determine a response from the manufacturer to diagnose how the failure occurred. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.

I noticed that upon starting , my kia let out blue smoke. I saw no warning lights, no oil on the ground, no indication of a serious problem other than the smoke. I have a little over 95,000 miles on the car and a 100,000 mile warranty I made an appointment to service the car and have it looked at. Everything was running fine and driving fine. Three days later, the check engine light came on. No other indicators were present. I drove the car a short distance and it seized up while I was traveling at about 45 mph. I changed the oil on a regular basis & did the normal service work. The car was towed to the dealer. The dealer inspected the car and said it needed a new engine and rear end. The rear end would be covered under warranty but the engine would not. I did not have my receipts for oil changes. I am trying to get kia to honor the warranty. They will cover the rear end but not the engine at this point.

Driving on a city highway at approx 40mph, engine died, check engine light came on. Lost power steering etc. Coasted to side of road, car would not restart. Had to call towing company to get it to kia main dealer. Engine had completely seized (spun main bearing). It has had regular maintenance using mobil 1 synthetic oil. Engine was at 111,000 miles and is being replaced under kia 120k mile extended engine warranty.

While driving 70mph on the highway the engine shut down no warning lights, no check engine lights, no warning what so ever. We had a near miss with the person behind us but were able to get to the side of the road without incident. The vehicle would not start. After waiting 15 minutes I was able to get the vehicle to start, it now has a loud clank coming from the engine and still no power. We were stranded unable to drive it. We had it towed to the dealership. The service department looked at it and found metal shavings in the motor, said he has had to fix many of these issues on this particular motor, gdi 2. 4 l and that it is a manufacturing issue nothing we did. The cause was from metal shavings blocking oil passage to the rods and the rod bearings went out causing a catastrophic engine failure without warning.

I was in traffic and the engine stopped running. I noticed that engine stopped with all the indicators on including the check engine light on but my car was not running anymore and will not drive even when I pressed the gas pedal. I put it on park and turned it off and restarted. It started. This happened twice within 10 minutes of each other.
