The problem started after a quick stop at a convenient store on the way to work. After starting the engine the vehicle would not shift from park. I was able to bypass this after a quick internet search by removing a small cover near the stick shut and a small straw to bypass the shift control. I've had the car twice at the mechanics without a diagnosis as to a possible cause and was able to have the mechanic permanently disabled the shift lock but was warned the vehicle could be shifted to drive or neutral at any time and moved with a key. About a month later I found myself without headlights and shortly after this without wiper controls. Another visit to my mechanic would this time show the problems, shift lock, headlights and wipers were all from a faulty pcm. My mechanic has shipped my pcm out twice for repair but both time only caused the replacement part to blow. It's not suggested they use the dealer to further repair the problem. I've been 3 weeks without my vehicle and it's another week before the earliest availability from my local dealer. I'm only hoping now it's not a long backorder to gets the parts necessary to fix my vehicle. I have also read this has been a common problem and costly repair with other 2016 kia Sorento owners.

The contact owns a 2019 kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated and shuddered. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission control module (tcm). The mechanic determined that the transmission needed to be flush and the tcm needed to be reprogrammed to the factory settings. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.

Car is jerking into 2nd gear while driving which causes tension on neck and back. Transmission also slips while accelerating. Tcm needs to be updated but dealership can't do it without a notice.

My vehicle started running hot after driving down the highway and kept cutting off out of the blue. Then I checked all the coolant and radiator to see if fluid was leaking no sign of a crack. Then took it to o'reillys auto parts because check engine lighr shows codes p0087, defected transmission fluid temperature sensor, defected pcm/tcm. Poor connector and the fuel rail pressure sensor. After having it towed to kia they open it up and said I needed a new engine and my head gasket was cracked. And.
Pcm recall. Vehicle stalls at stops and slowing of vehicle. August 6 turned off engine would not restart after parking in driveway and turning engine off. August 4 and 5, 2018 vehicle stalled when I was coming to a stop on the road in town.

My 2013 sorrento has stalled 2 times in the last 2 weekson the freeway. When bringing it to the dealer there are no ebngine codes. I see that from 2011 to 2013 there has been a pcm update for this issue sc106. And dealer states my VIN is not on the list even tho it falls into the year catagory. I will continue to go to the dealer. This is unsafe when you lose brakes and steering while on the freeway.
The contact owns a 2012 kia Sorento. The contact stated that there was a random progressing failure in which the vehicle randomly stalled. The vehicle would not restart and was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the pcm may need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that there was no manufacturer recall repair. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing and repair. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v626000 (power train). The vehicle was unable to be safely driven. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.

While driving along a rural road at 50 to 55 mph, on five separate occasions over the last 3 years, our 2011 kia Sorento has suddenly and harshly downshifted from sixth gear to about fourth gear. When this occurs, the jar is similar to having hit a large animal in the road and the entire car shakes. The transmission will not shift up or down after this event and stays in that lower gear until the vehicle is turned off, then turned back on. After doing so, the transmission shifts properly. The vehicle has been to the dealer four times, two of which there were no codes showing from transmission operation. A transmission temperature sensor was replaced, with no further events for over a year. The latest episode delivered a code p0748 and the service technician completed a tsb038 tcm upgrade. The vehicle has only 27,000 miles.

Shortly after buying SUV in 2009 we experienced "querky" stuff like doors relocking, dome light s coming on, back hatch unlocking all this happening on their own!! I kept telling the dealership at oil changes! they kept ignoring it all! Nov 1, 2009 kia electric system service bulletin #282603 (ts b-044) issued. September the check engine and esc off lights started coming on together, SUV immediately decends to 15-20 mph! you can¿t give it gas, only rpms rise high! gas is eaten up! coast to side, sit a few to 20 minutes. Maybe both or esc off light(s) go out and you proceed. Have noticed a buck feeling before light(s) are coming on at times. Check engine lights may stay on for a while or not. Habitually erratic when lights come on, can be every mile to several miles! last week SUV with out these lights started running real rough at idle and driving. To the point of reving over 2000 rpms but acted like being held back! I have been reluctant to drive it much in fear of the advancing issues and hurting the power train! at idle range is 300 ¿ 1,800+ rpms, mechanic witnessed the varying rpms when code 1611 (time out:ecm, pcm, tcm issue) came up on snap-on¿s code reader. SUV has baby miles of 29,884 now 30,004 today. All SUV¿s on forums are over 50,000 miles! ~ low idle kia calls for tps replacement ~ September 7, 2011. My SUV throws p1295/p2135/p2106 codes listed in this! calls for the ecm be reprogramed using the gds (global diagnostic system). Ref: 044 bulletin. Driving you can feel the engine slow down to almost stalling but catches itself and keeps running. 1st time this happened I was doing 55mph and found I was slowing real fast with traffic coming up behind me. I now have to ride with 4 way flashers to be safe! chk eng on when key is turned on at times now. Towed 1x, drive a mile sit minutes repeat'd 8x. Issues are progressing!.

I had the vehicle in the dealership just below 100,000 miles. They didn't bother to tell me the transmission control module was messed up and needed replaced. This seems to be an issue with several people. And then to find out this is a dealer only part and over 900. 00! I think this was poor customer service and they should've known something was wrong. The gear shift wasn't sitting in drive and not shifting correctly. I doubt I'd ever buy another kia because their service sucks! they don't value their customers and that really makes me uneasy.
