Kia Motor Sorento owners have reported 3 problems related to axle shaft (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Kia Motor Sorento based on all problems reported for the Sorento.
In late December of 2017 I began to notice that my car started to vibrate upon acceleration of more than 55 mph. I took the car in for a suspension analysis to pep boys at 3124 sepulveda blvd in torrance, CA and they evaluated my issue. It was discovered in my front wheel drive vehicle with 115,000 miles that the right front axle shaft was broken and was making a clicking noise. And also that on the left front driver's side that the boot had leaked all the grease out and that all the boots and the axles required replacement. The mechanics at pep boys told me that this happens frequently on the kia's and that they have more issues than most car manufacturers. I also discovered that Kia Motors had had a known issue with axle problems in their 2014 Sorentos. Kma has determined that the right front axle drive shaft of affected vehicles may develop a crack in the area of the stub at the wheel-end of the shaft. Should this occur, the vehicle may lose power or, if the driver fails to engage the parking brake when parked on an incline, the vehicle may roll. The vehicles having this condition are the 2014 model year Sorento 2. 4-liter front-wheel-drive (fwd) model produced through March 12, 2013. I purchased my vehicle in late may of 2014 it is a 2. 4 liter fwd vehicle. I also went online to check for known recalls and nothing came up nor was I ever notified. I have had no accidents or other issues that would have caused this to happen. Kma never notified me that I should have the right front axle driveshaft will be replaced. Consequently, I believe that I should not have to bear the expense of replacing my front wheel drive boot and axle at a cost of $695. 00. This cost should have been paid for by kia.

I have repeatedly contacted kia corporate and the dealership regarding an axle issue. It is the same exact issue that nhsta has issued a recall notice for 2014 model vehicles. My axle is in jeopardy of fracturing - company will not repair the issue because they say 2013s aren't covered. Summary: Kia Motors corp. Is recalling certain model year 2014 front wheel drive Sorento vehicles manufactured January 7, 2013, through March 12, 2013; and equipped with 2. 4 liter engines. Due to a manufacturing issue, the right front axle shaft may fracture.

I have a 2003 kia Sorento that I purchased in September of 2003. I bought the Sorento with 5000 miles on it and from the time I got it home, it developed problems. Everytime I start my Sorento and put it in drive or reverse and back-up or drive forward, I hear this awful hum noise from the front of the car that the dealership says is normal that it's the abs resetting itself and that it's sometimes noisier in some Sorento's than in other's (no other Sorento owner that I know has this noise) I felt a vibration when I was driving on the highway and it would happen between 68 and 72 mph. It would not vibrate if I was driving above or below this speed. So I called the dealership and they told me to rotate and balance my tires and I told them that I already did that. Well come to find out after I had to put it into the shop, they replaced the whole drive shaft, it was bent (manufacturer defect they said. ) second, my console broke and the lights went out inside my car, still waiting on that to be fixed, have had to replace the headlight lights twice thus far. Rear windshield wiper keeps getting stuck even after having the dealership adjust it.
