Manual Transmission Problems of Kia Motor Sorento

I bought a 2004 kia Sorento in 2006 finished paying for it in 2010,over the years I have had to change the lights so many times I cant count,I have had topaint it twice,then the driving shaft broke,the compressor was changed twice, the cd player works on and off the air bags light came on and stayed for months on end the engine light does the same and most recently there is smoke coming from the engine, I am having to stop park and let it cool off before continuing on my journey, at the moment I got scared and I now I have my vehicle parked at home because I am scared to drive it, it is a shame and I am very upset. Is there anyone out there who is trying to do something about these problems us consumers are having? I own my vehicle and has a clean title and would like to trade in or sell but with all these problems how can I pass it on to someone else? I am asking someone from kia to do the responsible thing and give us some answers before someone loses their life,that is if it hasn't happened already. Don't let this be Toyota.

I have 2 complaints. 1) I have complained about the front passenger air bag not coming on when an adult is seated in it. I have taken it to 2 different kia shops 5 times since 1200 miles and was told it is operating normal. Normal is when an adult sits in it, not when you place a purse on the seat or whenever it decides to work. I am following the manual and still no satisfaction with repair. 2) at 1200 miles I also complained that the car would buck, stick in 3rd gear, and not shift till it red lines. This does not happen all the time and I was told by kia that unless the "check engine" light comes on they can not find the problem. Even after the #1 repair tech in the world for kia experienced the not shifting till it red lines for himself. I was told the only thing they could do is reprogram the computer. They have reprogrammed it 4 times the problem is still there. I have 22 repair invoices for this car since I purchased it. I am fighting on a daily basis with kia to repair this car. It is a shame to say but I feel someone is going to get hurt or worst killed before kia fixes these issues!.

2004 kia Sorento manual transmission transmission locks up randomly. I am unable to change gears. The shift stick moves to the various positions but the car remains in gear. This occurs while driving or stopped and trying to upshift or downshift . I have had the vehicle to the kia dealer on three occasions, but they are not able to duplicate the problem and hence, can do nothing about it. Last occurrence, on 3/27/2008, had vehicle towed to the dealer, however they said that it was not locked up when they drove it. No help from kia customer service either.

My fiance' and I have recently started experiencing some issues with our 2005 manual transmission. For some reason, from a stop, the car will not move forward once it is on gear. It just won't move. I can take it in and out of gear and it still won't move. I can try it in first or second and still nothing. The work around we figured out is to put it in reverse and maybe move it backwards just a little bit and we are then able to put the car in first and move forward like normal. It has actually happened to her three times in the past week, once last week and twice today. I was able to get to the car last week the first time it happened and saw the issue first hand. I am going to kia about this, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or experienced this issue with the 2005 manual transmission, or any year transmission for that matter. The problem is that this has happened on busy roads and intersections in the middle of rush hour. We are worried that it will happen while she is moving or changing gears. This has to be some sort of safety issue. The car is going to kia tomorrow to have the issue addressed.
