1 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 08/26/2011

I was starting off from stop sign and felt and heard a loud thud from the engine area. Immediately the 2012 Sorento lost power and would not shift. It would continue to move at about 5 mph. The engine did not stop. I stopped the vehicle and restarted but with the same symptoms. Being very close to the dealer, I took it in. The sales dept has agreed to find another vehicle and replace this one. I'm not so sure. . .

2 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2004 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 03/21/2011

I bought a 2004 kia Sorento in 2006 finished paying for it in 2010,over the years I have had to change the lights so many times I cant count,I have had topaint it twice, then the driving shaft broke, the compressor was changed twice, the cd player works on and off the air bags light came on and stayed for months on end the engine light does the same and most recently there is smoke coming from the engine, I am having to stop park and let it cool off before continuing on my journey, at the moment I got scared and I now I have my vehicle parked at home because I am scared to drive it, it is a shame and I am very upset. Is there anyone out there who is trying to do something about these problems us consumers are having? I own my vehicle and has a clean title and would like to trade in or sell but with all these problems how can I pass it on to someone else? I am asking someone from kia to do the responsible thing and give us some answers before someone loses their life, that is if it hasn't happened already. Don't let this be Toyota.

3 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 06/14/2010

*altered mileage , * drive and emissions, checked engine light on, fuel cap replaced, 2 journal prefixes, repair kit wiring, brace added for wires to keep from touching tail pipe, transmission gears had to be replaced due to my vehicle not being able to shift to the next gear, and getting stuck in gears keeping me from being mobile in traffic. My windows get stuck in positions all the time when leaving drive thru windows etc. And I have to pull over, stop the car, turn it off and restart a couple of times. *although shift gears have been replaced, my vehicle (with my family in it thank god at safe speeds) will not shift/go to the next gear, becoming immobile. If parking at a store, work etc. Often I can not put my vehicle into park, it remains stuck in drive often making me late for appointments. My dashboard/clusters were replaced behind the steering wheel area due to signal lights not working. My odometer was replaced on my kia Sorento altering the actual mileage (my ¿speedometer replacement record¿ on the inside was filled in by an authorized kia dealer). Now we have yet another recall on my vehicle for adding front spring protection recall # sc091. I'm sure I have left off a couple of repairs, but this is just ridiculous. I bought a new car so I could avoid constant waiting at vehicle repair/service departments. I really wish they would just replace my 2011 vehicle; I do not want to be cut short when trading my vehicle some years from now due to an inaccurate odometer reading and transmission problems.

4 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 04/27/2010

2011 kia Sorento [xxx], having issues with vehicle pulling off to the right while driving at various speeds on various roads/highways. Said vehicle was brought back to dealership service department to look at alignment. Service department's work resulted in vehicle alignment worse than before. Returned vehicle back to dealer service department, had several (dealership service advisor, dealership service manager, kia district service manager) all look at and drove vehicle and noticed issue. Dealership service manager stated that he drove several other 2011 Sorento's and noticed a couple of 4 cylinder versions with same issue, and one without the issue. Dealership service manager contacted sister dealership and was informed that they also had a similiar issue with one of their 2011 Sorento's. Dealership service department and district manager states vehicle has been put back to factory specs, however, upon customer driving vehicle again along with the dealeship service manager, the said vehicle still pulls to the right significantly. Case number ([xxx]) has been established by kia consumer headquarters. Field tech rep has been contacted to look into vehicle issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 03/11/2010

Something loose on right front wheel of my 2011 kia Sorento. There is a clunking sound like something is wrong. Kia claims they are all like that but a new car should not fall apart after 3000 miles.

6 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 02/18/2010

Took possession of 2011 kia sorrento on 2-18-2010. Since that time there have been 14 instances when the car hesitated almost dying out and then surging forward. At one time it died completely out and had to be restarted while being in the lane of oncoming traffic. Twice it hesitated and surged ahead 4 - 5 consecutive times before settling down, once while crossing over a 4 lane highway. It has been back to the kia dealership 3 times and they cannot duplicate the problem, so they claim we do not have a problem. We are very concerned about this and believe it is a safety issue and my wife will not drive the car until this is resolved. Updated 03/16/10 updated ivoq 07/16/jb.

8 Power Train Driveline problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 02/19/2004

Bought 2003 Sorento July 1, 2003. Soon after the back brakes or something after braking would "clunk". Whether is was after releasing brakes or seconds later it would "clunk" (dealer keeps saying it 'pops', it clunks). First time in they didnt feel it they said. Second time they felt it and then said they didnt know what it was and would contact kia about it-----this third time---they say its normal for the vehicle. Fter the first time in the shop for the 'clunking' the serious vibration on the highway began to be felt starting at 68 mph and worsening at 70 mph. . . . . Took it in and the dealership said it was the tires and they balanced them-----now the vibration is worse and you feel it at 60 mph and at 68 mph it is really noticable. Took in into the shop 02/19/04. . . . Dealship drove it and then just told us it was normal on the vehicle---some guy last fall had the vibration worse---and said kia cant fix it. Well, we didnt take that answer and is now being investigate. Two field kia investigators just drove it before my husband arrived at the dealership. They told my husband they didnt feel really anything. He told them to get in the vehicle and now drive with him---the investigators all of a sudden said they felt something. . . . . Now they are going to look at seeing what it is. Both kia and the dealership are dragging this out. . . . . . Call kia's consumer affairs office (or whatever it is called) and they say they have no reports of these problems. The dealership tells us they kia tells them it is normal. I am afraid to drive the vehicle and left it all weekend at the dealership! my daughters life is at stake driving it like that if something falls off or something. I am afraid that kia or the dealership will have more experience and able to cover things so that we can not file for the lemon law. . . . . . . . . . . Help!!!.
