The end of October 2018 my 2014 kia Sorento motor blew up. We heard the knocking on a weekend, kia said to bring it in and it stalled halfway there. Had to call my insurance because kia would not pay for towing. My kia had been checked the year before for the engine recall, of course it passed. It took 2 months to get my car back, they did provide a rental. A month later (Jan. 2019) I smelled gasoline very strong in my car. Had my husband test drive it to make sure that is what it was because I had just put in a full tank of gas. Sure enough I called warner kia of parkersburg again, once again refused towing even though I already knew about the issue with the fuel lines from the engine replacement. I had to call kia consumer affairs to get this car towed to warner kia. Turns out they forgot to replace a bracket during the engine replacement, not very Smart in my opinion for so called certified mechanics. I got it back again Feb. 2019. Now it is March 2019, my transmission appears to be slipping, hesitating to pick up speed. I almost got hit by a semi trying to get onto the interstate because car would not go fast enough. My uncle tried to see if he could check my transmission fluid and of course it is encased, but while doing this he noticed the engine coolant was very low. The level is below l. My engine was just replaced not too long ago and it was in the shop again for more work just last month. I am beyond frustrated. I have made concerns with kia consumer affairs and have not gotten anywhere. I will owe on this car for another 2 years and it looks like it won't last. Also upside down on loan. Now I am scared that my car will catch on fire or cause an accident with my children in my car all because kia can not make better vehicles or at least try to reimburse their customers to keep them happy. I want a new car, and I want kia to pay for it and others vehicles.

The Sorento lurches at slower speeds and engine light comes on. It appears as if the transmission is slipping. At higher speeds it does not occur. The code from the engine light analysis is p0713 (transmission fluid temperature sensor). Kia forum shows a number of people have similar complaints.

Started vehicle and put into reverse, once in reverse I began to back up, the gear slips out of reverse into neutral. If placed back into gear park, reverse or drive it pauses for a few seconds then shifts hard with a clank sound. If you proceed to drive it shifts like it is going from first to third gear. It will not correct itself once driving. Sometimes when this happens I can turn the vehicle off and restart it and it works fine with no slipping or shifting problems, the check engine light does not come on. However today it will not correct itself and the check engine light has come on.
2013 kia Sorento lx - v6 awd purchased 3/2013. On 10/19 at 11. 5k miles on vehicle the transmission slipped and then lost most function at 45 mph . Car limped home with check engine light on and spewing fluid. He next morning (sat)called kia roadside service and had car towed to nearest dealer. The dealer took vehicle and notified me later in the day transmission would be and ordered on Monday. I was notified that car would be repaired with new trans and car would be ready on wed. The dealer called me a said the water pump was corroded and was out of coolant. A water pump was replaced and trans. I picked up the car on thurs and noticed fluid under the car the next morning. Took the car back to the dealer the next morning, he stated they overfilled and now the problem solved (fri) y confidence shaken and not feeling safe, I traded in the vehicle (got fair market value) ,for a leased newer model. I have lost $7,000 for owning the vehicle 7. 5 months, with 11. 5k miles. I am arguing with Kia Motors foursome compensation, but their attitude is they will not do anything, suggested dealer discussion. I am continuing a dialoguewith kia, they need to be responsible.

Automatic transmission slips on show upshifts, intermittently. Began @ 3500 miles. Check engine light came on. Code initially read as "transmission temp light fluid". Dealer reset code, could not duplicate problem. Check engine light recurred with same code for "transmission fluid temperature sensor". Continued intermittent problems with sluggish upstarts at low speeds and hard shifts into gear. Intermittent problems with check engine light displaying for 24 hours and then disappearing without storing code. Dealer replacing transmission @ 4800 miles.
