Check Engine Light On problems of the 2012 Kia Motor Soul

The contact owns a 2012 kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle started to decelerate and lose forward momentum. The contact stated that with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 mph. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the local mechanic who had the vehicle towed to southwest kia - dallas (39650 lyndon b johnson fwy, dallas, TX 75237, (972) 283-9797) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced due to a connecting rod failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 154,000.

As I was driving on the street, the car cut off in the middle of an intersection. Another motorist helped push car to safety. The car would not start without a jump, and when it was running, the engine was shaking. The check engine light was on and blinking. There was a smell coming from the exhaust.

Car lost power on highway and was unable to accelerate. Check engine light was flashing. Had car towed to gerald kia north aurora to have them evaluate car to see if it was a result of the catalytic converter recall. In 9/ 2017 dealership advised me that the catalytic converter needed replacement with a stored error code of p0420. I was told there was no rush to replace the converter since it was related to emissions. I was quoted a repair fee of $1630. Replaced converter in 4/2018 and again in 3/2019 at reputable shop. Dealership is stating the car is not eligible for the recall since I am "out of warranty". Car was diagnosed with p3301 and p3303 failure. According to recall I have a stored p0420 code and active p300x codes. They should replace the short block according to the recall documents. Dealership is refusing to issue a tech line and honor recall. Nohere on the paperwork does it state that the vehicle needs to be in "warranty"- if that was the case why did they inform me in 9/2019 there was a recall and my computer software needed to be updated. - I would be out of "warranty" nowhere on the recall paperwork kia filed does it state that only kia can replace a catalytic converter. Very frustrating that the dealership is not consumer driven. I have escalated this to kia corporate and am waiting for their response to see if they will honor their recall.

Tl-the contact owns a 2012 kia Soul. The contact stated that the while driving at 55 mph the check engine light came on. The contact pulled over and he smelled a strong fuel odor. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer beaverton kia 12520 sw canyon rd, beaverton, or 97005 (503) 526-2131 who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. They stated that the engine had a broken valve in the number # 3 cylinder. The dealer quoted the replacement cost for a new engine was $6000. The VIN tool showed one NHTSA recall number : 19v-120000 (engine and engine cooling) . The contact called the manufacturer and they stated that the dealer had fixed another recall but did not mention the recall found on the VIN tool. The vehicle was still at the dealer with repairs not done yet. The failure mileage was 144,000. Tf.

Car is jerking/bucking and misfiring while idle and when driving it jerks. Car check engine light constantly turns on and off on its own.

2012 kia Soul, check engine light comes on and off intermittently, had condition checked by nalley kia dealer was told that the catalytic converter needed replacement told me the cost for them to repair, I was unable to pay that amount. . . One week later recall came out (surely they new about the recall). . . Took it back to dealer twice. . . That I bought it new from (ed voyles kia) keep getting subterfuge. . . Told the part will not be in until July 7th (2 plus months away). . . Called kia district office twice for a solution since car is increasingly getting worse. . . . Gave me a reference number and they never returned my call. Concerned that this engine will catch fire as well. . . Told by ed voyles kia dealer that they don't do loaner cars for recall repairs??!!.

8-31-13 is the first time I went into the dealership to complain about the car accelerating when I would first start the car up in the garage and then when I was driving it would jerk into another gear. They reset the adaptive learning system. 10-9-13, is the 2nd time I went to dealership with the similar situation, but the car would seem like it was shifting from 1st to 2nd while I was actually driving. They checked transmission fluid levels and they thought it was low (they told me this is nonserviceable area and they had to access the cover which is bolted). They filled the transmission fluid and said to watch and check next time I have an oil change. 10-11-13, on way to work, car was being driven to work (30-45 mph, city driving) when it seemed like it was holding its breath,,,suddenly downshifted on it's own. Got to office. When leaving for the day, car was jerking as it was shifting from first to 2nd and seemed to not engage properly. Happened a couple of times at speeds less than 40 mph. Then noticed the equivalent of a check engine light came on and stayed on. Called dealership before I got home and asked if I could come in first thing in the morning. Will be taking to dealership in morning. This is similar situation that someone else previously reported to this site on 8-10-13 for kia Soul 2012.
