The engine is making a ticking noise and the steering wheel is clicking when I turned the steering wheel also had 3 open recalls. Took it to all star kia in san bernardino for 3 recalls and they refused to work on the vehicle because they said they were not comfortable working on the car, they also stated that the ticking sound was not related to the recall even though I told them I saw on the NHTSA website that due to catalytic coverter overheating it could cause rod knock. I even told them the recall was sc176.
The engine made a popping sound and burst into flames.
Tl- the contact owned a 2012 kia Soul. The contact stated that while her daughter was stopped at an intersection, the vehicle began to make an abnormal, ticking sound without warning. As the contact's daughter attempted to accelerate, the vehicle stalled also without warning. Upon restart of the engine, the contact's daughter was alerted by a fellow motorist that her vehicle had caught on fire(fire origin unknown). The contact's daughter immediately exited the vehicle and called for assistance. The fire department arrived at the scene and the fire was extinguished. The contact's mother believed that a fire report was filed but was not certain; no injuries were suffered due to the fire. Due to the fire, the vehicle was destroyed at the scene and towed to an independent tow yard. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA recall number 19v120 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that she was never notified of the recall prior to the failure. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and the contact was given a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000. Jo.
I was driving my car on the freeway, I got off on my exit. When I came up to the red light my car stalled and shut off. I turned my car back on and it wouldnt start so I tried again and it turned on but had a ticking sound. I got home and checked my oil and my oil was completely gone. I didnt have any oil light or engine light on. I took my car in and there is a recall sc176. Kia said my engine wasnt affected due to the recall. They said they dont know the cause of the problem and would have to tear the engine apart. They recommended I replace with a engine long block and it wouldnt be covered under the recall. Everything described in the recall is exactly what happened when I was driving. Im very lucky I wasnt on the freeway when this occured because I had my 3 young children in the car with me.
When you go to turn on the car it stalls as if the starter does not work after 2 tries it turns on only the rpms does not move and the car shakes very violently so I stop turn the car off and then on and no problem only when at a light or stopped in drive-thru the car will turn off no power you turn it on again and everything is good for a little while then it does the same over and over again. The check engine light goes on and off when I took the car to the kia dealership in pueblo they said it was an old code not to worry yet the car gives me trouble still and makes a weird clicking noise when I turn off.
While driving to a family function in kentucky our 2012 kia Soul started making a very loud clacking noise as it tried to maintain the 55mph speed limit while going uphill. When we pulled off we checked oil levels and checked the noise, it was much louder than the lifter noises and seemed to be a possible rod issue. After paying for a tow we contacted the kia dealership in pikeville and was told that our kia Soul was not under their recall. If the 1. 6l gdi engine is recalled for any model in this model year should it not be applied to all models? kia doesn't seem to want to help in any way.
A loud ticking noise developed in the engine this spring. It was diagnosed by a kia technician as worn connecting rod/crankshaft bearings. I have performed regular recommended maintenance, including oil changes, within manufacturer's guidelines. The noise began subtly and worsened over time. It can be heard when the vehicle is stationary and at all speeds. It is loudest while accelerating and is faint while coasting. My specific vehicle is 2012 kia Soul+ (plus) which has a nu 2. 0-liter gdi engine. The same engine in other vehicles and different engine in this vehicle have been recalled for this same problem. I believe this is an error in manufacturing and should be recalled because of the safety hazard it presents (engine fire).
I started my Soul after work on 7. 7. 2017 and what started as a slight clicking noise from the engine bay increased as I got on to the highway a few minutes later the engine stopped as I was traveling down the highway at 65-70 mphil. The engine light first illuminated when the engine stopped, then all of the panel lights lit up. I had it towed 25 miles to a mechanic I trust. When he assessed the car he let me know the horrible news that the engine had locked up, and he could not immediately tell me why. As of the day of the incident I had owned it for exactly 5 years and 3 days. It has approximately 76,000 miles and had regular maintenance.
