Passenger air bag sensor light has come on and stayed on. Took to autozone and have them put it on the code reader and said it was something faulty in the sensor mat under the seat.

I first noticed my air bag light (the one by the clock) coming on and off when my granddaughters weight went from under weight to appropriate weight to ride in the front seat. It would come on and off as she would adjust herself or move around in the seat. Sometimes it would stay on or sometimes it would stay off. When that light stopped coming on and off the one in the dash console where the speedometer is, that light has been coming on and staying on warning there's a problem with the airbag according to the manual. I entered my VIN number because I know kia has had problems with some of there airbags but my VIN number was not listed. I did go by an auto parts house to make sure that was indeed the airbag warning light and I was told that the airbag may or maynot go off in a cash or it could go off at anytime. This is very dangerous if I was told correctly and felt that this needed to be looked into further. Thank you.

The passenger air bag has failed. The dash light stays on due to issue and the air bag itself stays off per the light on the airbag on/off alert. I contacted the dealership who quoted me over $100 just to take a look at it, but was told this seems to be an issue with Spectras that they see pretty commonly.

Letter from senator roberts inquiry on behalf of constitute in regards to her mother's 2009 kia Spectra airbags deployed too much force and injured her mother. The consumer stated the driver died as a result of injuries from the airbag during the crash. The manufacturer was notified.

My mother rear ended another car on 3-6-18. My mom, lois warnick, died 3-13-18 from injuries inflicted by an airbag deploying. It broke all her facial bones including her jaw. It tore an artery on the left side of her brain and bruised the right side of her brain. Brain surgery was done but she could not recover from her injuries. She was driving a 2009 kia Spectra. I have read articles that kia bags will deploy with greater force in some accidents. The wreck was her fault. That does not make it ok for her to be killed by the airbag. Takata recall contacted local kia and referred to national phone 1-800-333-4542 where a representative (jessica) stated that kia does not use takata airbags on any of their vehicles; therefore, no need to replace. End of conversation.

This vehicle had an air bag recall and was preformed. Our service department sent this vehicle (with a air bag lamp on) to the local dealership to be diagnosed. The diagnosis from ferguson kia at tulsa ok told me that the same components that was used for the recall are now defective and causing the air bag lamp to come on. I contacted kia hotline 1-800-333-4542 and filed a case (case no. 12421844). A kia representative called back and told me they were not going to repair or provide the parts to repair the air bag. I requested for kia to re-evaluate this case. Kia never called back. Now the local dealership has threaten to haul the vehicle away or for our department to come and get this vehicle. 2009 kia Spectra air bag won't turn off. Car has 48000 miles. Afraid to take in for repair after reading of cost to repair. I just don't the funds to get it repaired.

Because of a defect in the seats the airbags do not operate. The dealership said the seats would need to be replaced at a cost of $1400 per seat.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 kia Spectra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph a second vehicle crashed into the front drivers side of the vehicle. During the crash the air bags deployed but the driver suffered 1st degree burns on the both arms and right hand from chemicals used in the air bags. The front passenger also suffered a injured right hand and shoulder from the air bag deployment. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage was 35,000. Jft.

My air bag is off, I went to kia and had it replace they said that I have to replace my car seat. My car seat is okay, what I was complaining why my air bag is off?.

I no longer have the car, so I cannot provide the VIN number at this time. (I can get it, with some work involved). I have pictures of the car after the crash. I live in rural iowa. Deer start their rut in October. I swerved to miss a deer, on a two lane road. Went down a 40 foot ditch, nose first. Because the bottom of the ditch was a gully, the front of the roof, the hood, the front lights, etc. Were all destroyed. Not one of their airbags deployed. They are not a part of the news round of airbags, but I want this on record. Again, I can supply pictures, and it will be obvious that at least one of the 8 airbags should have deployed. Please, look into the 2007 kia Spectra's air bags. Look to see if others have had the same problem. I would appreciate it very much. I am not looking for money, I bought the car for my daughter (when she was six, with the ten year warranty, I intended to pass it on to her, when she got her license. . . . . Boy am I glad I was involved in the crash, and not her, seeing is how that is the exact reason why I decided to buy the kia.

Air bag liht came on. Took to dealer, folsom kia in folsom CA. Was informed it was the passenger seat mat and it needed to be replaced. Part # 88202-2f7031931. Cost with discount approxamitly 1750. 00. Informed this is a hazardous situation. Upon doing a search on the internet I have found quite a few comlaints on this same issue. Those are from people who know about complaint forums. I suspect a flaw in the system. Since this is a safety situation, this should be investugated further.

As I was driving my 2007 kia Spectra out of nowhere all my emergancy lights came on and my car locked up and turned off while I was exiting the freeway. The steering wheel locked up and I could not turn it to get my car off the road. I then had to put my car in park turn the egnichin off then restart it. This has happened more than 3 different times. Also as I am driving, my car starts to slow down like it starves for gas and I have to step on the gas and push the pedal down all the way before it will eventually pick up and go.

On January 31, 2014, I was driving home from work and was in a head-on collision. The other driver was at fault. The air bags in my 2006 kia Spectra did not deploy! the police officer also documented this in the police report. I contacted kia on February 1, 2014 with photographs and the police report. It is now March 13, 2014 and they have not resolved the problem. I am concerned that there are other kia Spectra owners who are unaware of this problem. There was never a recall about the air bags.

Takata recall I am checking on my 2008 kia Spectra and the air bags. My car has been wrecked 3 times. One of those accidents my daughter slid off the road in a snow storm and hit a tree. With all three accidents the air bags never went off. Was just concerned. I see no recalls on the air bags. I've attached pictures of the accident.

My vehicle began experiencing intermittent issues with the air bag "off" illuminating with a passenger sitting in the front seat. This has happened on a half dozen occasions that I have noticed and goes off when the passenger adjusts their sitting position. The vehicle surges intermittently when stopped. Additionally brake pedal has stuck on a few occassions when the engine is cool. The vehicle will also cut out on occassion when driving down the road. I put it in neutral to restart, and continue driving. These all happen intermittently with no apparent rhyme or reason to them.

I was traveling on the highway and fell asleep behind the wheel. I was told that during the time of me falling asleep I was traveling around 90 miles and hour. I suddenly woke up to a sign saying to get over to the next lane due to a sweeper truck cleaning the highway. I remember slowing down all of a sudden and hearing my tires making a loud noise. According to the police report I hit the drivers side fender and my car began spinning around to only be cut of my car with the jaws of life, then being life flighted to the nearest hospital. None of my airbags deployed in the vehicle. My steering wheel ended up sitting on my armrest and my dashboard ended shifting forward towards me with the left side of my dashboard completely falling on my leg. I wanted to share my info with someone so kia can check into these faulty issues.

This vehicle has numerous air bags, being t-boned by a semi truck at 30 mph none of the air bags deployed. There was approximately 5 inches of intrusion, as well the frame of vehicle between the doors was touching the driver seat, but none of the side impact air bags, or pelvic air bag deployed.

My brother was in a automotive accident. He lost control of his vehicle hit a concrete median, his brakes stop working and his air bags didn't deploy. This is all stated in his police report. He was air lifted to the hospital where doctors inform the family he broke both his legs and arms. He had to have an operation in his skull to relieve pressure in his brain. As of now nothing has been correct.

I started to have issues with my seat belt's and I called the dealer and took it in and they said they couldn't find an issue I continue to have problem's took it back several time's and they said the same thing now my seat belt's in the back of my car do not work at all I took it back and they said it was out of warranty that I would have to pay for it. Then after that I started having an issue with my passenger side seat and air bag the light on the dash next to the clock wouldn't go off or it just flickered and the air bag icon with the person on it came on and hasn't went off I told them about this issue as well and the said they couldn't find a problem but now that the light next to the clock has gone out and the person icon with the air bag on my dash just stay's on I took it to them and they said I would have to buy a passenger seat for $1,900. 00 because my warranty for that part was up. I feel that they should fix these issues because they are a safety issue and I transport small children in my car.

The contact owns a 2009 kia Spectra. While driving 25 mph she reached in the rear of the vehicle to grab a baby cup, which caused her to accidentally hit the infant. Subsequently she rear-ended another vehicle. The vehicle was completely destroyed and none of the air bags deployed. She sustained injuries police report was filed. '08 kia Spectra hit across right front & slammed in right quarter panel. Vehicle equipped with 6 air bags. . . Non of which deployed. Wife suffered fractures to all her ribs & sternum and a broken left arm. Nine days in shock trauma in baltimore, two weeks in rehab hospital and now getting rehab help at home.

Kia automobiles places the airbag wiring and circuits inside their seat cushions without proper insulation to safeguard against electrical "shorts" and/or fires. For a while now, kia owners like myself have experienced electrical shorts for the airbag(s), there is a manufacturer defect that improperly insulates the wiring and circuitry for the airbags that is stored within the seat cushion. Even should a minor beverage spill occur on the cushion, or the occasional spill that happens to all drivers/passengers from time to time, kia tells us that we are responsible for causing the airbag failure by virtue of the spill. Should we get injured in an accident. . . . It's our own fault. . . Not kia's. I say that kia. . . . . Not the consumer,,,is responsible for improperly insulating their wiring and circuits and placing those wires and circuits in the most illogical place without proper insulation. Had kia taken the time, effort and expense to engineer a better vehicle, airbag functions would certainly not be suspect. I say. . . Recall the kias to better insulate the airbag wiring that is inside the seat cushion. . . What do you think? should a soda or water spill on a seat cushion jeopardize lives?.

2008 kia Spectra, the parking lights come on by their self when its around outside and when its around outside the alarm want set the lights just blank on and off. Also I have a really bad rattle comes from the air bags so it sound in the dash and drivers side post air bag. Have took the car in 3 times and a week per time, and so far nothing as been fixed.

On Friday November 28, 2008 at 4:45pm, I was driving on state highway 58 by jenkins and rosedale highway in bakersfield, CA. I was going approximately 50 mph and was approximately 50 yards from the vehicle in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes due to the car in front of my braking automatically, my brakes locked up and I was in a front end crash. Not only did my brakes lock up, but my duel sided air bags in my 2002 kia Spectra which I have only owned for four months did not deploy. Luckily no one was badly injured but due to this incident my muscles are badly sore and bruised. The whole front end of my vehicle is destroyed and most importantly my headlights which are required by law to have, are shattered.

We bought this car brand new. From day one the front air bag will turn off when I sit in the passenger seat. I am well above the weight minimum at around 140 lbs. And am 5'2". The only way that I can keep the airbag on is to roll up a towel and put that in center of seat when I sit. This is very uncomfortable though. I complained and complained to the dealer. I even offered to have them see how I was sitting as they kept saying it was something that I was doing. But never would fix it. I don't want this to happen when a passenger is in the seat if we were to have an accident. Bought the car for the safety features and this one doesn't even work. Kia should be made to fix this!.

Driver passed out making left turn going 5 mph and hit the concrete pole for the traffic light on the east side of u. S. 19.

Car was struck on driver side rear quarter panel which resulted in the vehicle being spun in front of the dump truck which made the first impact. Car was struck on several points of impacts including the driver side door, driver side rear door, and front quarter panel. The hardest impact being directly on the side door, with enough impact to completely push the door inside of the door frame of the vehicle. Emt's statement described this to me when they were describing they had to use the jaws of life to free my wife from the drivers seat. No air bags deployed during this entire crash. This vehicle is equipped with 8 air bags of which three are on side impact specific on each side.

On the afternoon of the 25th day of may in the year 2006, my wife and myself were driving down I-5 sb to mamc for her hospital appt. We were then involved in a multi-car accident off next to the off ramp of exit 123. We tried to slow down in time before noticing the just wrecked vehicle in front of us and my abs in my 2006 kia Spectra sx did not engage, my tires then locked up and I skidded and slid into the stopped vehicle. We hit them doing approx. 35-45 mph and smashed in the front of our car. At that time my airbags (both driver and passenger) did not deploy. There has been no corrective action from the time of the accident.

I purchased a 2005 kia Spectra ex on July 11, 2005 and have also been experiencing issues with my "advanced" passenger air bag system. As other posters have stated, the light has come on while driving when a person of proper stature is in the seat and stays off for varying amounts of time. I live in massachusetts thankfully we have the lemon law here that allows you some protection for defects of this nature. Tomorrow my car goes in for the final repair attempt and if it is not fixed, it will be classified as lemon, allowing me a refund or replacement vehicle. My vehicle has been in for this problem 4 times and still does not work properly. The last time it was in, the system was re-programmed in accordance with a recall that was issued.
