Yes so my air bag light when I got the car was off an it just popped up couple weeks ago! I have tried everything possible to try to fix it an still is on. I even brought a new driver seat an it still didn't fix the problem. My be hope has been parked since the air bag light has been on.

The passenger airbag sensor started failing when I purchased the car in 2017 and has since completely failed, which has caused the airbag light to turn on. The kia dealership wants to charge $140 to run an airbag diagnostic and from what I have researched, I will have to replace the entire seat, which may cost more than the value of the car. My concern at this point is whether or not any of the airbags will be deployed in the event of a collision.
The airbag light is on and we think the OCS sensor mat is bad. Kia has an extended warranty for vehicles between the years of 2006-2009 to have a OCS sensor mat replaced for free for a period of 15 years regardless of mileage.

Driver side air bag light is on.
The air bag light came on in my daughters 2006 kia Spectra at 112,000 miles. We are the second owner and have only had the car for 5 months at the time this occurred. . I paid $163. 96 to diagnose the problem at the kia dealership. . I was told the error code was b1448 OCS mat defective. I was told the bottom portion of the front passenger seat needed to be replaced due to the faulty sensor at a cost of more than $1600. This is the same defect for which the 06-08 kia rios were recalled - NHTSA campaign no. 12v244000. This recall should be extended to include the similar model year kia Spectras as there are numerous complaints found. I wrote 7 letters to kia corporate, I specifically wrote to their directors and those in higher management positions listed on their website. No one cared to respond back. The 1-800 number listed for consumer affairs closed my case and said that after the 5 years 60,000 miles the warranty is over and void and safety issues such as an air bag that doesn't deploy falls on the customer and is customer responsibility. My 17-year-old daughter drivers this car. We are the second owner and have had it for 5 months. I've been actively working to get this safety concern acknowledged by kia for a month and a half. Customer safety isn't a concern for them after the warranty is up. This is frightening. . They offered me $150 to go towards the cost of repairs. Huge disappointment in both the car and the company. Kia needs to make right on their vehicles. A lifesaving feature such as an airbag should not have an expiration date. This is not a matter of consumer maintenance.

My airbag light is staying on when occupied. I'm at almost 60,000 mls. Thought I saw something about a recall sometime ago so l was surprised that I couldn't find any considering the complaints l've been seeing. I don't have to many passengers as my children were always in back and just started riding in front. So I'm not sure how long it could have been going on. Just wanted to let someone know another 08' s light is lit. Thanks for your time.
Air bag light is malfunctioning, got letter from kia saying it is under warrenty and dealer will not fix.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Spectra. Every time the vehicle was started, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the passenger side OCS mat was defective and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 121,144.
Passenger air bag off indicator light is illuminated when person is sitting in the seat.
The airbag light is constantly on now on my dash near my speedometer. It also illuminates on the passenger side as 'on' and 'off' while my husband is sitting there. This has been going on for about a month now for the driver's dash light, and 2 months for the passenger airbag indicator. I've owned this car for 2 years, no accidents, and now a legally required safety feature appears to be malfunctioning. That is a horrible investment, and should not be legally ok.
Airbag light on, car failed state inspection. Caused by faulty sensor.
The airbag light is on in my car and didn't pass inspection was told by mechanic probably under recall. . . Also my vehicle was involve in a crash in 2010 or 2011 and front end was smashed in and none of. The airbags went off!.
Owner of the 2007 kia Spectra brought the car to me to have to looked at due to the airbag light being on. Upon scanning the computer in the car the srs system coded b1448 which is the passenger side OCS mat sensor failing. This part should be under a recall due to safety issues for the passenger riding in the car.

Air bag light is on and has been on for several months (12+). Passenger seat sensor is defective and would cost over $1600 to repair. After researching several other owners have the same issue and even some reported that all air bags have not gone off during an accident. Must be recalled immediately.
The contact owns a 2009 kia Spectra. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA action number: pe15031 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
Takata recall I own a 2009 kia Spectra I've had it since 2014. I moved & about a year ago my airbag light came on the car was stationary I went to get came back in my car & noticed it was on. I didn't think anything of it because where I lived you didn't have to do vehicle inspections. Not too long after my seatbelt kept locking & in the last several months it completely locked on me. I'm in the process of moving & I took my car to get a vehicle inspection because the state I will be living in you have to be able to pass inspection. I was told I wouldn't pass the inspection due to the airbag light being on & my seatbelt being locked. I called several dealerships & they are trying to make me pay all these different prices to fix it the least I've been told is about $700 just to install a new seatbelt. I'm a single mom & I can't afford this. . This is unsafe !! I was looking up how to fix my seatbelt & came across a lot of individuals who were having this same issue & I want to know if there is a recall because this is a safety issue for my child as well as myself.
The contact owns a 2009 kia Spectra. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat sensor malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Air bag light is on constantly, 60000 miles on car. After reading all complaints associated with this issue it seems to me it is a manufacturer issue and a recall needs to be issued to repair problem.
The contacts owns a 2006 kia Spectra. The contact stated that the air bag indicator continued to illuminate even without a passenger in the passenger seat. The dealer could not duplicate the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. There were no recalls available. The failure mileage was 79,000.
The pass. Air bag light comes on with a little weight on the seat. I was told the problem will cost $1800 to fix and there is no re-call on this. Also they said none of the air bags will work until fixed. A large number of people have or had this problem.
Airbag light came on when turning on car and stayed on. Was inspected by mechanic. Was told sensor in the passenger seat was broken and seat mat needed to be replaced by kia for $1600. Mileage on car at time of inspection by mechanic was 72,544 and was inspected on 12/19/2015.
The airbag light came on at around 84,000 miles and the "passenger air bag off" no longer illuminates. Diagnostic testing shows a code b1448 indicating that the OCS, passenger seat sensor has malfunctioned. This is an expensive item to replace, and is definitely a safety issue. I have noticed that this same issue has been reported repeatedly. Because it has to do with passenger safety, I feel this item should be recalled and covered by kia.
My airbag light would not turn off so I took the car to a kia dealer. I was told that I would need to replace the passenger seat to the tune of over 2 grand! I then contacted the kia company directly to ask for their assistance. After waiting a week for the promised 48 hour call back I was told there would be no assistance and they took no responsibility for the failure even though I rarely have anyone riding in the passenger seat. They also could not tell me whether the airbag would deploy or not if someone was riding in the passenger seat.
Airbag light came on and stayed on. Took the car to the kia dealership, hooked it up to the computer, it was the OCS sensor mat. Is going to cost $1000-$2000 for a new seat with a new osc! the car only has about 53,000 miles and the passenger seat isn't/ hasn't been used often, as this is primarily a car that I drive to work and back by myself, alone. Of course it isn't under warranty! this should be a recall kia! safety needs to matter!.
Dashboard airbag light illuminated, and nothing I tried--scanner, calling the dealer, and inspecting it myself--seems to be addressing the issue. I see multiple people are experiencing simpler symptoms. The light illuminates as usual upon ignition and shuts off as normal. It then comes back on around 10 to 20 seconds after the car starts, and it does not shut off until I turn off the car. The it sounds like a warranty issue.
I noticed investigation: pe 15-031 where the OCS seat sensor mat is failing on a number of kia Spectra models. My airbag light came on a few weeks ago so I too the car to the dealer and they charged me $100 to determine the OCS seat sensor mat was bad. Diagnostic code b1448. They told me it would be about $1500 to replace the entire passenger seat to fix the problem. Needless to say I have not gotten the problem fixed. The vehicle only has 52,000 miles on it and until about 3 years ago when my wife started riding to work with me I rarely ever had anyone in the front passenger seat so the mat shouldn't have seen much use. As of today your odi resume says there were 43 complaints on this issue but you can change that to 44 if you would like. Something as important as a passenger airbag system should not be susceptible to inferior parts like this.
Airbag light is on indicating a fault in the airbag system. The passenger seat OCS mat sensor may be defective. Airbag system will not work in accident.
Vehicle has 115000 miles and air bag light stays on. This is a $2000 repair according to info on line. There have been many complaints on this . Why hasn't NHTSA issued a recall? does it take death or serious injury first?.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 kia Spectra. The contact stated that while turning on the vehicle the air bag indicator illuminated on the vehicles instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis, however details of the diagnosis could not be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 162,000. Wh.
Front passenger airbag is on all the time. Took car to dealer and was told it was code b1448 - OCS mat failed. Some type of sensor under passenger seat. Would cost $1,500 to replace. Kia corporate offered to pay for half of repair but technician said that there might still be problems with airbag system even after repair. (replaced front driver's seat about 18 months ago at same dealer for $600 because airbag light was on at that time too. ) kia mechanic warned that because the passenger airbag light was on none of the airbags would now work. Therefore, see car as being unsafe to drive. Believe recall on airbag system is justified.
The air bag light on the dash along with the "passenger side air bag off" lights came on and stayed on during a 1 hour trip as we were moving to our new apartment. Luckily we did not have very far to move when this sudden safety hazard arose as we could not move a passenger to the back seat. The sensor did not recognize my wife at a little over 110 lbs. Nor myself at over 175 lbs. After taking it to the local kia dealership, we were informed that the OCS mat would need to be replaced with a cost of around $1100 for parts and $230 for the labor. It took about a week to resolve the problem.
Airbag light popped on months ago without force or any accidents.
The contact owns a 2009 kia Spectra. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 kia Spectra. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that this was a recurring failure. The vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000. Kc.
A front tie rod broke, something in the steering column broke, and the air bag indicator lit up but no air bags deployed. The two front tires were not pointing in the same direction. I had it towed to a mechanic, and they said that the steering column issue likely caused a disconnect in a circuit, which can prevent all air bags from deploying.
