Continuation of complaint. . . . I then checked the NHTSA website for recalls or service campaigns and found 3 recalls that fit in my VIN range. I immediately called kia's 800 number and asked if my vehicle was included and was promptly told no. I believed this response since it was coming directly from the manufacturer and not the dealer. About 2 months later, I received a disturbing call from a representative from kia consumer affairs telling me to immediately stop driving the vehicle because the same 3 recalls I saw on the NHTSA website and called to inquire about included my vehicle. The recalls were: brake line recall-the steering intermediate shaft coupling can contact a hydraulic brake pipe causing fluid leakage. This condition can cause a loss of rear brake increasing the risk of a crash. Electrical wiring- the wires connected to the c123 and c124 connectors can be put under tension by movement of the engine, thus pulling the wires and connectors, loosening them and resulting in a loss of circuit continuity. This condition can cause engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash. The third recall was an obd label. I could not believe that kia put my family and me in so much danger by telling me that my vehicle was not involved. The kia representative told me that kia would provide me with a loaner vehicle. Since I knew that I could possible die by continuing to drive this vehicle, I took a day off of work and took the vehicle back to the dlr. By this time, I had kept a timetable and log of everything that had gone wrong with the vehicle and presented it to the dealer. The list included, of course, the check engine light on, hesitation on acceleration, vehicle shakes severely when the wheel is turned, the idle surges when the vehicle is stopped, the rear window defogger had come off of the vehicle, the radio had started to static and turn on loud even when it was turned off, the volume knobs on the radio worked intermittently, the windows rolled up and down.

Vehicle is experiencing engine problems, electrical problems, and fluid leakage problems, consumer feels this is related to recall 99v325, consumer had vehicle in for repairs for the catalytic converters and the dealership never stated anything regarding the recalls, consumer is requesting that the recall repair be completed, however dealer is stating that the warranty is over and no recall repairs will be completed.
Consumer stated that the vehicle has a defective wire harness causing power window failure, short in switch, blowing the power window fuse and shocking passengers. Also, dome light blows bulb and has been replaced 2 times, power door locks operate when steering column is adjusted,(wiring related).
The fuel injection wire harness failed and caused the engine to stall, there was a recall issued previously, in which consumer had work performed, dealer was not willing to honor the manufacturers 36-month or 36,000 mile warranty stating the problem was the result of another companys work that was performed, and that the dealer performed the recall repairs as stated.

Not only has the proportional braking valve failed, but also engine temp sensor, causing transmission failure, engine light came on,and hold light for the trasmission come on, and now the power window gets stuck open. We smell a faint smell of wire insulation burning, but service dept. Said they couldnt do any thing until the brake light came on and stayed on. He said there was a short in the wiring harness. This makes twice.
The wiring harness failed prior to recall notice (99v-325) causing the check engine light to illuminate. Nlm.

The vehicle is experiencing electrical problems, two electrical wiring harness have melted causing the vehicle to stall, the power windows do not work properly and the consumer says it always smells like wires are melting.
Engine check light came on and the vehicle stalled out. Smelled a burning smell, dealer contacted, and attributed the problem to faulty wiring, under warrany, repair work done.
Vehicle will not accelerate under normal operating conditions. Dealership has worked on vehicle several times since 1998, and has not been able to repair vehicle. The consumer states that the fuel injector, head gasket, wiring harness and transmission had been replaced. However, the problem still exists and the vehicle was a lemon or defective.
Wiring failure causing engine light to stay on.

I serve on the nh lemon law board. We have had several (2 on 10/24) kia Sportage cases with stalling problems at highiaway speeds. This vehicle has had a safety recall (kia recall s014) for a wiring harness for the fuel system. Vehicles that have had this recall still exhibit the problem. In review of the kia recall documents, I feel the recall is being done improperly. The steps to "repair" the wiring connector are poor at best. Testimony in one case by the kia factory rep indicated the recall was done incorrectly. This wiring connector should be replaced. . . . Not repaired!! kia customers are still driving vehicles with a false sense of security after having the s014 recall performed. Please review this recall and kia's procedures. They are grossly inadequate!!!! you may call me at 1-800-493-4330 (work) or e-mail at dflm@netscape. Net.
Email regarding recent complaint submitted involving 1999 kia Sportage odi# 10023549. The vehicle previously had a recall performed regarding the wiring harness, now the vehicle is stalling and surging. The consumer can not afford a new car so he wants the vehicle he has to be safe to drive.
While starting up the vehicle it failed to turn on. Consumer tried numerous times but vehicle was inoperative. Consumer contacted kias road side assistant, and technician disconnected a wire from the electrical kylas remote control system. This caused the kylas remote control system to deactivate. Then, consumer was able to start the vehicle. Since then consumer had no problem with the vehicle. Consumer contacted the dealer, and was advised to keep the kylas remote control system in the vehicle.
