Rear brakes were worn only after 13 mths of driving a brand new Range Rover and that was driving slow and never pushing the car. Out of the 20+ vehicles I've owned in my lifetime I've never seen a vehicle requiring new brake pads at 10-15k miles. Basically, we need to replace the brake pads every year with the annual service which is unacceptable and clearly faulty.

The brakes failed to function while I drove. I almost hit the car in front of me. The brake booster was not functioning. The engine check light appeared suddenly, but with that other messages too, and also that was safe to continue to drive with caution. Just to mention two more messages that appeared on the display were: stability control not available and hill descent control not available. I had to press extremely hard to break the car and of course I had to drive very slowly. I was cough of guard and almost hit a car in front of me at the traffic light. Afterwards I just drove very slowly to my house. I checked the errors on my car and did research (I did not go to the dealership because they just extort money from you). I found out that the auxiliary battery failed. I replaced the battery and reset the system and the new battery information and that fixed the issue. I read on the Land Rover forums similar experience from many owners of this car. I believe there is a serious design flow because the low voltage of the auxiliary battery should not have caused the brake booster to malfunction while I drove. Just to mention that this auxiliary battery is an additional battery, (it looks like a motorcycle battery) and the main one is still healthy. And this is a hybrid (phev) car. Lots of source of energy to power important modules in the car which should not depend on the small auxiliary battery. Plus, the engine was running, meaning the alternator should be enough to power the modules that failed. I was very scared and happy that it was not my wife who drove the car. I have a report that was generated by the diagnostic tool that I use. A lot of errors popped up during that scary drive home. I attached the report I recorded from my diagnostic tool.

This four month old 2024 Range Rover lwb with bosch brakes experienced a sudden and complete loss of braking capabilities. When the driver went to brake and while turning into a parking stall, the brake pedal was not in its usual position and did not work. It was stuck to or close to the floor mat and was unresponsive. The brake was not at the normal position springing back after having previously compressed it. The braking system failure happened at a low speed after a series of turns. The driver was unable to stop the vehicle and it crashed. The lack of braking capability occurred for multiple seconds while going into a parking space until the vehicle crashed. The driver attempted emergency measures when the vehicle’s brakes were unresponsive in a desperate attempt to do anything to stop the vehicle. That included potentially pushing the park button in the center console. After multiple seconds of the brakes not working and the driver attempting to take any measure to stop the vehicle and the vehicle extending onto a sidewalk past the parking lot, the driver accidentally hit the accelerator. The car was already off the roadway about to crash prior to the acceleration. The acceleration sped up the crash a second later. The car was totaled. There are multiple data and video evidence. The are numerous emails describing the incident in greater detail that can be provided. Some of the evidence was destroyed according to jlr as jlr states there is a designed pyrotechnic explosion that occurs post crash to dislodge the brake pedal to avoid entrapment. That does not explain the loss of braking system and unresponsiveness of the brake pedal prior to the crash. Range rover and progressive are conducting independent inspections. Range rover claims that the brake system was never engaged and that the crash was user error. We believe Range Rover is attempting to whitewash the incident to avoid identifying a problem, costly repairs, claims, a recall, or a combination.
In June 2023, I started my car and I got 2 error messages "hill descent control not available" and "ok to drive with caution stability control not available", then when pressing the brake, it was very difficult to press the brake and stop the car. I took to the dealer and they replaced the secondary auxillary battery. In July 2024, I started my car and received the same 2 error messages and had trouble using my brakes again (same issue as in 2023). My car is again at the dealer, and I am told that the secondary auxiliary battery has failed again, and they can't figure out why. This seems to be a serious and dangerous situation, and I read online that there have been other complaints from other owners. My 4-year/50k mile warranty expires in October 2024, and I would like Land Rover to cover any future issues (at the very least) following the warranty period since this seems to be a recurring issue.
Brakes failed after less than 12000 miles.

Problems with brakes. Poor braking . Then warning sign should break pads worn at 12k miles. I have read many reports about similar defects for the new Range Rover. . Read more...
On first occastions while driving at 60+ mph on a busy highway, the vehicle beeped for a few seconds and the dashboard went blank, engine died, no brakes, no power steering. It was only a miracle that saved me from being hit at a high speed by other drivers. The dealer charged the battery and updated the sw. Approximately 5 weeks later, on the second occasion after driving 300 miles out of town, the same thing happened again. Luckily, I was on a local road and was able to get off the travel lanes. On both occasions, the vehicle was towed to a Land Rover dealership. The vehicle remains at the dealership now for the past 10 days while they try to figure out the problem. The vehicle is less than 3 months with only 2600 miles. The service advisor at my local dealership told me that there have been several similar cases and that lr cannot seem to diagnose or fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2023 Land Rover ranger rover. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the "service brakes" and "low coolant" warning lights had displayed. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 15,000.
This vehicle is a 2023 Range Rover . I took it in to have the winter tires removed and the summer tires installed. Range rover did a vehicle inspection and it showed the brake pad wear on the front as being a #7 and the rear as a #2. The scale is 1 to 10 , ten being no wear or new pads. I have the write up from Range Rover and pictures they took . I also have the bad brake pads that look like they are flaking away. The repair cost was $2,459. 97. The service technician told us this was his 5th 2023 large Range Rover he has done so far this year. They also mentioned that they never do brake pads on a 1 year old vehicle ,let alone 5 vehicles so far this year. As expected I called Range Rover support line with no answers or resolutions. The majority of my wife's travels in this vehicle have my children with her . Not sure if you can notify Range Rover of this issue, I understand they are a foreign company. Thank you for any help you can provide. Louie bilinovich.
My car has 58000 miles and the alternator failed on the way due to valve cover gasket leaking oil on top of alternator to and ultimately fail. Due to alternator failure the cars driving features shutdown within few seconds all the warning lights came up and emergency braking, suspension and gears stopped working. This is a serious concern as the car systems shutdown this could have put me in a dangerous situations in mountains.

Brakes making squealing noise and brake pads worn out front and rear within 17000 miles.
On December 17, 2022 I got back in my car from an earlier outing and had no brakes whatsoever. There was no warning, only a warning light afterwards that read something along the lines of "*** brake problem. Still safe to drive. " the car is under warranty so I had it towed to tacoma Land Rover. The brake situation was so dire that I sealed the key in an envelope, warning people there were no brakes. Long story but they determined that the brake failure was caused by a "dead auxiliary battery. " I believe they said they replaced the battery but they might have recharged it since I wasn't asked to pay for a new one. If this had happened on the highway, I and others could have easily died. I'm afraid my safety is still at risk because there simply was no warning. I was fortunate that I was downtown late in the evening so there weren't many cars or pedestrians. I don't know if Land Rover had anyone inspect anything. There is no mention of it in the paperwork. I have asked them several times to change that "discharge" paperwork to reflect a "complete brake failure" but they do not reply. Paperwork currently reads something along the lines of, ". . . Customer reports brake pedal is hard to depress. . . " and that's not the case at all.
Help.
Breaking issue that caused extreme vehicle shaking and loss of control, I took the vehicle to the dealer royal Land Rover tucson they indicated the breaks and rotors needed replaced and this was not a warrantied item and the cost was approximately $2,000. I had the breaks and rotors replaced and paid for the repair out of pocket, about three months later the the problem returned, I returned back to the dealer and they again replaced breaks and rotors however they covered the repair. A couple months later the problem returned so I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they opened a technical assistance case with Land Rover the vehicle was in their possession for 4 to 5 weeks and they replaced breaks and rotors once again, this took place about 2,000 miles prior to the factory warranty expiring. A couple months passed and the problem began to come back about 1,000 miles after the factory warranty had expired, so I scheduled the vehicle in for service at the dealer, they again opened a technical assistance case with Land Rover and this time Land Rover denied the repair as the vehicle warranty had expired. I have made numerous calls to Land Rover customer service I spoke to a lady on 4/20/21 who said they had authorized $1,125 in repairs to the dealer however they had not, she also said she was going to call me back and she did not. The vehicle is unsafe to drive as it looses control when the severe shaking occurs. Land rover refuses to correct this issue as the factory warranty has now expired even though this issue has been addressed multiple times under warranty. Also right side lane departure warning does not function correctly and has been addressed many times as well.

I had backed in to the garage and turned the knob to park. The vehicle was in park, I had removed my seatbelt but not exited the car yet and the car went backwards with some force and breaking didn't stop it, only after I hit the button to cut it off, multiple times, did it finally shut down. My husband was behind the car, getting ready to get the groceries out of the rear. This vehicle struck him and went thru the kitchen wall of our condo. His leg was stuck under the tire which that was turning on top of his calf. I am absolutely certain the car was in park bc not only was the knob set at p but also the p was on the screen. Only certain because I'm always cautious due to the proximity of distance of everything in the garage and tight quarters.
When I brake over speed bumps and downhills, the brakes vibrate and pulsate creating danger to stop hard. I've a had brake inspections and everything is ok. Abs system seems the problem and I wish I could repair it.

The vehicle breaking system is damaging the ware items (rotors and pads) causing the vehicle to shake and shutter and become unsafe when driving on curvy roads and down hill. This vehicle has been in to the dealership 3 times under warranty and the dealership and Land Rover will not diagnose and repair the system problem. The vehicle was in the shop for 56 days and returned un repaired as the vehicle has now gone out of warranty. This is an ongoing issue and caused the vehicle to become uncontrollable. Also the blind spot monitoring system has failed many times and also has been in for repair and never fixed.
When I backed my Range Rover up over the side curb it locked my steering. I can only turn my wheel when the truck is driving it has no power while in just sitting at a light. Makes it difficult to park my truck because I can't turn the wheel without gas to the truck. I took it to auto zone to see if it was power steering but no noise the fluids are in there.

09/06/18 I was stopped ,with my foot on the brake, waiting to turn left because there was oncoming traffic. Suddenly, while I still had my foot on the brake. My vehicle accelerated and I had to veer and swerve to miss oncoming traffic. 09/07/18 it was about 10:50 am and I was preparing to park next to a store. As I was attempting to park, again with my foot on the brake, my vehicle accelerated out of control and I was thrust up the curb, across a side walk and thru the store front. Even though my foot was on the brake, it wouldn't stop. There was significant damage to my vehicle and the store my airbag did not deploy. Suddenly the vehicle slowed on its own. It was placed on a tow truck and delivered to the h&h premier automotive in omaha. Land rover engineers and my insurance company are investigating my case number with Land Rover is 8000569280 I do have pictures if you email me I can attach them to that email. Please investigate this. I'm afraid Range Rover will not admit that there is a problem because it would be a major recall but someone is going to be killed if this continues.
The first thing that happened was the ac stopped working and replaced the resistor in it twice, the same day it went out a second time the back driver side window fell. The next week I was driving home and was entering the freeway and as I accelerated the vehicle jerked hard and pulled back, and was making a squeaking sound. It corrected but now it keeps doing it. And the brake fluid a week later leaked out and I lost power in my brakes. I am afraid to drive my car!.

The autonomous emergency braking (aeb) system is non functional. Error message on the dash will sometimes report recalibration and at other time state that the system is unavailable. Also indicates that the "forward alert" is not available. The dealer is unclear about how this will effect vehicle handling and safety. They have reported that there is a software patch coming but it has not been provided to the public yet.
Car shipped from florida to pittsburgh. Upon arriving I drove the vehilce on the street and it stopped and had to wait to start again. Vehicle was only able to be driven a mile at a time beofre incident recurred. Abs break late stayed on from the beginning. To start vehilce two wires had to be connected together. Transmission not functionable, starting problem, brake problem and electrical problem. Contacted dealer and dealer denied any problems with the vehicle. I had a mechanic verify all problems noted above two days later. . Relayed the information to the dealership and nothing was resolved.

I was driving at a speed of about 25mph on a city street and began to brake gently as I was approaching a red light. The distance between my car and the car in front of me at the time I began braking was over 3-cars-length, but not more than 4. This was not an abrupt stop. As I applied the brake I could feel it began to shudder and the car was not slowing down. I pressed the brake more firmly and while it did respond more so than before, the car was by no means slowing down at a fast enough rate considering how long I had been applying the brake and the fact that I was only traveling at 25mph to begin with. I felt a pulsating that became increasingly pronounced and eventually the brake felt as though it was locked in place and unresponsive to my application of further pressure. The car was slowing down but it was not doing so at the normal rate. It would have likely required 2-3 times the normal distance to come to a complete stop. However, the brakes were too ineffective to have reasonably anticipated (by a long shot) and I rear ended the car in front of me that had come to nearly a complete stop at that point. At the time of impact my car had only slowed down by at the most 70%. Both my car and the car I rear ended were totaled. At no time prior to or upon impact did any warning light or indicator appear on the car. Nothing forewarned me that my brakes were at all compromised. The car was totaled and dmv records will show all of that info. This is a serious problem that could be catastrophic if not investigated. Range rovers are extremely heavy vehicles which makes a breaking system failure even more dangerous than it already is. Land rover has denied any defects or other manufacturer faults. I was injured with permanent neck pain likely as a result of the airbags failure to deploy. And the passengers in the impacted vehicle sustained notable injuries as well.

The front right break line split and all the break fluid drained out causing the breaks to fail. The car was towed to a Land Rover dealer. In speaking with the dealer, there is no service directive by lr to replace the breaklines at some point. I spoke to lr today and they told me that after warranty its the owners problem to monitor the car. The dealer also noted that another lr model, the sport, there is a maintenance directive to replace the break hoses at 75,000 miles. Obviously, this is a very serious issue. Someone could have been injured or killed. This car has been under dealer care since it was purchased. Break lines should not fail these days.

I notice when I am driving anytime I brake my car veers to the left and I almost crashed two times because of this my car is properly aligned and it has brand new brakes and rotors that's the reason I changed them because I thought that maybe the brakes or rotors were bad but the problem is still present so I would like to know if there has been any recalls on my particular vehicle because this is a very frustrating and dangerous problem I would very much appreciate it if someone please helped me out and contacted me as soon as possible thank you and have a great day :).
My first incident I was approaching an intersection with a stop sign. I slowed down to stop at the stop sign and when I hit the brake the car accelerated through the intersection. I couldn't stop or control the car and thankfully avoided what could have been a major accident. The second time just minutes after this occurred, it happen exactly the same way. I slowed to stop at a stop sign and when I hit the brake the car accelerated right through the stop sign. At this point I was about a mile from home and very slowly drove a back road home and have not driven the car since.
