I was driving at a speed of about 25mph on a city street and began to brake gently as I was approaching a red light. The distance between my car and the car in front of me at the time I began braking was over 3-cars-length, but not more than 4. This was not an abrupt stop. As I applied the brake I could feel it began to shudder and the car was not slowing down. I pressed the brake more firmly and while it did respond more so than before, the car was by no means slowing down at a fast enough rate considering how long I had been applying the brake and the fact that I was only traveling at 25mph to begin with. I felt a pulsating that became increasingly pronounced and eventually the brake felt as though it was locked in place and unresponsive to my application of further pressure. The car was slowing down but it was not doing so at the normal rate. It would have likely required 2-3 times the normal distance to come to a complete stop. However, the brakes were too ineffective to have reasonably anticipated (by a long shot) and I rear ended the car in front of me that had come to nearly a complete stop at that point. At the time of impact my car had only slowed down by at the most 70%. Both my car and the car I rear ended were totaled. At no time prior to or upon impact did any warning light or indicator appear on the car. Nothing forewarned me that my brakes were at all compromised. The car was totaled and dmv records will show all of that info. This is a serious problem that could be catastrophic if not investigated. Range rovers are extremely heavy vehicles which makes a breaking system failure even more dangerous than it already is. Land rover has denied any defects or other manufacturer faults. I was injured with permanent neck pain likely as a result of the airbags failure to deploy. And the passengers in the impacted vehicle sustained notable injuries as well.

The front right break line split and all the break fluid drained out causing the breaks to fail. The car was towed to a Land Rover dealer. In speaking with the dealer, there is no service directive by lr to replace the breaklines at some point. I spoke to lr today and they told me that after warranty its the owners problem to monitor the car. The dealer also noted that another lr model, the sport, there is a maintenance directive to replace the break hoses at 75,000 miles. Obviously, this is a very serious issue. Someone could have been injured or killed. This car has been under dealer care since it was purchased. Break lines should not fail these days.

My first incident I was approaching an intersection with a stop sign. I slowed down to stop at the stop sign and when I hit the brake the car accelerated through the intersection. I couldn't stop or control the car and thankfully avoided what could have been a major accident. The second time just minutes after this occurred, it happen exactly the same way. I slowed to stop at a stop sign and when I hit the brake the car accelerated right through the stop sign. At this point I was about a mile from home and very slowly drove a back road home and have not driven the car since.

Consumer states that these are the following problems; monitors on the headrest, headrest doesn't work, knob missing from console, left rear door has scratches and more. The consumer stated the manual was missing and there was noise coming from the brake or tire area. The windows were noisy when being rolled down, when the consumer placed the vehicle in reverse, it shut off by itself. The consumer was informed the noise from tires were due to the aftermarket rims.
Car is a 2003 Range Rover hse and has only 41k miles on it. When my husband stopped at the corner to take a right turn, there was a horrible metal-on-metal grinding sound. The car was inoperable and had to be towed.

Purchased vehicle 1-28-06. Broke down on 2-05-06, eight days later. Had the vehicle towed to the nearest Land Rover dealer where they identified many problems with the car including some that make the car unsafe. The electronic air suspension broke, the front and rear brakes are down to 10%, there is a severe leak in the rocker gasket, the belts are bad with a crack in the serpentine belt. The car failed while driving on the freeway by losing it's suspension. Had the car towed to the dealer, undrivable. Rented a car to get home, 122 miles away. Was told by the dealer I purchased it from that I would have to pay for the repairs that the extended warranty that I also purchased did not cover.
