Air Bag On-off Switch Problems of Lexus ES350

Driver side knee airbag caused hematoma, second degree burn on l. Leg, resulting in 2 surgeries, use of wound vac for 2 1/2 months, and permanent lympedema and scarring on l. Calf. Driver has replaced knees that are at high risk if further crash and knee bag deploys again. Driver needs on-off switch installed for driver knee airbag. Driver was not at fault in this accident and wants knee airbags removed or an on-off switch installed. The airbag on steering wheel deployed correctly and caused no damage. The knee airbag is a danger to driver.

Passenger airbag light keep switching from on to off and off to on. We brought it in twice into Lexus to have them fix the problem, but they keep saying there is nothing wrong with it. I know they had problems with the 2007 Lexus ES 350. My 2008 is having the same problem. All I'm asking them is to have fix the problem, before any accident happen. My husband and I carpool everyday to work, and we are so afraid that if there is an accident, the airbag might not deploy because of the sensor problem and turning the airbag off.

Front passenger seat airbag sensor does not consistently detect the presence of a 100 pound adult women in the seat. Led indicator on the dashboard displays "passenger airbag off" even when a 100 lb adult person is in the passenger seat. Dealer says system operating normally. Toyota is unresponsive.

The service dealer was contacted and determined that there was no remedy repair because it met NHTSA standards. The manufactured was notified.

I purchased a Lexus ES 350 after much research to find the safest car with advanced airbags. Lexus has a dual airbag on the passenger side which is why I chose this car. However it is not safe for me as the airbag off light comes on at times , so in an accident it may not do me any good. When there is a big bump in the road it immediately says off on occasions, other times I do nothing and it says off. When this happens, we need to pull over and turn car off and restart to get it to say on again, or sometimes I bounce hard and it will kick back on. When I was tested in car at Lexus, which they were very nice to me I might add, I weighed in at about 87 pounds and this is where the problem lies, as I really weigh 115 pounds. They said it could take 6 months or a year before they can get it solved, due to govt. Regulations with the faulty occupant sensory system.
