36 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 08/12/2011

Driving perhaps 30 miles per hour I suddenly heard the car accelerate and it started to go faster. I hit the brakes and that did not slow down the car. I was in heavy traffic and quickly went into a side street turning sharply and narrowly missing parked cars but struck two steel poles and than a parked truck. It was a horrible experience!.

37 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 12/05/2010

After being parked in parking lot - engine turned off, no radio playing, etc. We started the vehcle up, backed up, braked, put in drive and accelerated at which time the vehicle immediately accelerated out of control. Brakes would not stop the car. The car continued to accelerate faster and faster. We ran over a couple of islands, pulled fire hydrant out of the ground, ran into a wall, vehicle continued to accelerate and it seered from the wall, accelerating faster we knocked 6 parked cars out of the way like they were boxes all the while braking to no avail vehicle continuing to accelerate faster headed across the parking lot toward a chain link fence we threw the gear shift into park about the same time we hit the fence. The vehicle balked and came to stop in about 50 feet in an ajacent parking lot on the other side of the fence ripping about 50 feet of the fence with it. Front end demolished, radiator steaming, engine still running, ripped undecarriage flattened tires from rims. Totalled the car. And air bags did not deploy. Only injuries were bruises and sprains and emotional problems. Praise god. 2 adults and 3 children were in the car. I know the car malfunctioned and Lincoln has a responsibilty to the public to investigate, determine cause & correct. Look at the insurance report investigative report. They tell me it cost too much to investigate the cause since there were no severe injuries, . There are many similar incidents on the internet and some not so fortunate. There is a safety issue here and the public has the right to have these accidents investigated. The truma of being in an out of control vehicle is devestating and Lincoln has a public liability to make that determination to save future lives. 2 adults and 3 children are still emotionally disturbed about this. Are also similar incidents wtih other Ford products. Please respond.

38 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 09/03/2010

Brake and accelerator are too close together and too often, when pressing on the brake pedal, the accelerator is pressed as well causing the vehicle to advance (either forward or in reverse). I brought it to the dealer (malouf) and was told they found no defect and there were no recalls or safety bulletins and there was nothing to do. I see, from reading the n. H. T. S. A. Reports that this is one of the most common complaints and the safety board should force Ford/Lincoln to install some devise that prevents engaging both the brake and the accelerator at the same time.

Stopped at the last second inches away from the car ahead. Pushed the pedal to the floor and put the car in neutral. I pulled over and checked the brake fluid; it was fine. Returned to rochester, NY on July 5, 2010 and used emergency flashers the entire way. Arrived safely home. On July 6, 2010, took the car to cortese Lincoln, rochester, NY for further evaluation. 40 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 05/10/2010

Reference complaints 10327169, and 10326349. Lincoln 2007 Town Car why are these reports included in "interior systems"? they are clearly a safety issue that should be included under brakes and fuel system!! this model has the brake pedal and the fuel pedal connected together in a system that can raise or lower them together. . . It is probably this system that is at fault. In order to put in this feature it appears that they moved the gas pedal closer to the brake pedal and it is possible to apply both pedals together.

44 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 08/28/2008

I purchased the 2007 towncar on 6/24/08, with 14,500 miles. The problem occurs when my shoe is half on the brake and the pedal will go down to where the gas pedal is. This has happened 6 or 7 time already, the harder you press the brake the faster you go. Why does the brake pedal go down this far? my wife gets all shook up when this happens. I put the car in neutral and the car stops on a dime with the motor racing this looks like a design problem, why would you raise the brake and gas pedal at the same time, it would be better if you could raise or lower them one at a time. I have been driving for 50 years or more and never had this problem before. The last time this occurred was 8/28/08.

45 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 07/16/2008

I have a 2006 Lincoln Town Car. It has a driver adjustment on the height of the brake pedal. Even with it at the top, when you apply the brakes, the accelerator is so close that you can push it also. This is very dangerous. Several times now, I have avoided an accident only because an oncoming driver missed me. Coming up to a stop sign, I've applied the brakes only to have the car jump forward into traffic.

46 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 05/12/2008

When key is inserted in ignition, the seat slams forward into the steering wheel and then reverses slamming to extreme back position and then reverses repeating action. At same time the brake and gas pedal extends upward and down. The forward seat motion could crush a chest against the steering wheel, and the backward motion could break legs of a person sitting in the back seat. If this occurs while car is in motion, there would be no way to control the car, I. E. No way to turn the steering wheel, or apply brakes. The car was in the dealer repeatedly for the 1st several years, and now the problem is recurring. The faulty seat movement is extremely fast--not at push button seat adjustment speed.

Car has a problen in the steering box. Took it to a specialist and Ford discounted it. They sent a Lincoln rep down and he just lied to me about the problem said it was a factory flaw and could not fix , then I took the car into the dealer for a pinging and they said they couldn't hear it (nothing was done)then later on a trip it went haywire sounded like a big diesel truck on the highway and ran like crap , sucking gas also, then changed dealers and they said they coulden't find a ping . I grabed me a mechanic and we took a little ride and before I could get it back it was pinging (took them 3 weeks to fix with me coming up almost daily to test it, and nobody can adjust the head lights on the car that is bad its idiot proof.

54 Service Brakes problem of the 1998 Lincoln Town Car

Failure Date: 02/04/2003

My 1998 Lincoln Town Car (approx 35,000 miles) dramatically pulls to the right during braking when road conditions are wet and the car is travelling in excess of 40 miles per hour. This problem is addressed in fordmotor company's repair bulliten 98-13-4 dtd 07/06/98. Notwithstanding having the car repaired by an ase certified mechanic (napa approved) in accordance with the service bulliten the problem has reoccured after 3,000 miles. This is an extremely dangerous condition which could result in a serious accident, particularly since the problem only occurs at highway speeds when traffic conditions are already dangerous because of wet conditions.

56 Service Brakes problem of the 2002 Lincoln Town Car

I took delivery of car 2/xx/2002. When driven the first time in the rain. The car pulled to the right when braking seems ok in dry weather. I live I NJ where there was a drough this year so driving in the rain was rare. However, the car has been to the dealer 3 times and they now claim the car is ok. It still exhibits the right pull when braking in the rain. I have started the dispute process. Dt.
