1 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 03/19/2021

The vehicle would not start, would stall out and turn off while driving. The driver's side window will not move up or down. The car would start with jumper cables, idle for a few minutes, then go completely dead, no lights, no buzz, no nothing as soon as it was put into reverse. The car has a new battery, new coils, new spark plugs and continues to misfire. Mazda has been unresponsive to messages due to open recalls.

2 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

The motor started running hot and losing power and I shut it off. The vehicle was towed to a garage and was scanned on computer and only showed code for steering wheel angle. The mechanic pulled the coils and plugs and checked for spark and installed new plugs and all coils operated normally. Compression was checked and was low in all cylinders around 70-80 psi. Plugs and coils were reinstalled and intercooler put back on. Car is in a no start condition, car was taken to closest Mazda dealer and they said they would not fix problem since someone had been in the motor. The mechanic called their service department and told them exactly what had been done and they said they would not make it right. The car has 115000 miles and has numerous recalls for the vvt timing chain, turbo, engine, and they have TSB's for these issues and still play dumb. I want my motor fixed by Mazda at Mazda's expense since there are so many complaints and issues with these vehicles and Mazda knows about it and still doesn't want to make things right.

My daughter with her newborn infant had the vechile stall on them in heavy traffic. The car has 60,000. 00 miles and is meticulous maintained. We brought to the dealership and was told it needs a new engine at a cost 9,000. 00. 5 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 11/22/2015

* engine issues when the a/c compressor locked up. This is a known issue in this make and model. This happened around 36k miles while I was driving on a freeway. We had to coast into the next exit. * engine knocking issues. They still persist and started around 50k miles. * engine resistance. Alongside the knocking there seems to be a good amount of resistance when taking your foot off of the pedal for acceleration. * they added a factory extension to the radio for the ipod. Ever since they installed this, the rest of the electrical components have been overloaded. - headlights go out frequently. This concerns me as my wife drives the car and I wouldn't want both to go out at the same time. - the battery won't hold a charge if not driven for a few days. The dealership acknowledged that the radio has a 'parasitic draw' on the battery causing these issues, but refuses to take responsibility for their installation. Their solution is to charge $800+ for a new head unit, which is outrageous since I never did anything to the factory head unit.

8 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 11/10/2013

December 2012 (at about 64,000 miles) dealer replaced timing chain under extended warranty but didn't do anything to correct intermittent power loss and engine hesitation that I had complained to them at the time. November 2013 (at about 78,000 miles), the car experienced severe loss of power, stalling and heavy white smoke from the tailpipe. Dealer claimed "oil sludge" caused engine and turbo failure and refused to bear any responsibility or cost to fix. Mazda USA also refused, claiming the problems were due to insufficient oil change by the customer. Since we change oil regularly, we don't buy Mazda's claims, especially when they just opened up the engine less than a year ago to change the timing chain, and at that time didn't claim there was any "sludge" inside. Seeing many similar customer complaints on the internet, it seems Mazda has been trying to hide a serioius design and/or manufacturing flaw by blaming the customers as the cause of it. ?.

12 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 06/29/2012

Mazda Cx-7 2008; I purchased the car in September 2007 and it currently has 19,908 miles. The ac is breaking down. While I'm driving on the highway at 65mph, the pressure or high ac air pressure drops and hot air comes out. I also experienced burning smoke coming through the vents. I had the car inspected by the dealer back on August 3, 2012 and they replaced the valve cover. On September 1, 2012 I was driving again on the highway with my family and we experienced the same problem. The ac pressure dropped, hot air was flowing out of the ac and we smelled burning smoke. I took the car to the dealer this morning and they are now advising me that I have to replace the blower fan which is out of warranty (3 years/36k miles) and will cost $500. I have no problems paying for a part, but the valve cover, blower fan, or ac items shouldn't be breaking down at 19k original miles. I asked wayne Mazda service consultant: anthony cunha if the blower fan was part of the ac compressor and he said, "no". I strongly feel that Mazda installed faulty ac compressor/units on the 2008 Cx-7. This issue has to be investigated before a car catches on fire and people get burned alive or worse, a multiple car crash on the road resulting in deaths.

14 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 04/22/2012

We have a Mazda cx7, 2007, that we purchased brand new in April 2007. We have had all oil, filter and other services by our local Mazda dealership in accordance to Mazda guidelines. Recently while driving 70 mph down interstate 81 with our 10 year old son in the car, our Mazda stopped working. Lucky for us we were able to get off of the road and call a tow truck, who took us to a local Mazda dealership where we had to leave the car until Monday (it was a Saturday afternoon) and find other means of transportation home (70 miles away) on Monday morning my husband received a call from Mazda stating that our vvt plug came apart causing the engine to jump time and that we could pay to have a vva kit ordered and installed to see if it would fix the problem, at a cost of $1300, but this may not fix the problem because due to the plug coming apart our engine lost compression. And if this was the case, we would be out the $1300 and it would cost an additional $7950 for them to replace the engine. When we questioned them about the "service bulletin" released the problems they were having with this vvt they said that they really couldn't help us with this. . . . Our car was over in the mileage. . . Well to me a problem they recognize and admit to they should take care of no matter what. . Had we have know of this pending problem, we would have opted to have this kit replaced long ago and gladly paid the $1300 instead of being out a car, that we really have enjoyed, and now looking for someone to replace an engine!! OH and by the way. . Don"t let Mazda do this for you!! it is much cheaper to have your engine rebuilt and replaced by an outside source. We have contacted a machine shop in virginia who will pay shipping and do this for us for $3000 and we have a local mechanic that will do the work for $1000 OH and they give you a 5 year warranty!! Mazda needs to be responsible.

15 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 08/15/2010

My Mazda 2007 cx7 stalled on me and then died on the side of the road. I had it towed to the dealership and on Monday they told me the oil was low and I needed a new engine. I maintain my car as required and there were no signals indicating my oil or anything else was not working properly. I bought this car brand new in 2007 and this is the first major incident I have ever had. The dealership did not give any other options but to buy a new engine for 6,400. 00. I was told that my warranty expired at 60,000 miles.

17 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Mazda CX-7

Failure Date: 06/11/2010

Have a 2007 cx7 with 34,000 miles on it. It was purchased in sept of 09 at a Mazda dealership used. Upon exiting the interstate, at the bottom of the ramp the car stalled just as the light turned green. The car and semi behind me almost crashed into me. . I put it in park and it started up. I got about 2 blocks down the road and was sitting at the light when I noticed white smoke coming from the passenger engine compartment. Engine temps were fine but you could smell burnt rubber. I pulled into a gas station and lifted the hood. I could tell the a\c compressor was not turning so I turned the a\c off and made it to my destination about 3 miles later. I took the car into Mazda today only to find out the 36 month time period had expired on 2/20/2010. The tech writer almost verbatim described to me what happened when I told him I believed the compressor had failed. I believe there should be a tsr on this product.
