38 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 02/18/2012

Takata recall: I bought my first car Mazda3 in Jan 2011. On the passenger side, the airbag light does not turn off even though a over 100 pounds person is sitting on the chair. I noticed it on the first year when I was back to the Mazda dealer in newark California for the maintenance, but the dealer told me it is normal because the person is sitting on the passenger chair is so light. I got a car accident on 2012, but the airbag did not pop up. I did not file a complaint because I do not know this website until I receive the dashboard recall. My Mazda got some recalls. The current recall is the dashboard, and I am waiting for fixing it the end of this month January 2018. I wonder why the airbag is not recall yet. It is more important than the dashboard.

39 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

When a passenger who is 5'2" and weighs 95 pounds sits on the front passenger seat of my 2011 Mazda 3, the airbag light indicates that the passenger-side airbag is not on. I've taken the car to the Mazda dealer several times, but they couldn't fix it. On my other car (a Honda) and on all previous Mazda models I've owned (323 and protege), this same passenger has never had a problem with airbags detecting her presence as we now do with the Mazda 3. Is there a national safety regulation that Mazda is violating with passenger airbags that don't deploy when an adult is sitting in the seat? is there a minimum weight and height standard that Mazda's passenger-side airbags should be meeting? I can't imagine that such a standard would not include an adult who is 5'2" and weighs 95 pounds. . Read more...

41 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Anytime after it rains, the air bag light comes on. Doing internet research, its most likely the crash sensors that have cracks that allow moisture in. The dealer wants to run extensive tests costing hundreds of dollars, when I am sure they already know what it is. It says on the internet that the air bag won't deploy in the event of a crash with this defect. Older models of this car have been recalled for this. This is a safety item and the car should be recalled.

43 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2007 Mazda MAZDA3

Failure Date: 04/08/2011

I have an airbag light that came on. I took it to the dealer who did an estimate and told me a module in the driver side airbag in the steering wheel was no good and that a new airbag needed to be installed. They said until then non of my airbags would be working in the car. The cost was going to be between 1, 500-2, 000 to replace the part and reprogram the vehicle restraint control module. Due to the extreme cost, we chose to forgo the defective airbag replacement and have been driving our car for several years with no airbags working. It wasnt until the takata recall when it brought the issue to the forefront. It made me think that maybe this might be an issue happening in several Mazda 3's. After some research I find that yes I am definately not the only person with this issue. It would be nice to see something done considering the high cost of replacing an extremely expensive part that should not have gone out that early.
