My Mazda 3 2. 5t has been burning oil in excess. The car has a total of 24,000 miles and has been serviced 3 times. I have had to add oil in between every service. The oil has been completely burned off by 4,000-5,000 miles. I have noticed that other people have been posting about the same issues online. When talking to the dealership they state that they have noticed this issue with the 2. 5t’s but offer no fix and seem to overfill the engine oil to try and compensate.

Low engine oil warning between oil changes. Burned 3+ quarts between 5000 mile and 10,000 mile service.
At around 3600 miles my Mazda which I had for only a couple of months displayed a low engine oil light which required a visit to the dealership. This was under normal driving conditions.
The contact's friend owns a 2010 Mazda 3. The contact stated while traveling in the vehicle occupying the passenger seat there was abnormal boom noise detected. After exiting the vehicle, the driver and passenger opened the hood and noticed the engine had fallen. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact 's resident. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

In February, 2022, my 2015 Mazda 3 experienced a major failure, while I was driving on a local road, going 35 miles per hour. All of a sudden, the engine lost power, three warning lights came on, and the car was struggling to go 20 miles per hour. Being near a friend's house, I drove there. From there, her husband followed me home. The next day, my car was towed to the Mazda dealership. The mechanic diagnosed the problem as “found tbs number: 01-014/16 and inspected coils found they were bad according to lot numbers”. He replaced all four engine coils and all four spark plugs. The service manager told me that the parts were not under warranty. My research revealed that engine coils are supposed to last the lifetime of the car, which is 150,000 to 200,000 miles for a Mazda 3. My car only had 43,048 miles. The spark plugs should have lasted about five more years. I looked into the bulletin issued by Mazda USA. Mazda USA was first aware of a problem January, 2016. On 17 March 2016, I bought the car. Mazda USA updated the bulletin to include my car on 29 July 2016. The car was under full warranty at this time and could have been fixed, if I had been notified of the defects. The faulty coils can cause a catastrophic failure, resulting in serious accidents and injuries. My car was a “ticking bomb”, waiting to go off. I was on a local road, with light traffic, not a secondary road or highway, with heavy traffic. Rather than notify customers of the danger of the engine malfunctioning, Mazda USA chose to remain silent. The bulletin directs that nothing be done until a customer complains. The customer does not know to complain until the car malfunctions! the customer must complain within the normal warranty period. Mazda is hoping that the bad coils fail after the warranty period.

Experiencing a known excessive oil consumption issue. Low engine oil warning light came on and upon checking, oil was low. This occured at 4000 to 4200 miles. It occured again about 4000 miles later and again at a similar interval. I notified the dealer and scheduled a repair date but I am concerned of other possible damage that may have already occured due to this issue. An oxygen sensor needs to be replaced and is most likely due to the engine malfunction. The cause of the consumption is said to be damage to the valve seals on the exhaust side.
Car will not start, instrument panel flashes on and off. I’ve had to jump the car to start it and then the check engine light and engine malfunction warning messages appear on the panel. I’ve had the battery tested and told it wasn’t the battery.
Timing cover leak, all maintenance was completed before the service bulletin. This is a TSB but should be a recall for how common this issue is as they stated it could be caused from the assembly line during a pressurized test. “ this may be caused by oil escaping from a fine clearance created at the sealant applied to joint (a)between the cylinder block (b) and head (c) when the engine was pressurized during leak testing on the engine assembly line. ” TSB bulletin no. : 01-018/18. Timing cover issues are not something that should be happening under 100k miles.

The contact owns a 2018 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The contact was unaware if there were any warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact's husband added fuel to the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted 15 minutes later. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who informed the contact that the failure could not be duplicated because there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired, and the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred upon shifting from reverse(r) to drive (d). The power train warning light and several unknown waring lights were illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

After roughly 2,000 miles of driving, the low oil light comes on. The engine is burning oil. Mazda has issued a TSB on it, but they have taken no action to fix the issue. Right now they just top off the oil.

On March 29, 2021, I had my 2018 Mazda 3 serviced, oil and filter chance, and inspection, at my local auto repair shop. They indicated that the belt tensioner and belt needed replacement, due to oil leaking, from the tensioner, on to the belt. I got concerned because the vehicle only had 11,523, and the warranty ran out a few weeks earlier. I emailed Mazda several times, and asked, due to the low mileage, and close to warranty expiration, for their dealer to inspect the vehicle, and if needed, replace the tensioner and belt, both free of charge to me. They declined to grant me that courtesy.
Horn works on and off, car is unable to reverse (put the car in drive was able to go forward, turned the car off went to restart the vehicle and now the reverse gear does not work, transmission clutch gets stuck and takes off unexpectedly at a fast speed without pressing the gas.
Transmission slips out and shift shock in first gear to second year. Over revving and bucking on the freeway. These are bad transmissions.

When driving the steering wheel locks up . Super hard to pull over. Very dangerous. Could have been killed. The power steering light and engine light come unill I turn vehicle off and on. I have read many post on line of this happening to this vehicle and I'm shocked this is not a active recall or haven't caused any deaths.
When I drive down the road. My car speeds up and I don't press on the excilerator any harder. The cars idol goes up and down when driving and at park. This happens on all types of road ways. Sometimes it speeds up on me so fast I have to hit the brake while driving on the road.

Vehicle slowed to 20mph and a warning message engine malfunction, toke to dealer. Pulled off the freeway for a few minutes, restarted the engine and the message no longer appeared. ( the nearest dealer is 75 miles away) I am in flagstaff at this time.
Blower motor stopped working summer of 2020. Had it replaced at the dealership and it again stopped working in summer of 2021. Had it replaced once again and it is now making horrible noises again as it did right before it blew up the last two times.

Purchased car in January 2020 and within a month/few thousand miles the low engine oil light came on. Almost two years later car continues to burn excessive oil triggering low engine oil light. Dealer doesn’t acknowledge an issue, Mazda still doesn’t have a repair. Owners required to pay for excess servicing until a repair is issued. This is a widespread problem impacting the engine.
I have had my car since 2013 and had no problems with it until I got a new battery for my car. As soon as I got a battery my car would die every other day. I took it to many mechanics and back to the Mazda dealer to see if they could fix it. The mechanics didn't know what was wrong with it and when I took it to Mazda they said it was because my car door light was on, even though it never was. They claimed they fixed it and two days later my car was dead again. Every mechanic and the Mazda dealer said nothing was wrong with the car and they didn't know what was happening. The vehicle sits now because I can't keep calling my insurance company every other day to come out and jump start my car for me.
Motor cylinder #1 low compression took it to Mazda they couldnt figure it out and less than 20 miles after the motor threw a rod at 70,001 miles total. Cylinder 1 walls where not made correctly.
Car lulls/jerks when accelerating from low speeds car lacks power most of the time and performs poorly engine loses power, several occurrences of what would appear to be limp mode ( can't get passed 2000-3000 ) rpms car has erratic idle rpms, sometimes high and sometimes low I've recently heard the engine roar while idling and hissing from the engine bay when shutting off the engine also sounded like the car was dieseling after shut down likely because the car was beginning to overheat from the immense stress in the engine from running too lean car has poor sound absorption in the cabin, sounds like you're in a airplane every bump it goes over reverberates through the car for an extremely unpleasant and unsafe experience feels like there is excessive play in the front axle wheels seem to drag and thud/thump like there is a flat when there is not I've had my wheels aligned twice already, they've balanced my tires several times, even changed a wheel bearing (I am aware of the TSB released to address these concerns and you blame it on a bearing) nothing makes this better and it is getting worse my car has been to the dealership for this complaint 3 times already this year ( yes that is every week out of 2020 so far). This is becoming a complete burden in my life and I am not going to be the person who has to die for Mazda to address this.
The car ran great for the end of 2019. I bought it used at 145,000 miles. Then the automatic transmission started to slip. Now its stuck in limp mode.

These issues been happening since the second month I owned my 2019 Mazda 3 hatchback. 1- suspensions, they're very rough & harsh. , they bounce so much for no reason, I damaged one tire already while I was driving on i476 normal highway where I stepped on normal pothole ended up damaging my tire, suspensions are really dangers on all roads. 2- "adaptive cruise control" this feature many times almost caused an accident, rear end specially on highways. For some reason it doesn't detect the car in front of me when I have auto cruise enabled, no rain clear weather, this been reported more than 5 times to the dealership & its hard for them to tell what happen. They even had specialist came from CA to check up the car however it was declared the car has no issues, yet I still have issues every day, s 3- emergency breaking, sometimes it enables for no reason & the cars behind me almost rear ended me, they think I did break check but I don't the brakes! 4- peruzzi Mazda, where I purchased my car, said they will never work on my car again because "it wasted enough of their time". I have video of me picking up the car from peruzzi Mazda, dealership & it won't start up out side the service department & I called the manager & he said leave for next day, he called me day after saying it was my iphone charger. . . I asked him how the tech was able to bring it outside to the front door without no issues? he refused to answer. I work at a hospital & I daily my car to work, its not safe for me or to anyone on the road to drive it at all.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Mazda 3. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle lost power, steering ability, and the radio shut off. Also, the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was similar to the failure listed in NHTSA campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The failure mileage was 210,548.
The tcm went out and almost caused a wreck. The car was in motion on a city street. When this happened the car jerked violently to the right and almost caused my granddaughter to wreck. Did this not have a recall?.
My engine has a sudden burst of acceleration. I have to always be ready to drop it into neutral it happens upon the car starting to move.

The car idles very high which prevents it from shifting into gear most of the time. The idle and rpms will also accelerate when no one is touching the gas while driving making the car speed up when you are not speeding up. When these issues are happening the car also shuts off while driving it (while it is still on and being driven down the road) or sometimes will rev up when you push on the break causing it to launch forward. My car has almost caused several accidents because it died while driving it on the freeway and the starring wheel locked and could not be turned to drive me off to the side of the road. It has also launched forward while braking causing me to almost hit cars in front of me.
Safety recall-electrical system:alternator/generator/regulator while driving on the highway, with my wife and daughter in the backseat I notice my battery light come on. After that every warning light on dashboard came on and the car began to slow down even when pressing my foot on the gas. The car even tried stoping and the steering locked up. We were successfully able to get it towed but I believed this happen because the dealers didn't fix the recall and instaed they bypassed it.

This vehicle has had 3 repeated major service repair attempts related to the tcm, pcm at light, check engine/transmission light trying to resolve this issue permanently. This vehicle was in motion and stationary on a city street when experiencing all of these problems. This vehicle has only approximately 68,000 miles. This is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed by Mazda or buy back this vehicle. No one should have to be faced with these kinds of concerns. These systemic issues has not been favorable in my view and will having a major determing effect in future car purchase. Brand loyalty. [blah, blah, blah. . . ] 4-3-2019 at 9:27am.

On 2/14/19 between 2:30 and 3 p. M. , my mother (melissa dodson) was involved in a fatal car accident with another vehicle (a 2004 GMC envoy) that resulted in being doa. She was driving a 2018 Mazda Mazda3 sport four dr and traveling westbound on east hanover rd in graham, nc at the time of the accident. According to the unsubstantiated police report, it stated that my mother's car veered/crossed the double yellow line before impact. However, the envoy was reportedly doing 55 mph upon entering the "s" curve section of the narrow 35 mph two-lane road (which contributed to the crash). In my must humbling opinion, I have reasons to believe that there is more to the accident causing my mother's death that graham police is not investigating or has not investigated. What I mean is that I have reasons to believe that there is still an open recall on the make and model vehicle that my mother purchased (less than a month before the accident); however, I personally feel this concern is not being taken seriously. . The engine began revving high as I took my foot off the accelerator and apply the brakes as I approached a traffic red light. I put the car in neutral to see if by tapping the gas pedal it would stop revving. It did not. With my foot on the brake pedal to the floor, I put the car in drive and the car sped forward despite my foot on the brake pedal. I went through a red light trying to make a left turn on to a major highway, crossed a median strip, clipped a vehicle in the rear, turned the car trying to avoid collisions with other cars, went off the road hitting utility pole and transformer box on the opposite side of the highway, finally coming to rest with air bags deployed on the driver side. This happened on July 8, 2018, a Sunday afternoon. No one was hurt, but obviously shaken and confused how my brakes could fail on a car recently in for its 10000 mile scheduled maintenance 9 days prior. Researching this on line found similar incidents of this occurring with Mazda 3 vehicles and other manufacturers (I. E. Toyota). Referred to as sudden unintended acceleration (sua). There are many reported cases of sua, some where drivers are at fault. My case was clearly mechanical defect related.
