Recently, I took my 2012 mercedes E350 4matic for an oil change and after inspecting the vehicle, I was informed by my mechanic that the car had a rusted sub-frame, with visible holes near the right rear wheel. I was told this needed to be immediately addressed as it was a safety issue. He explained that if not fixed, the wheel could detach from the vehicle while driving and could result in a crash or serious injury/death. My mechanic indicated that Mercedes Benz of America is aware of this issue and they do not offer any assistance with the necessary repair. However, I did some research online and learned that if you own a mercedes, have this same issue and also live in germany, you can take it to a dealer for a free repair. I find it outrageous that this is not a valid safety recall and even more so, having to pay nearly 3k for the repair in order to make the car safe to drive.

The rear "k" suspension subframe assembly had to be replaced because of rust internally in the vehicle frame. There was no other rust, internally or externally visible, on the entire car. My mechanic indicated that the car would not pass inspection without major repairs at a cost of over $2800. If the subframe became disconnected, steering control would be lost resulting in a potentially serious injury due to loss of directional control at high speeds. My mechanic has already replaced parts to repair this issue on at least 4 other cars within a short period of time.

Started developing (April 2021) a rattle in car's roof along with occasional metal popping sound coming from rear of car. Continued to get worse. Then rattle stopped for a while and so did the metal popping sound. Now ( August, 2021)it sounds like there is a bolt loose in the sunroof area and the metal popping sound is really loud and I think coming from roof. Most of the time when car body twist, like going up a slight incline at an angle when entering a parking lot this incredible loud popping sound resonates throughout the entire car body. Played around on mercedes website and it appears that mercedes has problems with sunroof bolts coming loose. This is a safety defect -- if sunroof comes lose at 70 mph it is going to fly off and hurt or kill someone. Also strength of roof is compromised and if have accident where roof protection is needed it will probably fail.

Hit and run.
Mercedes benz E350 2014 - panoramic sunroof rattling and squeaking noise/sound: this issue has been reported by many online, and it is a well known problem with E350. It starts with a little bit of squeak and metallic rattle noise here and there, and then after a year or so it is almost happening all the time as you drive the car. Dealer states that sunroof frame bolts have to be retorqued and loose bolts which rattle around have to be put back on. Estimated cost $712. If not a safety risk causing pano sunroof to eventually fly off, it should definitely be a recall as many E350 owners have reported the same issue, and it is a manufacturer defect.

The panoramic roof gets stuck in open position and makes the car dangerous for flying objects into the car also I feel more dangerous for my safety and for life. In my car we have repaired the roof several times, again now the roof is stuck in open position. I believe this should be a factory recall issue as this is very marginal and poor design to result in failure so often.

Sub frame cracked.
I took my car in for its annual service on January 21, 2021, and was told that the rear subframe and brake lines were so badly rusted that the car was unsafe to drive. The entire subframe and rear left and right brake lines had to be replaced at a cost of $5,300 (Mercedes Benz USA gave me a "good will" discount so I paid less than that amount). I am the original owner of this vehicle and I take meticulous care of it. It is parked in a garage, receives every recommended maintenance check at the same mechanic (euro motorcars bethesda, MD) and has low mileage for its age. Only one year and 7,000 miles had elapsed between the car's last service and the discovery of the corrosion. In other words, in just one year the subframe of the car corroded to the extent that it was so unsafe to drive that according to the mechanic I am lucky that I did not get into an accident. I have owned many cars throughout my life for upwards of 10 years and none of them have had rust corrosion issues. I have to believe that there was something defective with the materials Mercedes Benz used on this vehicle's subframe. The NHTSA database shows that another person with the same vehicle (who coincidentally seems to have purchased his car at the same dealership where I purchased mine - euro motorcars bethesda) also filed a complaint for the exact same issue. How many other owners have had this problem but don't know that they can file a safety complaint with the NHTSA? the mechanic took a short video of the corrosion that I am not attaching to this complaint; please contact me if you would like me to send it.
Trunk has opened 6 - 8 times on its own. In just over 5,000 miles of ownership and two documented attempts to repair the problem persists. The trunk opens on its own in nearly any combination of; in motion, stopped, in gear, out of gear, moderate speed (40-50 mph), low speed (a crawl) cool temps. , warm temps. , top up, top down. I have even tried, while the car is in motion, to deliberately open the trunk with the key fob and with the door mounted release. It did not open when I tried to replicate an unintentional opening. Most recent incident, 10/24/2020- while in my garage, temperature cool ~ 65 degrees, key in ignition engine and running for about 1-2 minutes, both car doors closed, putting on seat belt, emergency brake still on, still in park, heard the trunk pop open. Confirmed the open trunk in the rear-view mirror. The eight + months between this occurrence and the last attempt to repair is misleading as the car's been driven less than 500 miles between the last repair and when the trunk opened on its own this time.
I received safety recall # 2020040011. I made an appointment at beverly hills mercedes for 9/23/20 at 10:00am. (per letter sent to me by mercedez benz. (NHTSA recall #19v918). The service man (I believe his name was tamir) told me they had no loaner for me and that 95% of the time they will do nothing regarding their recalls. I was stunned at such unprofessional and unethical behavior from a mercedez dealer. I told him to give me my car back and why did they make my appointment if they are not going to honor the safety committments in good faith.

There is a recall on my vehicle regarding the sunroof. Recall#2020040011. I took my vehicle to a mercedes dealer to have the situation remedied. I set an appointment for 10:00am. I arrived at 9:30am and checked my vehicle in. I sat in the dealership for 3 hours until I finally got tired of waiting for information. I then found the service advisor who was representing the work on my vehicle. I asked him what was going on with my car. He said he'd find out. He then came back to me and stated "they've been trying to get the roof open but can't", "it appears to be sealed shut". I told him yes, that's part of the recall reasoning. The bonding doesn't secure roof correctly, it could detach and cause a major issue. He then told me there's nothing they can do unless it's okay through mercedes. I showed him my letter again stating mercedes will remedy this problem. They told me they have to wait to hear from the mercedes manufacturer. I then asked him, " it took your dealership 3 hours to communicate to me that you couldn't get the roof open"?. 3 hours wait for this information? I was then told "they'll get back to me, they have my number". 24-72 hours to get me a answer! unacceptable service. Now I'm thinking, nothing will be done about this recall problem.

I was driving the car down 880 until I suddenly heard a cracklings noise coming from the back of my car. I had just gotten the car serviced a week before so this was very unpleasant and surprising. I ended up turning back and parking my car at home. The next day while driving to the dealer I still heard the noise and there was a weird burning smell. The noise continued even after shutting off the car. I went to the dealer and they diagnosed that the right passenger speaker had melted and they also changed my amp. In my dealer notes, it states that there have been multiple occurrences yet it seems like there is no recall.
At low speed , coming out of a grocery store parking lot, car went into sudden unintended acceleration without any warning. Fully pressing on the brake failed to slow or stop the car. With the brake not working and the car accelerating very fast the car became out of control until it crashed with a large rock /boulder when it stopped. There was extensive damage the the whole front half of the car. The car had to be towed in. I sustained a significant bruises of my breast bone and adjoining ribs. I am still in pain. This same exact malfunction with this same car as noted above occurred in 2013. I paid extra for mb to have an engineer examine the car but I was told nothing was wrong. On both occasions the air bags did not deploy.
Received recall notice stating seal of sun roof might fail and cause it to come loose while driving. Dealership states part needed is not available and no information available about when it might be.
I was driving home from work at approximately 1:30 pm on a clear, sunny day, about a minute away from my home. The road conditions were good, and there was no traffic. I stopped at the corner to make a left turn. As I proceeded to turn, the car suddenly accelerated. I immediately applied the brakes, but they did not engage. I had no control of the car. It jumped the curb ( caught on property owner's camera, going air born) , as I continued to brake as hard as I could with the car increasingly accelerating. I crashed through a fence and hit a pole which stopped the car deploying both driver side airbags. There was severe damage to the front right side of the car, and it was totaled. I was taken to the hospital via ambulance. My injury was diagnosed as acute l1 compression fracture along the superior endplate with mild anterior wedging. I was referred to an orthopedic specialist and have not returned to work due to pain and elevated blood pressure. To make matters worse, two days later I was issued a warning for failure to control speed!@&!.
Panoramic roof making noise. Upon dealer troubleshooting was informed panoramic roof weld or hardware is affected. Car only has 35000 miles and car was about week past the 5 year manufacture warranty. I was informed dealer would have to replace the panoramic sunroof and cost will be around $8500. 00 issue is noticed when car is driven and noise gets louder and frequent with high temp outside.
The contact owns a 2014 mercedes-benz E350. While driving 20 mph, smoke was detected coming from the speaker located on the rear passenger door. The vehicle was taken to atlanta classic cars (1705 boggs rd NW, duluth, GA 30096, (770) 279-3600) and the contact was informed that the speaker burst. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.
Car caught fire spontaneously while parked. A total loss.

Suspension issues, I just placed 4 new tires on my car in June of 2018. On Dec 28, 2019 my car felt as if someone was unscrewing all of my wheels off and I spent out losing control of the vehicle. I am unable to get mercedes-benz USA to share ground clearance specification for my vehicle. My car has 100. 000 miles. Mbusa directed me to the local dealer but the dealer couldn't find the spec. I was told I would receive a call back and never did. I googled info regarding my issues and saw this site and was like wow.

Since we have had this vehicle (2017) we had come to hear a loud cracking of the pano roof when turning (say from a gas station or side shop) and over the years it has become louder and louder until it is constant. It is such that we hear it all the time in warm/hot weather (like now, at the time of reporting); discussions and research has told us it is a serious problem in that the roof could give way (albeit, explode?). Are their any TSB bulletins on this issue? thank you for your consideration of this matter. Best regards, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. I was parking in front of the doctor's office when the car suddenly accelerated very fast, jumped the curb and ran into the wall of one of the examining rooms, injuring a patient. No one in the car was injured but the car was totaled. Air bgs did not deploy. This is the second incident of sudden acceleration problems but I managed to stop the car before hitting another car on our church parking lot.
This vehicle is. A 2014 Mercedes Benz E350 cabriolet on this vechile there is a latch on front seats that if pulled forward will make way to enter rear seats being that idly is a two door car this is the same lay out for accessing back seats for the coupe model the latch that must be pulled is some kind of plastic covered in some kind of metal. Decorative material this metal has peeled of with no cause he edges of this metal that is defective on these cars is extremely sharp we have severely cut are hands with out realizing these defect was there I was informed that other cars also have these problem it is a major safety risk because it is a part of the vehicle you must physically grab with your hands to have back seat access this patch is very dangerouse please be carfull it can appear out of no where like it happened to us every thing was ok then the metal coating just became defective and peeling of on its own ps I have been told from service advisors they have seen this before and other people have been injured the brown stuff on the latch is bandaids we placed there so our children don't get injured from the metal.

Panoramic sunroof exploded outward, with anything striking the car. On the road alone with no other vehicles, the glass shattered upward, held in place for a bit until I could exit, then falling inward as I pulled into a service station.
I am reporting a very serious, disturbing, shocking and tragic accident on 9/12/2015 on randall road in elgin, IL USA at 2:35 pm just after big timber road signal. My southbound 2006 Mercedes Benz E350 car was hit by the high speed out of control northbound 2014 Toyota corolla, which had crossed/swerved the center line and resulted in a head on collision/crash.
I purchased the car (certified pre-owned) on December 18, 2014. On February 13, 2015 I was parking in a restaurant parking lot. All of a sudden I felt the crash. At first I thought a vehicle had run into the back of my car. However, it turned out my vehicle had rolled backwards into another car. I had just pulled into the parking spot (which was on a slight incline) and was about to put it in park when this occurred. I accepted responsibility for the damage to my car and the other car involved and filed with my insurance. Once I had my vehicle back, I noticed that when I was stopped at a red light it felt as though the car was moving backwards. I then tested the car on a slight incline (5-10 degrees) and while in drive. It rolled backwards and continued to roll until I slammed on the brake. This car is an automatic. I have never heard of an automatic rolling backwards while in the drive position - especially on a very slight incline. I called the dealership and was told this was "normal".
Another car made an illegal u-turn and caused me to t-bone on his passenger side. Front of my car hit his passenger side and dragged his car for about 10 feet. Air bags on my car did not deploy, safety system m-brace in car failed and did not call sos either. Car safety system did not detect the crash at all. Mercedes benz did not detect a crash.
Molds and mildew build up in the air condition ducts placing people who are susceptible for infection (people with weak immune system) at risk for fatal infection. The dealer stated that this is a known and common condition for this car because the ac box does not drain the condensed water. This is because the way the car was designed. The dealer recommended turning off the ac for 30 seconds while keeping just the fan on every time before turning off the car to dry up the condensed water on the ac coils, not practical. The dealer has a known service to disinfect the ac system but because of the car design could not guarantee that the condition will not return. There is no warning or any instructions in the manual regarding this potentially fatal condition for susceptible people.
The same day plate light, trunk remote opener stop working due to melted brown wire in the trunk dealer do not want to fix actually asked for 300 to check the problem . A lots of discussion is going on the web to solve but I could not . Fuel smell in the garage often.
The contact owns a 2011 E350 Mercedes Benz. The contact stated that the tail gate would unlatch and open sporadically and without warning. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 12,000. The VIN was unavailable.
