Engine Rattling And Whining Sounds Problems of Mini Cooper

Mini Cooper timing chain tensoner defect. I have a r56 hardtop 2010 Mini Cooper. My car started having issues like turning off while driving. A rattling noise under the hood, especially on the passenger side of the car. While I was driving I heard a loud snap noise and my car shut off. The engine would not turn over after that and when I looked under the hook there was a broken valve cover. The timing chain broke and caused massive amount of damage to my car. The Mini dealership in las vegas is not honoring the lawsuit. Not really sure how to proceed. They want $3,500. In repairs. My car is only at 83,000miles and just paid off. Not sure how to proceed.

While driving in the highway, the car suddenly started shaking and having loud clunking rattling noise. The exhaust was spewing heavy white smoke. The car suddenly slowed and then stopped with " drivetrain malfunction. " we also got into an accident!.

Loud rattling noise when accelerating coming from the engine. When I come to a complete stop car has turned off, sometimes it cranks for a bit to start up. Also while driving losses power and car decelerates slows down and also pulls like if was out of gas. White smoke when you press on gas.

The very well known "timing chain failure". The event started with rattling noise in the engine bay on the passenger's side, then the big messy oil leaked and the engine was drying up and choked (made a very dangerous driving situation). Luckily, I wasn't on the highway!! BMW denied reimbursement for the repair cost of this fault design/engineering.

Just purchased used 09 Mini , 2nd owner, on start up car sounded rough, dieseling sound and was told by dealer that it was common. Then when driving at low speeds or when slowing down, terrible rattle sound. Took it in for an oil change, and the rattle went away, but then came back shortly before next oil change was due. Took it in for oil change again, and sound went away again, but then came back within days. Finally was able to get an appt with the closest authorized dealer, 50 miles away, but couldn't get in for two weeks in order to get a loaner. They had it for two days, replaced the timing chain, nylon parts were in the oil pan from the guides being shredded. Picked up the car on the third day, and fir almost one week it seemed fine. Just short of one week out of the shop and heard the rattle again. But then it was fine, so I thought it was an anomaly. One week to the day since picking it up from the repair, barely made it into the drive from taking my daughter to school. Called the shop and have it scheduled to go back in. Having the car towed to the shop as the repair tech treks me that it is "unsafe to drive. ".
