Paint oxidation on trunk, roof, and hood of a 2000 black Mitsubishi Galant that started as a small spot and grew with time. Did not notice this was a nationwide issue experienced by many black car owners until recently - data and news clips were widespread on the internet.

My Galant is just three years old and the paint is seriously fading. It is obvious that this is a defect in the paint. I have taken it to 3 mechanics and they've all told me the paint is defective. There are many Galants in my area that are older than mine and have no paint defects. This is very disturbing considering I haven't even paid the car off yet and the entire car needs a paint job because it looks awful. The top, hood and trunk of my black car are covered in huge white spots. It is terrible and I will never buy a Mitsubishi again and I also plan to report this to 6 on your side news station, so it can be made known that Mitsubishi's will fade within 2-3 years of purchase, since they don't tell you this when you buy the car.

I own a 2000 mitsubisghi Galant. In 2004 the paint began to drastically fade on the hood, trunk & roof. I believe there is a defect in the paint job. I strongly believe Mitsubishi needs to issue a recall on the paint job!.

I brought a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant brand new in 2000. I did what I was supposed to. Taking care with the finish. I washed and wax the car as required. The car was black. The paint started to fade about a year an a half ago. The car now looks white it is so bad. Because we do a great deal of driving were told we were over warranty because of the milage. We have spoken to other people that have had the same problem.
