We have not received any recalls since purchase of car. On 06/30/17,my daughter called and informed me the car was having problems. What she described sounded as if there was water in the gas. Itold her to drive to the dealer in conway ar. It was brought to our attention there was a recall on the cvt. They reprogramed it and test drove the car. They said it was ok ,but were a little iffy about whether we might have more problems. In the meantime I found out there were several recalls on the car, including the passenger side air bag and the hood latch. These were serious safety problems ,in and we had received no recalls. We would appreciate any assistance you may help with. She said it sounded as if it would blow up,at the time. She brought the car home(3. 5 hr. Drive)and after a brief stop,it would not budge. I loaded the car on a trailor and took it to the dealer in jonesboro ar. Itold the service man about it and that I had contacted NHTSA and was assigned a case #27278124,but he didn't seem too interested in it. I later found the recall on the passenger side air bag. The conway people said they preformed the hood latch recall. P. S,ialso was told the cvt recall was internal.
The OCS passenger side airbag sensor is no longer working. Nissan has refused to make any necessary repairs to ensure the safety of the vehicle. Nissan rep. Quinn, first claim it was due to mileage. The second call, from yesterday, she stranded it was a warranty issue. Given the continuing issues with the sensor, the interest of public safety and the lack of assistance with repairs, it is necessary to report this defect to the nhtsha.
Passenger side airbag is off when a person is in the passenger seat at the start of the drive, then after about 10 miles the passenger airbag off lamp goes off. This vehicle had service for passenger airbag when new.
I have had an issue with the passengers side airbag for 3 years now. You can have a 140 up to a 300 pound passenger in the seat and the air bag turns off. I have been jerked around by the dealer and Nissan America. They can't get it to turn the light on. . I have it on videos not working. . They have re-flashed it several times or I was told they have. The car is not safe for a passenger to be in. Per Nissan yesterday 8/8/2016 a new recall is coming. This has been 3 years now and the car is now past the warranty period. . I am sure they will try to charge me now. . . Would you put a loved one in that seat knowing the air bag may not work??? Nissan was to call me again today 6/9/2016 and still has not happened. . Time to replace all the sensors and the controllers. . .
Takata recall - took my vehicle in to have the OCS system software updated due to the recall and was told that that the I needed to replace the OCS sensors in order for the passenger airbags, to work properly. Dealer said that this was not covered under the recall and said that it would cost $300. Left with the same problem that I had before, I went in for the so called software upgrade. In the event of an accident, chances are that the passenger side airbag, will not be deployed!! why are they trying to make me pay for a defective product that should be covered under the recall??,.
Passanger side air bag no longer works, the air bag says its off and malfunctioned. Will not show when someone is sitting inn the seat. Thus never setting the passanger air so if you get into an accident it would not deploy. When the air bag malfunctioned it was sitting in the driveway we turned it on and the light came on and has never went out.
I'm having and issues with the passenger side airbag not engaging when I have a passenger in the front seat, not registering that there is someone sitting in the seat. . Another issues is water saturating the passenger floor boards all the way to the back seat when is rains outside.
We have tried to have Nissan fix our passenger side airbag at least 3 times (one including for a safety recall issued) and the problem is still occurring. The dealership has replaced the sensor once and reprogrammed the computer system twice. The most recent time this occurred is the date above. The airbag is off when I am sitting in the seat and I am a 130 pound female. This doesn't happen every time I am in the passenger side but it could be off on a trip 15 minutes away from my house and on the way home it could be on. We have notified the dealership that this still occurs and we met with what they said was one of their "best technical experts" and were told that there is nothing wrong with our vehicle and they will do nothing about this problem because it is working to manufacturers specifications. They said it could be the way I am seated in the seat or the type of road we are driving on. We have multiple videos of me in the passenger seat, sitting upright, with the light on stating that my airbag is off.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that with a 180 pound passenger seated in the front passenger seat, the air bag sensor light had illuminated indicating that the passenger side air bag was deactivated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer in July, 2014 and the front passenger air bag system was replaced. The failure continued to occurr and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who indicated that the system was operating as normal and no problem could be found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000. Jft.
Brought my car in when I received the recall notice from Nissan that the passenger side air bag had an issue due to a software glitch. After bringing the car in and having the software updated, a few days later, the light again came on while there was a passenger (myself, adult female about 130 lbs) in the passenger side seat (my husband was driving and noticed the light had come on). I reported it to the dealer where I had bought the car and had the recall repair made, they told me there were several other cars also reporting that the error continued even after having the software fix applied. They told me I'd have to bring the car in and they would try to duplicate the error and possibly replace a seat track, but would need to confirm with Nissan on whether or not they could do this. I think it is ridiculous that if they know there is an issue and know the fix did not fix it, they need to proceed with additional steps in order to resolve this failure in the safety equipment.
The passenger side airbag "off" light will illuminate when a passenger around 130 lbs sits in the passenger seat. When this occurs (about half of the time), the light illuminates upon engine startup and the passenger is seated. The only way to get the light to turn off is to shut off the car and restart it with the passenger still in the seat. The passenger airbag "off" light does not illuminate when I start the car first, and then the passenger sits in the seat. I have also noticed the light illuminate when my 5 lb work bag is in the passenger seat and I take a sharp turn around a highway ramp (turning for about 10 seconds). This all occurs even after the car was re-programed under recall 14v138000.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger side air bag sensor light would intermittently illuminate indicating that the air bag system was not activated although the passenger was seated in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the failure was caused by the occupant classification system software. The software was updated but the failure continued to intermittently occur. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 9,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the passenger's side air warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the air bag passenger occupant sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 35 and the current mileage was 4,000.
Passenger presence detection system failed to recognize a passenger and enable the passenger side air bag approximately 30% of the time. Dealer reprogrammed the controller. Same error occurred 2 months later. Dealer reprogrammed the controller and advised against placing anything over about 10 lbs in the passenger seat as this would corrupt the presence detection algorithm. But the dealer couldn't offer any assurance that the system wouldn't fail again.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the passenger's side air bag warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The computer was reset as a precaution. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,500 and the current mileage was 36,300.
The passenger side air bag does not engage when individuals sit in the passenger seat. The airbag sensor shows the airbag non-operational even when individuals of appropriate size and weight are sitting in the passenger seat. Nissan has no known fixes for the situation and state that its a "break in" period. This is a brand new car purchased one week ago. Serious injury could result from an non-operational airbag and I am not willing to wait for the break in period.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the passenger's side air bag warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician explained that the passenger's weight was not enough to activate the sensor. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 4,464.
2013 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sl. On multiple occasions with a person in the passenger the passenger side air bag was indicated as being off. This is happening with full grown adults all of whom have been over 150 pounds. I believe this to he a faulty sensor in the cars seat cushion. Once driving for 10-15 minutes the light goes off indicating airbag is now on. This usually occurs if the car is already running and a passenger enters the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the passenger side air bag shut off independently as a passenger was occupying the seat. The vehicle was taken to two different dealers for a total of five times for the failure. The contact was informed each time that the failure could not be recreated. The contact was informed of the recall under NHTSA campaign id number: 13v069000 (air bags) and contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in the recall and no assistance was provided. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 250 and the current mileage was 21,000.
