Hi, I am an owner of a Nissan Altima 2013 s vehicle. Recently I noticed that airbag light came on and I took it to the dealership. Dealership diagnosed with b0028-13 and said it was a past code and cleared the code. It came back on again while I was driving after a month. I again diagnosed and the same code and showing a past code. Dealer couldn't identify the problem and said it needs to replace the whole seat, which will cost 1800 dollars. They said the airbag control module for the passenger side needs to be changed. And I noticed one thing, after code is getting cleared, the airbag warning light doesn't come all of a suddenly, although it has some problem with passenger occupancy too, as sometime even if an adult sit in the front passenger seat, passenger airbag stays off. Which is very risky while driving. Nissan has no answer to that. And right after that, airbag warning light comes back. I am a student and don't have that much of money to get this costly repair ( seat replacement) done and is a big safety issue. Please help me in this matter.

8 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2019

The passenger airbag dah light indicated that the airbag was "off" while an adult was occupying the passenger seat. I took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership who determined that 2 airbag modules were deflective, not working and needed to be replaced at my expense. I contacted Nissan USA, franklin, TN and explained the problem. Consumer affairs department said there was not a campaign or recall for this problem but would look in to it for a possible "goodwill" coverage. After contacting the dealership that inspected the car, Nissan offered to cover 60% of the cost. This may a good "goodwill" gesture, but I can only imagine the possible catastrophic bodily injury that could have occurred in an accident if I hadn't noticed this problem. These are not moving parts. I find it hard to believe that there is no warning light or indicator for this failure. How many other Altimas could be affected by this problem?10/27/2019.

17 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Hello, my 2013 Nissan Altima has a safety issue with the airbag. Since August 2017, the car's airbag alarm light is on。 after this happened, I went to gainesville Nissan two times, but the problem is not been solved. The first time was on 9/1/2017. They (gainesville Nissan) charged me $34. 78 and told me the problem was the airbag sensor, the warning light was removed at that time. But after about two months the airbag light was on the dashboard again. So I went to gainesville Nissan the second time, on 3/5/2018. This time they charged $49. 95 and still said it was a problem with the airbag sensor. Unfortunately, the airbag alarm light show on the dashboard one more time after about one month until now. After these two repairs, I have reason to believe that my 2013 Nissan Altima airbag has quality problems, and gainesville Nissan is very irresponsible. And Nissan is recalling cars on a large scale because of airbag problems, I hope my problems can be solved, thanks.

18 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2017

2013 Nissan Altima s - safety system defect / malfunction problem:2 aspects (1)the OCS airbag and seatbelt system warning light "incorrectly indicates" a passenger is not in the seat when in fact the seat is occupied! this condition "turns off the air bag protection for an adult passenger!" (2)the seatbelt light incorrectly indicates that a passenger is unbelted. Erroneous test results: Nissan tests this safety system on equipment programmed by Nissan via a humanly devised algorithm. In other words, since the test equipment is programmed incorrectly, the results will be wrong. Proof: Nissan has recalled to reprogram my vehicle 4 times (I think) a new test algorithm. Additionally, Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there could be a faulty components of this safety system. If the test fails to show a system fault. Nissan ignores the problem. Nissan refuses to replace components of this faulty system. 2013 2017ocs system malfunction continues after multiple reprogrammings by Nissan. Nissan has never fixed this faulty system. Nissan needs to replace this safety system immediately!.

23 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2016

After the 2016 recall, to correct the faulty passenger air bag off condition, when a passenger not meeting the minimum airbag deployment requirements is seated the the passenger seat, the drivers "air bag off" warning indicator is now always illuminated when the passenger's seat is unoccupied. This condition leads to incorrect operation of the warning indicator which now displays this warning during a normal operating condition of the vehicle. Under normal operating conditions when there is no passenger in the vehicle, the constant illumination of the warning light will over time be ignored because of its constant on condition. The operation of the this indicator makes about as much sense as having the "seat belt unfastened" warning light always illuminated for an unfastened seat belt for an unoccupied passenger seat. . The inappropriate and misleading operation of warning indication leads to the operator's disregard of the warning indicator's significance. Over time, the driver will accept the on condition of this warning light as a normal operating indication and may lead the driver not recognizing the significance if this warning light remaining "on" in the event that a front seat passenger, meeting the air bag deployment criteria, occupies the seat. The operation of this warning light must be returned to its per-recall operation of only illuminating when the passenger seat is occupied by a passenger not meeting the criteria for air bag deployment. Any other operation of this warning light yields erroneous misleading passenger safety information to the operator of the vehicle. This safety condition must be corrected.

30 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

I have had trouble with my cars " air bag off " warning light staying lit with a passenger in the seat ever since I bought the car new . It has been to the dealership to be " repaired " 4 times . Each time it was not corrected . Recently I brought the car in for this problem as part of the safety recall . Despite this ,once again this past weekend the " airbag off " light comes on even though a passenger is in the seat . The light will come on randomly and then stay lit the whole time I am driving . . . No matter how the passenger sits or moves in the seat it will not turn off until the car is turned completely off and then restarted . Now the dealer says to bring the car in for the 5th time and they will see if there is an error code . ( in the past there has not been any error codes retained ) I feel this car is completely unsafe for my family until this problem can be fixed . . . Until then I never know if my airbags are truly working correctly . . . And I don't want to have to find out after an accident that they weren't . My last Nissan !.

34 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

I am sending this email to notify you a possible severe safety risk caused by the failure of airbag passenger detection sensor. Recently I found that the seat belt warning light is malfunctioning in case a heavy bag with 22 lb weight is placed in the right side passenger seat. If heavy bag is placed in the right front seat, the seat pressure sensor detects the heavy bag as a passenger is seated and the car safety system turns on the seatbelt warning indicator on driver's monitor screen. This is the detection algorism failure for seatbelt detection system. So, to turn off seat belt warning red light, I fastened the seatbelt of rightside front seat even though there was no passenger in the seat. Then the seat belt warning light (red) is turned off. But even though seat belt warning light is turned off, this failure also makes the front passenger airbag to stop functioning, as the system turns on "front passenger airbag status indicator" with orange color light. And this means the airbag is not functioning in case of accident if the heavy bag is placed in the front right side seat of the car. This detection algorism failure may lead a severe injury in case of accident. So please refer and test with above condition, and fix this problem by recommending or taking action to upgrade the front passenger detection algorism and related software, to stop the malfunctioning of front airbag system. If you see this notice, please give me your reply for confirmation of receiving this message. Solving and notifying this problem is very important because the insurance company also matters this faults and the insurance company also recognizes and makes record history that other passenger was seated in the pls give me your email, that I may send file attachment for detailed explanation for this complaint.
