My vehicle has a code failure for the air bag sensor light. In order to pass inspection the light has to clear itself and it is not. I’ve had this vehicle since 2015 and have never had this issue. After talking to a representative at Nissan service department, he claimed that this is an issue he has with his Nissan as well leading me to believe that this is a manufacturer issue. Upon receiving a diagnostic there is no actual damage to the sensor in question it’s just malfunctioning. Below is an explanation from the service team at Nissan. Diagnostic trouble code: b00a0-00 occupant sensor mal. Checked harness for any damages and found none. Unplugged unit and sensor and reconnected them. Attempted to clear codes did not clear, unsuccessful. Attempted to perform zero point relearn, unsuccessful. Attempt to clear codes again and codes did not clear.
Airbag sign came on at millage 112000 all of a sudden and the passenger occupancy sensor turn off and on intermittently while vehicle is in motion. Mechanic are recommending to replace airbag module which might cost couple of thousand dollars. Please help me! the diagnostic code says b0028-13.
Driving our vehicle per usual, no crashes, safely made it from point a to b. The next morning, the sensor for air bags comes on. It continues to stay there with no explanation from google other than the sensor being an issue.
The occupant classification system sensor was re-programmed years ago during the recall and now it is not recognizing when people sit in the passenger seat no matter the vehicle condition (stationary, in motion, etc). Not sure if it just a failure with my part or something else, but it is concerning.
The passenger front air bag sensor has failed. The air bag is always off with a red warning on the console, regardless if there is someone in the passenger or not. Other Altima's of that model year have had recalls issued for this problem. My car is not on the recall list. You can't imagine how much Nissan wants to replace the sensor.
I had recieved a notice for recall on the passenger air bag sensor in seat was not registered to someone sitting in seat. Took car to dealership to repair and it still does not register an occupant. So now it stays on and so does the driver warning sensor light. When it register a body both lights go off. Puzzled. Please advise. Attached is a picture of the problem at hand.
I have had the following issues with the Nissan Altima: air bag sensor issues sometimes sensor malfunctions (looked at 3 x, not fixed), rear view camera sometimes does not work (looked at 3 x, not fixed), transmission cvt issues sometimes jumps into gear (looked at 3 x, not fixed), seat belt sometimes locks up (looked at 1 x, not fixed). Issues happen while in motion or starting.
The vehicle's passenger airbag sensors do not detect when a passenger is occupying the passenger seat and remains in off position with a red light on the dash board. (this vehicle was recalled in 2016 and repaired already. ).
Passenger seat sensor does not detect passenger most times, meaning the air bag does not activate. Happens more when passenger is seated before the car is started. This happens with any passenger, all different sizes and weights. Dealer has not found any error codes, and sensor has been reset multiple times. All previous recalls to this issue have been implemented, issue still exists.
We brought the car into the dealership because of the OCS recall and they reprogrammed the system but it didn't seem to fix the issue, within the year we had to replace both OCS sensors and have it reprogrammed again. I do not feel they met the intent of the recall and would love to know if this issue is/was common and what if anything can be done about it.
Airbag sensor not detecting weight on passenger seat at all times. Problem started when car had a relatively low milage (under 50k). Dealership said problem is due to airbag module with no recalls on this specific car. Airbags on passenger side are completely not functional at all times. I was very hesitant to file a complaint until now.
Passenger air bag not recognizing when someone is in the seat. Airbag remains off even with a passenger in the seat. The dealer has looked at the car multiple times and they state they can not find the problem. They have worked on the sensors and recalibrated them but the light continues to go on and off and airbag appears to be nonfunctional. Dealer says they can not duplicate the issue and system is operating as designed. . Light continues to come on intermittently when the seat is occupied.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact's vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall. After the recall repair, the dealer (d-patrick Nissan, 4200 e division st, evansville, in 47715) stated that due to the recall being repaired, the sensor for the air bag on the passenger side would no longer work properly. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The failure mileage was 115,000.
Passenger air bag sensor indicates air bag is disabled when seat is occupied by an adult. This happens when vehicle is both stationary and in motion. This happens off and on but has not shown up when at the dealership. Last instance was today.
For 3 years we have been dealing with this particular issue, with no resolution. The dashboard light signaling that the passenger air bag is properly activated for an adult occupant comes on or does not come on when it is supposed to. This occurs whether the car is stationary or on the move. The dealer has told us not to put anything on the passenger seat = ridiculous. The dealer then said that it "reprogrammed the system". Then the dealer told us that they needed to replace the sensor. I believe this has been done 2 x. We last had this attended to sept 15, 2015 but the "so-called repair" did not work again. This air bag issue is serious, and we feel unsafe in this car, therefore we have driven less than 2000 miles in 5 months - the car sits in the garage. The problem is intermittant = we don't know when the air bag system is functioning correctly - we must assume it is malfunctioning!.
Randomly, the airbag sensor for the passenger side indicates as being off even when there is someone seating on it. This issue (supposedly) was already been looked at by the local Nissan dealer when a recalled was implemented for this issue. But it is happening again.
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima. The passenger seat air bag occupant sensor comes on showing that the passenger air bag is turned off when an adult is sitting in the seat. The adult is 200 lbs. The light will stay on while driving. My car was recalled for the occupant sensor classification reset. It did not change anything. It still does the same thing. I have complained about it numerous times to the dealer. The dealer says there is no fix for this and no codes in the computer. It seems that if the passenger sits in the car, buckles the seat belt before the car is started then the issue happens less often, as if the car only checks if the seat is occupied on startup.
This is the fourth time the passenger air bag sensor light came on with an adult in the seat. Nissan has attempted to fix it numerous time without success. I question whether the bag will go off in an accident. I was told by the local dealer that I should call corporate and recorded the complaint. They said they would get back to me.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag sensor on the front drivers side malfunctioned and did not illuminate when there was a passenger in the front passenger seat. The air bag sensor randomly illuminated. The vehicle was to be inspected and diagnosed by an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 6,300. Dyd.
My Nissan dealer supposedly said they fixed a faulty passenger air bag sensor. Since the "fix" the sensor is showing that there is no passenger in the seat when in fact their is someone riding there. When I went for my last routine oil change about three weeks ago, I let them know of the problem but they said that I would have to come back and schedule a different appointment to have this fixed.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag sensor illuminated intermittently. The dealer cleared the computer code, but the failure recurred. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 13v069000 (air bags) and 14v138000 (air bags, electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag and seat belt warning sensors illuminated. The dealer cleared the codes, but the failures recurred. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign number: 14v138000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer numerous times, but the technician was unable to remedy the failure. In addition, the contact heard a loud noise while driving 25 mph and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,919.
The light continued to come on and off when someone sat in the passenger side that airbag off. I had it check and it was reset in 4/2014. It has indicated it was off random times when there was a passenger in the seat. I brought the car in for the recall of front hood latch and had the airbag sensor checked. I was told it was the sensor and it needed to be replaced and it would cost $700. For part and labor. I do not feel if a sensor is not working that is not from a wear and tear issue. It a defected part and it shouldn't have anything to do with the warranty. Especially being the car is only a 2013. I have tried several times to go through Nissan. They have continue to tell me there is nothing they can do it's out of warranty. I tried explaining how this has been going on since I got the car and I'm not so sure they are hearing what I'm telling them. They say the same thing as if they are reading a script. There is terrible customer service. This is a defect and should be replaced from the dealership. Do you have any suggestions where I need to go from here?.
The passenger seat airbag sensor fails to notice a 110 pound passenger in the seat. This results in a warning on the display that the passenger airbag is disabled. The first incident was last fall. The date and mileage above is just a guess, the second time was on or about March 20, 2014 when the warning remained on for about 5 miles or until I stopped and restarted the car at a traffic light. It happened again April 5, 2013. The warning stayed on until I shut off the engine and then restarted it. I am not sure but it may be affected by whether of not her seat belt buckle is engaged before or after the car is started. (please note that this is my wife's car and their is seldom anyone in the passenger seat. ) there was a recall for this issue in 2013 and there has been an announcement of a new recall starting soon. Both recalls are only for selected VIN numbers and neither includes our Altima. I checked with Nissan corporate customer service and with the dealer and they both confirmed the recalled vehicles do not include our car. The car is titled to my wife shizuko jacobson.
Tl * the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact¿s vehicle was repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number: 14v138000 (air bags); however, the failure recurred. The dealer stated that the floor mat sensor needed to be reprogrammed. While a passenger was seated in the front passenger seat, the air bag sensor failed to illuminate. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. Jcc.
Well I have dropped my car off for the 5th time for this same issue, this time they told me they replaced the passenger sensor, but could not get it to reset, so they had to order another sensor and my car sat for 3 extra days but they installed them and I recieved my vehicle back on July 5th and on July 6th the light showing my passenger airbag is off was on while an adult is sitting in the seat. Ihave tried to have Nissan purchase the car back but ll they tell me is that they do not interpret that my car falls under the lemon law but in my state it is if I have a problem repaired 3 or more times and the problem is still occuring, or a safety issue being repaired once and it is still occuring then it will fall under it, so now I have to go and spend more time and money on a lawyer. This is a serious problem. It is also occuring in the new rogues. I have had 2 seperate rogue loaner cars and they both too have the passenger airbag turn off while an adult is sitting in the seat. I have videos of all three vehicles.
2013 Nissan Altima. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle passenger seat air bag malfunction. The consumer stated upon leaving the dealership, he noticed a light on the dashboard indicating the passenger seat air bag was not functioning. When the consumer called the dealership, he was advised by the salesperson, that his wife should jump up and down on the seat to correct the problem. On July 3, 2013, the consumer returned to the dealer to correct the problem. The consumer was informed the computer did not indicate there was a problem, and since the vehicle only had a few hundred miles, it should be ok. On July 13, 2013, the consumer returned to the dealer, where the consumer informed them, the light appeared on the dashboard on three separate occasions, while driving on the highway. The consumer insisted that the proper repair be made, only to be told that removing the seat and changing the sensor could not be accomplished at his request and under no condition would the repair be implemented without a recall notice from Nissan.
I first had the air bag passenger sensor warning come on and stay on for around fifteen minutes and then it went off. My wife was sitting in the passenger seat in all these incidents. This happened twice before I took it in to the dealer and they told me there was a recall for the seat sensors. They replaced the sensors and performed the zero point reset on may 31, 2013. Prior to sept. 6, 2013 I had the same problem of the passenger sensor warning come on and staying on for ten to 15 minutes. On sept. 6th they secured some cables and performed another zero point reset. Prior to Feb. 21, 2014 I had the same problem and they performed another zero point reset on Feb. 21. On March 15th I had the same problem one night when we drove 5 blocks from a friends house and it was still on when I shut the car off. I haven't taken it back to the dealer yet but the zero point reset doesn't seem to be solving the problem. At this point I don't know if anyone in the front passenger seat is being protected or not. Has anyone else been reporting problems with this cars sensors?.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated when an adult passenger was seated in the front seat, the air bag sensor light illuminated indicating that the front passenger seat air bag system was defective. The contact stated that the air bag sensor light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired under the NHTSA recall campaign number 14v138000 (air bags , electrical system) but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The failure mileage was 1,000. The vehicle was taken to the dealer four times. They re-programmed the computer twice, and replaced the sensors, to no avail. Updated 07/22/14.
Passenger airbag sensor was occasionally showing that airbag deployment was deactivated when there was an adult passenger seated in that seat with their seatbelt on. Took it into Nissan dealership the car was purchased from and they said there was a recall on my vehicle for a faulty sensor, and they "reset the software" for this system until the part came in. Went back to same dealership for the recall to be fixed for a second time and they again "reset the software" and the service manager stated that the manufacturer said they need to reset the software twice before replacing the sensor. I called Nissan and they stated this was not true, and it should be replaced not software reset. If they are lying and cutting corners on replacing a recalled part that puts somebody's life in danger, then what else are they lying about.
Air bag off light comes on with passenger in seat. Dealer checked, no issue found. Months later, light continues to come on, dealer finally replaced sensor and reprogrammed car's computer. As of today, two years later, light still turns on. Have pics of air bag off light on with passenger in seat, and light on with no passenger in seat. Car now out of 36,000 mile warranty, but have appointment with dealer to check out again on 04/14/2015.
Bought 2013 Altima in Feb. In March noticed the passenger light was on when someone was sitting in the seat. Followed by on and off frequently. Took the car to the dealer. . . . . Said he found sensor was bad. On Nov. 5,2013 it happened and returned to the dealer who said it showed no errors. Told me it was safe but if the light came on take a picture. It came on twice on 11/8/2013. I am at a loss of what to do other than hold Nissan libel for not fixing an obvious safety defect. I will return to the dealer later this week in November 2013. How can we get Nissan to react to our protection on an obvious complaint from so many owners?.
2013 Nissan Altima that at times passenger air bag off light is on even though a 130lb person is sitting in seat. After 4 occurrences and seeing a recall for sensor issues I took car to dealer and was told my car not part of recall and they did not find any computer codes to indicate a problem. They could not duplicate the problem. No actions taken. I am concerned about is the air bag working if we have an accident.
After I bought the car I noticed the driver's side rear view mirror was vibrating while driving at all speeds. Then the dealer replaced the mirror several times until they fixed the vibrating problem. But now, the mirror they replaced it with seems to be a generic mirror, seems like a convex mirror and the objects and view look deformed. It isn't a flat mirror and the dealer said that is normal and all the cars have that same mirror. That is a lie because when they changed my very first mirror due to vibrating, it was flat and clear. This issue has not been solved but now they replaced 2 sensors that are on recall and waiting for a third sensor on the driver's airbag to be replaced as well due to recall. I am so tired of going back and forth to the dealer that I am finally going to file a complaint, this car is a lemon! (2013 Nissan Altima sv -pearl white).
Passenger air bag indicates off with occupant in seat. - returned to dealer for repair on Jan,21, Apr 4, may 14 and June 4. Dealer replaced occupant sensors on April 4,2013. Problem was not rectified, they claim there is no defect. Filed complaint with Nissan consumer affairs, they claim they could only go by what dealer states. Therefore they are useless to consumer.
