Air Bag Light On problems of the 2014 Nissan Altima - part 1

The airbag light has been on consistently.

The airbag light won't turn off. I'm unsure which airbag, but from what I understand the light on means airbags won't deploy correctly in the event of an accident. It started on 12/13/20 and has continued throughout 12/14/20. The light stays on regardless of what position it's in. Parked, turning, driving, etc.

As of November 2020, the airbag indicator illuminated and remained on. It initially occurred when starting the car and there were no passengers. My concern is whether the airbag will deploy properly in the event of a crash, which is a safety issue.

For several months the passenger side airbag indicator light has been working intermittently. Sometimes the light shows unoccupied when an adult is sitting in the passengers seat. I don't know if the airbag is working properly or not. I took my vehicle into the Nissan dealer in leesburg, FL last week for routine service and told them about the problem. They performed a diagnostic test and did not find any fault codes. They then got in and out of the seat several times and said the airbag light displayed properly. The next day with an adult passenger in the seat the light again showed unoccupied. Why hasn't there been a recall regarding this problem.

Passenger airbag light is on even when someone is in the seat now the one on the dashboard is staying on no codes coming up on computer this is happening when car is in motion and stationary tried resetting light is still on.

The airbag light will not shut off after reset.

I had an airbag light come on recently. My Nissan dealer said there was something wrong with the side airbag which is built into the driver's seat and would require the back portion of the driver's seat to be replaced. This is a 2014 Altima with less than 30k miles on it already having an airbag fault out of nowhere with no accident. It concerns me that I am having to foot a $1600 bill to fix a piece of safety equipment that the manufacture seems to have poorly made.

My airbag light just came up on the dashboard and would come off I just started the car and it's been on ever since.

The same as everyone else complaint, passenger air bag light does not go off after 7 seconds when car started supposedly no recall !!!! safety hazard.

Airbag light for passages seat belt is on. I had one of them repaired before. What do I do now?.

We have not had any accident and the air bag lights came on. The vehicle was not moving. We turned it on in the morning and it came up. We did not know what it was at first until my husband friend informed it that it was the air bag about 2 days later when he sent him a picture.

Air bag light comes on and stays on when car is turned on. My daughter says the hood of the car is vibrating when driving!.

Passenger air bag indicator stays lit indicating air bag is not operational even though an adult is occupying the passenger seat.

Airbag light came on and the error code was b0020, which is the drivers side, they reset at the dealer. It came back on a week later and I took it back. They told me they checked the wires and it all looked fine. They don't know if the airbag will deploy if in an accident so I need to replace it and it will cost $1000. They also sold me the car in April and in may the light came on. Very annoyed by this.

Curtain side air bag light is on; sometimes it turns off but then it turns on.

On occasion when passenger enters vehicle, air bag indicator light does not go out giving the appearance that the vehicle does not think a passenger is in the vehicle. Typically occurs when passenger is entering vehicle at the same time the vehicle is being started. Can usually be �resolved� by turning vehicle off and on again. Has occurred multiple times.

The passenger airbag light is on saying there is somebody in the seat and nobody is.

The air bag light came on showing the airbag for the driver is no longer working. I thought there was a recall on it since I have heard and read online this has been a common problem. Same with the engine light glitch I have read is a common problem which doesn't allow my car to accelerate properly when that light is on.

Airbag indicator stays on on my dashboard when the ignition is turned on and even after the car is in motion or is in still position.

The airbag light comes on the dash and will not turn off. When the vehicle was brought to the dealership they stated the VIN was not included on the vehicle recall list although we are encountering the same issues. The issue occurs whether the car is still or in motion and whether the seat is occupied or not. It's not safe to have a passenger.

Hood latch is hard lock. Airbag light stays on.

Passenger airbag indicator fails to go off when a passenger is sitting. Nissan refuses to accept this as a manufacturing defect and is a serious safety issue that should be part of a recall. There is no accident involved yet but it should be reported to hence this complaint.

Passengers side airbag light is on when someone is in the seat. We have had it to the dealer and they say they can't duplicate the problem. We videoed it and showed it to them and I have called Nissan miss ashley didn't want to hear it. Ashley also said it is not under warranty or recall and they I will have to pay. I just checked the web and found other people with the same complaint. I just payed 646. 00 to get it fixed and the light is on. The light stays on going down the road highway or city driving. Sitting still or moving. Oh by the way did I mention my daughters 2015 Nissan Altima is having the same problem. Ashley at Nissan also blew her off. Is there any remedy to this problem.

Nissan issued recall on the passenger side airbag sensor that disengages the airbag when a grown adult is seated in the passenger seat. My car was recalled and "supposedly" fixed, but two separate incidences have occurred where the passenger airbag light indicating the airbag is off when a person is seated there has occurred. The issue was not resolved fully with Nissan's warranty fix and Nissan is looking into my car further on how to fix the issue. The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated after the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

My 2014 Nissan Altima drivers side airbag light has come on for the fourth time since new. (todays date 09/26/2016) the first two times, Nissan reset it and conveniently didn't make a record of it in the repair history while it was in warranty. I took it in a few weeks ago because the light was on again, they said it was a loose connection under the seat caused by a box of kleenex, which I think is not true. Last week the light came back on again with nothing under the seat. This time, they said I need a new airbag at a cost of $1100, claiming I never brought it in for the drivers side and that I have to pay for it because my car now has 70k miles on it, never-mind it is only 2 years old. My main concern is that this clear and obvious defect causes a significant risk to the occupants because it prevents any of the airbags from deploying in an accident. I cannot afford to spend over $1000 on a part that should never go bad on a car that is only 2 years old. Fyi: the vehicle was in motion when the airbag light came on every time and every time it came on there was nobody in the back seat, nor was the seat being adjusted or was anything interfering with the plug, as Nissan tries to claim.

My Altima was under recall for the air bag light on dash. Had it to the dealer twice and the light stays on when someone is in passemger seat. And we're driving.

Received the NHTSA campaign number: 16v244000 update for OCS error on passenger airbag. I had submitted a complaint regarding this after Nissan's previous update did not fix the issue. This issue is still not resolved. After 2 months of use I am seeing that when my wife is in the passenger seat the airbag light notifying me that there is no passenger in the passenger seat stays on still. I can 'reset' by turning the vehicle off and restarting it but can not be positive that the vehicle is actually 'seeing' the passenger. This seems to be a very big issue with Nissan and would like to have it resolved. I have not talked with them since when I do the answer I've previously gotten is "we've completed the update and don't know why it's not working for you" bring it in and we'll look - to no avail. So I prefer not to let them play around since resetting the computer does nothing.

2014 Nissan Altima. Consumer writes in regards to airbag light stays on while traveling and dealerships refusal to repair/replace hood latch assembly that's stated in recall notice 16v-029. The dealer claimed the hood latch had already been replaced.
