There is a recall for 2005 Nissan Altima because of over heating due to a failing crankshat/camshaft position sensor which causes car to stall unexpectedly and cause vehicle to crash. Well my vehicle is not on the recall list but yet have the same issue and almost was rear ended by another vehicle due to sensor getting hot and causing car to stall and decrease speed dramatically. And with Nissan not recalling my VIN for the same obvious reasons for the recall. So I'm being forced to drive this unsafe car that I've let Nissan know is defected, thus endangering myself and the public. It's as though I have to be in an accident and then have to sue Nissan because of neglet and allowing one of their vehicles continue to operate knowing that there is an issue with its safety. So I may be forced to have problem fixed but would like to be reimbursed for repairs.

I was driving the freeway and lost power engine and shut offs I'm not sure how I didn't have the accident yet. Take it to mechanic find out it was a throttle body position sensor and the throttle body camshaft position sensor crankshaft position sensor replaced all that still giving the same problem how to replace it again. So the speed limit was 70 I was going 65 so lost lost in the entire engine at speed of 65 is really difficult to maneuver.
The vehicle threw a code for the camshaft sensor had that replaced then the vehicle threw a code for the crankshaft sensor. Midas replaced two of them still could not clear the code. The vehicle will start in drive but it will sputter while stopped like it is going to stall. When slowing down or coming to a stop the car will shut off and is very difficult to get started again.

My car would stall and shut off while driving. It happened one driving about 20mph and then a few times in traffic. Then would not crank to start. Check engine light came on. Had the codes read and it was po725 speed sensor po335 camshaft sensor. I had both parts replaced 2 times. Car still has a hard start and check engine light is still on. There is a recall from Nissan for this problem on 2006 Nissan Altima recall id#90579. I called Nissan and they said my VIN is not affected??.
Car stalled two times within 20 minutes when slowing car down to make a turn. Meineke and paul miller Nissan of fairfield, CT identified that parts 23731-al61a (crankshaft/camshaft sensor) and 23731-6j90b (camshaft posaition sensor) need to be replaced. These sensors were part a recall for the same make, year and model of car that I own. Nissan n. A. Claims that my VIN was not a part of the recall. 630,000+ vehicles were affected by this recall but my vehicle does not apply. On line complaints suggests that the exact same complaint keeps reoccurring but Nissan has not expanded there VIN registery to include all cars that are affected. Spoke with Nissan n. A. Case expediter who stated my vehicle VIN was not on the affected list although my complaint was the same as those vehicles on the list. Nissan representative would not tell me where my part was made and where the defective parts were in fact made. Claimed that this was internal Nissan information that they had no obligation to give me.

The car stopped the cam shaft sensors were bad. And the rattle in my passenger side cant find the problem.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light remained illuminated and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the vehicle failed to start on the first attempt and the contact would have to wait to try again. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic was diagnosed who that the ignition coils needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the independent mechanic who repaired the camshaft sensor. The vehicle was returned to another independent mechanic who diagnosed that the in crankshaft sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000. Ne.
Nissan says car does not fall under recall for p0335 and p0425 engine light codes! crank and cam shaft sensors had to get both replaced $151. 68 and $218. 00! I am not happy.
I was driving down the interstate going 60-65 mph, with my girlfriend and my newborn daughter. The check engine light came on, the car shut off and the engine stalled with a river of traffic surrounding around me. After about 10 minutes the car finally started back up & ran fine. A few days later the car became harder to start and the engine shut off on the interstate once again. I got the engine code, checked out and it was p0340 (cam shaft position sensor). Upon further research I noticed that this is a very common nationwide problem. Not only does the engine stall while driving, it completely causes the motor to shut off! the motor in a vehicle shutting off while going down a jammed interstate or going across railroad tracks is extremely unsafe and it is unacceptable to not get recognized. After experiencing this horrible situation, and viewing the countless people who have experienced it as well. I am flabbergasted the cam/crankshaft sensor for the 2002-2005 Altima has yet to be recalled. The chance of the part being deficient is abnormally high. The part is incapable of performing it purpose, because once repaired it continuously has to be replaced. Nissan does state that this is a deficient part and there is a service bulletin on it. But a service bulletin does not do anyone any justice when the sensors have to be replaced once a year!!.

Vehicle stalled while driving in heavy traffic while on my way home. After several minutes, vehicle started and I was able to drive home. Sel came on and error code said "crankshaft position sensor". Took it to my local garage and was told this was a very common problem on Nissan Altima. Contacted dealership and was told there was no issue with this car or sensor but they could reprogram the ecm to fix it. Went online and I see numerious issues with this sensor. Nissan mecahnic admitted the sensor was faulty and that the replacement part was redesigned to to correct the error and includes a cam shaft position sensor as well since they go out frequently as well. If Nissan is aware of issue and has redesigned the replacement part, why no recall. I am out $150 whicih is no big deal, but a vehicle stalling on a highway when Nissan knows the part is faulty is extremely concerning to me.
I have a 2005 Altima se-r 3. 5 v6 I was leaving a mcdonald's parking lot and as soon as I put the car in reverse there was a hard jerk and the transmission did not engage properly. The car reversed after a couple seconds and when I put it in drive a hard jerk and the car was in 5th gear. No other gears were available. I parked the car and shut if off. . . After a few seconds I started it back up and threw it in reverse and got the same result, I put it in drive then tiptronic and saw a 5 (5th gear). I called a couple friends and mechanics they said it a fail safe. So I waited again and tried to restart the car and it took a good 10-15 seconds to crank and after I reversed the car would die. I was only trying to get home (1 mike down the road) because I did not trust this car to bring me anywhere at this point. After a couple start then shut downs and letting the car sit for a few I was able to get the car running and driving in all the gears. I got on the boulevard and I was going about 20-30 and the car dies on me. Luckily it was the middle of the night and the was no traffic. I restart the car and its running in 5th gear for about 10-15 seconds and then I see my rpms going up as speed going down. The transmission was not engaging and I knew something was definitely wrong at this point. I pull to the side and pop the hood, the was so much heat but the car was not overheating. I call my mechanic and he says let it sit a bit. 20 minutes later, car cooled down a bit and a reliable friend and mechanic come help me push the car into a parking lot. We later find out the transmission failed. Fluid was still red, not burned but something else was going on inside. $2000+ later and a replacement tranny the car is up but still dying at random times, won't start. Diagnosis crank and camshaft sensors. The transmission also goes straight to 5th gear and car stalls in traffic.
Car began to idle roughly and was hard to start. Replaced oxygen sensors which did not cure symptoms. Was told that the 2 pre-cats (catalytic converters) needed replaced. Motor mounts also recommended. Replaced and problem persisted. Hard to start, runs rough now shutting down while driving. Ran codes myself with obd-ii tool and found crankshaft and camshaft position sensors to be faulty. I heard of a recall for this very issue; even described my symptoms exactly. Even though my year model and car was recalled the Nissan of fort worth service desk told me my VIN # was not covered. My car has the exact same engine as all of the other Nissans made in this year range and the same faulty crankshaft and camshaft sensors but for some unknown reason mine are not covered by this. How is this even possible. I have replaced a lot of pricey parts all which may have been avoided by replacing the sensors. Even if I had to pay for the crank and camshaft sensors it would not have been bad if I had not paid over $3000 in repairs to other stuff that may not have needed replacing.
Vehicle would turn over but would not start. This has happened twice. Once at around 60,000 miles and the next time at 64,000 miles. Both times it ended up being the camshaft sensor. Both camshaft sensors were replaced as recommended by the shop.
Nissan Altima 2002 keeps having problem with the crankshaft and camshaft sensors and once you replace them a couple months later you'll have the same problem. This problem causes your car to stop randomly in the middle of traffic which could cause you to get into a car accident or worse death. Nissan knows that this is a common issue but they choose to ignore the problem. I have spoken with many dealers and auto repair technicians and they all agree this is a common problem with Nissan Altima. This is sad and I really wish this issue is resolved for the saftey of everyone driving. I was driving in my car with my niece when my car just stopped in the middle of traffic scared me to death!!! because we could have been really hurt and the simple fact that I replaced this part 3 months before this occured is really terrible. I have replaced both sensor and I'm still having an isssue. This is something that Nissan needs to correct before someone really gets hurts. The 2002 Nissan Altima is a horrible car its just manufactured all wrong and is constantly giving me issues.

My 04 Nissan Altima v6 one day began to buck while on the highway. I made it home, then when I went to start it wouldn't. Basically ever since that day it's been an on going problem w/ not starting, shutting off unexpectedly while driving and completely locking up making it very difficult to pull over and dangerous. At one point it would not accelerate. I am the mother of an infant so until I find a resolution I need to borrow cars to travel with him. I have replaced the camshaft sensor and the throttle position sensor which were the codes that came up and still I cannot drive my car. I then researched my make/model/year and found I was not alone. Many others have encountered the same issues and have yet to reach a resolution and apparently Nissan is not declaring a recall on 2004's but have on "02" and "03" which had the same exact issues. I do not want to continue to buy parts and try to fix something that is defective as I read many others have done. I plan on contacting the bbb and taking it from there because I don't know what to do. So here I am making payments on a vehicle that is extremely unsafe for my child and I and no answers on why these cars are malfunctioning and continuing to read camshaft. . . Etc even after being replaced???? please help.
Car shut off while driving. Car also doesn't start up right away. Tried to bring it to Nissan but they said my VIN# wasn't included in the well known recall (camshaft sensor). Bs if you ask me! they're going to put peoples lives at risk. So I went to advanced auto parts store and got the code read and it was a p-03040 which was a camshaft position sensor malfunction. I googled a bit and found out there's plenty of people out there with this problem. I even called Nissan and they didn't want to do nothing about it. Outrageous diagnostic fee also. $105 just to plug in a obd reader. You can buy your own obd reader for that price. Or just go to your local auto store and get it checked for free!!! not happy. Nissan also sounded like they didn't want to deal with me since I don't bring my car to Nissan for oil changes/repairs.
We have a 2003 Nissan Altima. The service engine light came on one day and then it went off. A few weeks later the light came on again and we had it diagnosed and the code indicated it was electrical, battery, or crank shaft sensor. Same day we got it diagnosed we went to start the car in the parking lot the car wouldn't start. We called aaa to have car towed. While waiting for tow truck we tried to start the vehicle and it started. We started driving car to get it to be repaired and while driving the car the car stopped running and my daughter had no control of the car. The steering wheel locked and everything. She pulled into someone's driveway. We called and had car towed to local repair facility. I checked the internet to see if there was any recalls and it indicated there was a recall on the crank shaft sensor. I called the Nissan dealership in salem, nh and spoke to a gentleman in service and explained about the recall. He asked for the VIN number and said there was no recalls. I disputed it with him and he said there was nothing he could do and that it would cost approx $100 dollars to diagnose and approx $125. 00 per hour to replace plus parts. I then call Nissan consumer service and they also said there was no recall on my vehicle. I again disputed again they said there is nothing they can do about the problem. I then had the car repaired at a local repair shop and they had to replace the crank position sensor (the recalled part). We picked up the car drove down the street and the check engine light came on again. Brought the car back to repair shop and they had to replace the cam shaft sensor. I called Nissan customer relations again about the recall and they stated there is still no recall for the sensor on my VIN. She said that she could help us by refunding the repair costs. She asked where I had it repaired and I told her at a local repair center. She said I cant help you because I didn't get it repaired at a Nissan dealership. They should of told me this.
Cam shaft sensor failure. Similar in function to the recalled crankshaft senor, the cam shaft part can stall a car, or prevent from restarting due to overheating. It also is vital to engine timing and other items which pertain to engine performance. Sept 12, 2011 67000 miles replaced this the second time in under 3 years part needed to be replaced. Why is this not a recall like it's crankshaft counterpart.
2004 Nissan Altima engine shuts down while on the run due to faulty crank position sensor and cam shaft sensor. I fixed crank sensor 2 years back after a death incident on the highway and it happened again last month. This time its the sensor next to the other. The cam sensor. According to the dealer this is a common problem in 2002 to 2008 Altimas and sentras. And Nissan continue to make faulty cheap sensors to put thousands of people at risk and not even cared about having a recall.
2003 Nissan Altima stalled and would not start in traffic at 40mph. Would not start for approximately 15-20 minutes. Situation was dangerous but no one hit us. Computer codes say crank position sensor and camshaft position sensor. If codes are cleared (and after vehicle cools) they reappear immediately at the stall point. Time to stall varies apparently with heat. 2003 Nissans are under voluntary recall for this problem. Nissan says this vehicle is not covered by the recall. It seems to me that it should be. This is identical to the problem described in the recall.
2003 Nissan Altima dies while driving down the roa could very well cause accidents and was very dangerous. Have replaced cam shaft sensor, crank sensor, and it still was having problems. We left the dealer after getting it fixed and it died on the way home going 60 miles an hour!.
