1 Software problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

Complaint: no warning lights came on during transmission failure. 2013 Nissan Altima bought new experienced malfunction on Nov 10, 2017 while stopped at intersection in downtown baltimore traffic. Prior to and during malfunction no indicators on dashboard lit up to alert us to any problem. After car was towed to nearby Nissan dealership, dealership determined transmission would need to be replaced. However dealership's service dept could not explain why the transmission failure did not trigger any warning lights. The day before the malfunction, Nov 9th, Nissan of richmond had performed the 48 months scheduled maintenance during which they also did a pc490 recall, referring to it as an altima cvt software diagnostic update and describing it as a software update for the transmission allowing their computer to interact better with the transmission computer. Conditions: night time, below freezing (mid 20s), had just taken off-ramp to downtown after 3 hours of interstate driving averaging 65-70 mph on interstate and 25-30 mph downtown. While approaching intersection, car bucked, then stalled and gas pedal failed to work. Turned car off and back on. Car limped another 3 or 4 blocks, then stopped completely and had to be towed. History: Altima bought new, all vehicle maintenance was performed at recommended times/intervals with Nissan service dept, warning light malfunction and transmission replacement occurred at 39,848 miles.

2 Software problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

After taking in my Altima 2014 sv for a recall on the airbag sensors, the issue did not go away. The issue is that there is that about half the times a passenger sits next to the driver seat, the airbag system does not detect them. I am having to restart the car for security purposes in case something ends up happening. I am also having an issue with my ac system. I replaced the compressor a year ago and it seems to be failing again. As a senior software engineer I can safely say that there is defnitely an issue with their software. I hope they can fix this soon. Thanks, alejandro silveyra.

3 Software problem of the 2002 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

I have recently discovered that there was a recall on my Nissan Altima 2002 model. I have tried to contact the dealer locally but no results. I also contacted the manufacturer and they gave me run around saying that they needed the software which they will make it available and soon as it's available they will contact me. I have contacted them several times but I get the same run around. It's been over a year and half since I had contacted them. But it hasn't been fixed.

4 Software problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

The pass. Side air bag off light do not all ways turn off when someone is setting in pass. Seat. Nissan last year had a recall for this problem, they reloaded the OCS software for this problem. I have had 3 problem so far sense the recall. Most of the time there is no one but me in the car so I do not have a idea of how often it could had fail if someone was in the pass. Seat with every trip. I have only taken the car once to the dealer for this problem because the first time I did not think anything about it. The second time I took it to the dealer and after checking it out, they told me that there was noting they could or would do because they had no failure and that Nissan will not let them replace any parts unless there is a failure as Nissan will not pay for the item. Open ref. # 19611123 with Nissan and was told about the same thin, except Nissan said that it was the dealer call but they would not pay for no failure part replacement. I believe is a safety problem and someone with power should look into it, do to the fact there have already been a recall for this problem. No one I talk to at the dealer or on the phone to Nissan would or could do anything about it. The internet has many write up about this problem that no one will do anything about. I guess they are waiting for someone to be badly injured or killed to take the problem serious.

5 Software problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/14/2014

I have number of problems with my vehicle - 2014 Altima sl. Several times after stop and go traffic the transmition stopes switching gears (speeds). It gets stuck on a first gear equivalent in cvt transmition. The fix is to restart the vehicle, abviously this could be dangerous on the road where there are no places to stop. Another major problem is a head unit (navigation, radio, etc). It restarts by itself now and than, sometimes right in a middle of the highway when I'm trying to figure out what exit to take and I need the gps guidence. Its absolutely unrelable. I'm not complaining about the quality of the software here that is terrible, by the way, but in any situation it should not restart by itself! another problem, as mentioned by others, is mileage. I get much less miles as advertised! this is my first and last Nissan!.

6 Software problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

My Altima failed to respond to the start button and exhibited all alarms lit on the dashboard (including erroneous indications of open doors. ) aaa service was forbidden by aaa to provide any service beyond battery and towing. After being towed to a tire shop, I begged the mechanics to detach the ground wire in order to reboot the computer. This worked! an internet search revealed that this condition and fix was identical to ones described in service bulletin ntb12-041. My complaint is against the dealership (Nissan bridgewater NJ) who failed to apply this software patch when it first appeared in April 2012 despite many returns I made to them for routine warranty service. The occurrence of this failure and citation of the service bulletin has been reported by several users in Nissan user forums. This implies that other dealers are similarly negligent in keeping cars current with service bulletins applicable to their vehicle.

7 Software problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/26/2014

The front passenger air bag lite stays on while the passenger is seated. Indicating the air bag is in-operative. The dealer performed updates, both software and hardware. The problem was never fixed ! after demanding a factory engineer to inspect the car, the result was: some of these cars , this failure will happen, and there is nothing that can be done" his recommendation was , drive to the side of the road, turn off the car and re-start the car and the "computer" will be reset ! now in excess of 4500 miles, it still fails !.

8 Software problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

I have had many issues while driving on a street, highway, and at a stop. All the issues seems to point to either software or electrical issues. I have complained to the dealership on many occasions. I bought my car with only approx. 7-10 miles on it in Jan. 2014. Since the beginning, I have had my entire dashboard shut off w/o warning. Navigation, radio, camera, etc. Completely shuts off, air bags lights turning off and on, the air conditioner intermittingly working whenever it chooses, the cigarette lighters (both) that I use to charge my phone no longer works, and acceleration not accelerating properly (transmission issue?). I have not ever had so many car problems, especially with a new car. When I ask the dealership about recalls, they are only concerned with repair costs they want to collect, in which I understand. However, what I do not understand is looking up the issue online and seeing hundreds of the same complaints. Just with the same air conditioner issue alone, on only one site, there were almost 600 customer complaints. I was astounded. I can't believe there are not more recalls with what I have read. Besides serious bodily injuries or death, do Nissan owners need to get the media involved to get something done. Locally, there is a tv station that dedicates a segment to consumer reviews and complaints. It's certainly a consideration at this point.

9 Software problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Altima. After the brake pedal was depressed and the push start was pressed, the brakes seized and there was no engine power. All the warning indicators illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that a software update was needed. The software was updated, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was brought back to the dealer on two separate occasions when the failure recurred; however, the technicians could not duplicate the issue. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 35,998.

11 Software problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/02/2013

The car has left me stranded over 20 times this past year from not starting ( I've only had the car a year). All the lights will come on but when I push the start button it won't do anything. It will jump off and might run for weeks but all of a sudden it will fail me again. I have took it to the dealership a couple of times(while it was under warranty) and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I have also took it to autozone several times (after warranty expired) to find out there wasn't a battery issue. I researched online to find many many many complaints about others doing the same thing with most of them saying its a software problem. I feel this should have been taken care of while the car was still under the factory warranty.

12 Software problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/14/2012

The "passenger airbag not on" light has been intermittently flashing. It now remains lit (passenger airbag off) when the seat is unoccupied and when a full grown adult sits in the passenger seat. In November of 2012, the airbag light began to flash on the dashboard panel. I took my car into a Nissan dealership for repair after reading about campaign 08v521000. After diagnostics were ran by the technician, it was found that the srs system was off, the occupant sensory unit failed (dtc code b1018), and a new seat cushion assembly is needed to repair the malfunction. Nissan was contacted about the malfunction and denied covering the repair under the recall since my VIN didn't fall under the recall, even though the conditions for repair fit the description. The vehicle was not repaired. I want Nissan to repair this malfunction so that I, and my passengers, can feel safe in my car.

13 Software problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/15/2009

My 2009 Nissan Altima coupe passenger side air bag will go off and on when an adult is sitting in the seat. This has been an intermittent problem. I have had it in to the Nissan dealer to fix the problem on two different occasions and both times they tell me there is nothing wrong. (it has always done this - every time a passenger is in my vehicle) my research indicates the 2007/2008 coupes were recalled for what appears to be same issue (08v521000). I can't get the dealer to fix the problem. I don't want to die in the crash or someone else to die in a crash because the airbag didn't inflate. Help! updated ivoq 05/25/11.
