In less than three years and just over 36,000 miles we have serviced the transmission 3-4 times (I've lost count), had it brought in for brake noise (screeching) at least 4 times, and just this week the bearings in both rear wheels had to be replaced. The brakes screech is ear splitting. They reconditioned the surface of the rotors, re-shimmed the pads and replaced the pads 9 months ago. I warned them then that I knew this was only a temporary fix and that I was concerned that they would get noisy again once the warranty expires and that is exactly what has happened. A few months before that they shimmed the pads which made it better temporarily. I told them shims were a band aid for a design flaw and that it wouldn't last. Several weeks later it was back in the shop. The tranny has the shakes. It has been reprogrammed, the alternator was replaced because supposedly the voltage variation was affecting the timing of the tranny, and most recently a vale body was replaced. The oscillation problem is better for now but my wife had it buck again last week just not as bad. It's just a matter of time on this too. Their competitors do not have this problem. I am highly concerned that I have more bearing issues in the future. Two out of two bearing sets failing (the fronts bearings are different) is a 100% failure rate in less than 36k. All three problems (brakes, transmission and bearings) are known issues in this year, google it.

I agree with others about Nissan needing to repurchase/compensate for all the issues. This vehicle feels very unsafe and they just push it all off. The power steering makes varying loud, annoying, distracting, whining noises the entire time you drive it. The car hesitates and jerks while driving or trying to drive from a stop which feels very unsafe and makes me worry about being hit. There are so many problems that are unsafe with the 2015 Altima and Nissan refuses to admit them and constantly says "everything is normal" or 'its the way that transmission works". A huge waste of time and energy trying to deal with Nissan. They also kept insisting to me that the airbag light coming on while a grown adult was seated was "normal" as well until all of a sudden there was a recall. . . Just to show how they lie and cover everything up . I bought this car brand new in December 2015 and have had these issues since. Have been to dealership many times for the issues as well as having a Nissan tech come to assess but of course everyone sticks together and states it "all normal". There are also problems that are not safety issues but value issues such as the xm service that is horrible but you pay for and the cheap build of the vehicle/paint.

As I was driving home on the interstate my 2008 Nissan Altima transmission made a loud noise and lost drive, I had to swerve to avoid getting run over by a 18 wheeler . I just made to the right shoulder . I was right next to an exit, the motor would rev but the car would not go more the 5 mph. Nissan says my car is not covered under warranty I had to pay 3000. 00 to have the transmission replaced.

Cvt transmission was built poorly, the transmission is slowly destroying itself causing a loss of power, high pitched whining noise and eventually fail. The date I selected for when it happened is the date I noticed the issue on my vehicle.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, there was a noise coming from the front driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000. The VIN was unavailable. Djr.

The issue first started two (2) months after I purchased the vehicle, making a shutter/power surge feeling under acceleration. The brakes also shuttered, the backup camera went in and out, there were numerous recalls for the vehicle as well. I brought it to the dealership and they "fixed" all of the issues with some software updates, resurfaced the rotors, and also replaced the side mirrors. The transmission seemed better for a couple of months. Then the issue started again, the car would make a loud grinding noise and would shutter at lower speeds now. I brought it back and they could not replicate the issue, so I left. I brought it back a third time when it started getting worse and the entire transmission was replaced under warranty. I got the car back and now the problem is happening with the transmission. It shutters violently and happens at all speeds under acceleration. I brought it back for the fourth time and they could not "replicate" the issue and told me to monitor the issue and if it happens again to bring it back immediately and they would look at it. Today 09/16/15 it was worse than other days so I called the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do because they were too busy to see me. It still shudders/surges daily and at all speeds. It really feels like the transmission is about to let go.
I own a 2008 Nissan Altima with 125000 miles which I purchased new. I called Nissan USA to report the dashboard melting problem and also report a whining noise coming from the transmission. A case was opened and within a couple of days I was told there was nothing they could do. Nissan would have replaced the transmission if I had 120,000 miles, but when I called to report the noisy transmission my actual miles were 124400 miles. They claimed that i¿m no longer under the warranty because of the extra 4000 miles. I have owned three previous Nissan cars and so far I was very happy with the quality and reliability of the cars. It is clearly that the issues is related to the materials used and parts used in this model and year. I would like Nissan to take responsibility for the products they manufacture and sell.
I was driving on high way car suddenly started making noise and I was not able to accelerate more than 20 mph and finally it stopped middle of the high way. After visiting the service center they told me transmission is broken,I saw same posts in other blogs as well. Please take a action as soon as possible.
Bought 2014 Nissan Altima 2. 5 s brand new from dealer, same day noticed ticking/rattling sound when accelerating with slight vibration. Take car to dealer to get checked out on 05/24 and again on 05/27. Dealer confirmed the noise, service manager tells me noise come from the cvt transmission, but won't do anythng. I believe the cvt transmission is defective and should be replaced. It does not feel safe to drive with a transmission making strange sound. Nissan dealer would not do anything and said it's normal.

My cvt transmission went out with 126k miles. I was never notified of any recalls regarding the transmission and there have been a few. I started hearing the infamous "whining noise" about 6 months ago which would have been around 100k miles. Had I been notified of the recalls I would have taken the whining a little more serious and researched it. Well, too late but after the fact I found many youtube videos and hundreds of complaints from people with the exact same issue. If you hear this whining noise, it's your transmission. Nissan knows they put out a garbage transmission which is why they doubled the warranty on it to 10 years or 120k miles. Conveniently, mine did not go out until 126k. I bought this car three years ago with 17k miles. Yes, I drive a lot but it's for work and it's primarily highway mileage. I wouldn't have ever expected the transmission to go out in a car this new. I have learned my lesson. I will never buy another piece of jap crap from Nissan as I am now dumping 4k to get this repaired. I checked with Nissanusa and they denied any responsibility nor did they offer any financial assistance because I am 6k over their extended (doubled) warranty. When my car broke down I called my mechanic, who is ase certified, and super trustworthy. He came and towed it, ran diagnostics on it and determined it was the transmission. I called Nissanusa and was advised to have it towed to an authorized dealer because they would not offer assistance until an authorized dealer diagnosed it. I did just that, paid the dealer $150 to tell me what I already knew (bad transmission), only to have Nissanusa deny me assistance after the dealer confirmed it was the transmission. Then I had to pay to have it towed back to my mechanic as the dealer's quote was outrageous. I will never buy a Nissan again and I hope you won't either!.
Engine juddering that seems to be coming from engine or transmission. Significant cabin vibration and noise with slow acceleration especially in cold weather. Happens at all speeds , highway or city.
2014 Nissan Altima sl 2. 5 makes allot of noise and vibration when you accelerate to get up to a highway speed whether it is from the engine or transmission it is very loud inside the car! the steering wheel seems to have a lot of play in it at a dead stop with engine running by turning the wheel right to left! you also hear clunking noises turning it right to left! the fuel in the tank makes loud swishing noises sort as if I have a small ocean in my fuel tank!.
Cvt transmission and (un)"safe mode" this has occurred on multiple trips on the highway at speeds 60-80 mph that are usually in excess of 70 miles. The vehicles transmission will go into "safe mode". The vehicles transmission will no longer rev above 2900 rpm which inhibits the vehicles ability to maintain safe highway speeds especially if any sort of incline is introduced (it is hard to maintain a speed of 45mph and there is minimal ability to accelerate). The only remedy I have discovered is to let the vehicle cool down. After the first occurrence at ~ 40,000 miles the vehicle was taken to the dealership who stated they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle (codes or obvious defects). After the second occurrence the dealership stated that they could not find an issue, however Nissan extended the warranty out to 100,000 miles. The transmission will still go into safe mode from time to time and has additionally began making a quite obnoxiously loud whining noise (at ~ 60,000 miles, similar to when a power steering pump is a about to fail).
I have a bad rattle coming from the right side of my car along with a whine noise coming from the same area. Also have a very bad vibration/rattle in the car that seems to be from the transmission at acceleration from a start and acceleration while switching lanes on a city street. You can coast and press the gas again and then the whole car rattles. It has been in to a Nissan dealership and they said they can feel it but don't know where or what is causing it. Also headlights give very very poor visibility when driving at night and when raining at night.
I have a 2013 Nissan Altima sv with 10800 miles on it. About 5000 miles ago began to hear and feel vibration with acceleration. Noise continued to get worse. Took it to a local Nissan dealer and they said the issue was coming from the cvt transmission. They had to replace the serpentine belt and the tensioner. Vibration is currently better but concerned this is just a short term solution. I think Nissan needs to put a recall out and find a long term solution.
I bought the 2010 Nissan Altima used in April 2012. Vehicle was previously part of a fleet unit in washington DC. During my drive to work, I made a left hand turn at a low rate of speed and the vehicle acted as if the transmission was skipping. The car jerked as if I had pushed the gas too hard for the turn. I had to stop to make another left hand turn. After waiting on cars to pass, I pushed the accelerator to move out at a slow and normal rate of speed and the car lunged and jerked as if I had tried to pull out at a high rate of speed. No oncoming traffic thankfully. This vehicle has had issues moving past 20 mph since I purchased it. The car jerks as it is has a manual transmission but the care is an automatic. There is loud clicking noise that comes from under the hood that can be heard inside the vehicle. I recently had a rental car of the same make and model but different year (2012). I did not experience these problems from that car. There was a recall on a leaking break line. Nissan states they checked everything out and all looks good. I'll take the car back in along with copies of these complaints. I took at long trip that was about a 4 hr drive and did not experience what others are saying with acceleration, but may be just now getting to that point in the cars transmission issues.

The transmission in my 2009 Altima began to make a whining noise. It began to shutter and made the whole vehicle respond erratically. When stopped, the vehicle would move forward. Nissan apparently knows there is a problem and extended the transmission warranty to 120,000 miles. The problem is Nissan is replacing the faulty cvt transmission with a "new" replacement faulty transmission. There is no recall on the vehicle. After searching the internet, there are many people having problems with the transmission. There are even videos on youtube documenting problems with the 2009 Altima transmissions. Even after an initial replacement, many vehicles are needing multiple replacement transmissions. To my knowledge, no attempt has been made by Nissan to solve the problem, they just replace transmissions. A recall needs to occur, and Nissan needs to fix the problem instead of replacing it. Once again, there is no recall.

The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. The contact was driving 88 mph when the vehicle exhibited an abnormal whining noise from under the hood. The vehicle then decelerated without warning and would not accelerate past 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer performed a diagnostic that located several failures, unknown to the contact. The dealer then test drove the vehicle and was able to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer advised the dealer that the specifications for the transmission had recently changed and there was an excess of transmission fluid in the vehicle. The dealer removed one half quart of the transmission fluid, but the failure continued to recur. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 41,550 and the current mileage was 42,800.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Altima. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the transmission began to exhibit an unusual noise with extreme hesitation during acceleration. In addition, there was a significant reduction in engine power. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off and after waiting ten minutes, the vehicle resumed normally. The failure recurred eight times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer numerous times for diagnosis however, the technician was unable to detect a trouble code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.
Rented a 2009 Nissan Altima from avis los angeles airport. Less than 1000 miles on the car and the transmission had a wining noise. The vehicle would rev when excess acceleration and on a hill with oncoming traffic the vehicle went into neutral and popped out of gear. The engine would not engage with oncoming traffic.
: the contact stated the motor mounts are defective. There was a noise present in the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed the motor mounts as the source for the noise, which is a problem with the transmission gears. There has been no accidents with the vehicle and the dealer determined the part defective.

Noises from clutch, noises from transmission. Since day 1. Rough engagement of 2nd gear. Clutch makes many creaking noises, transmission whines in every gear. 2nd gear and 3rd gear grind occasionally, and 2nd gear has a very rough engagement at times. Nothing has been done to remedy the problem yet.

The contact stated the fuel system and cluster module had to be replaced with less than 800 miles on the vehicle. There was a pinging noise coming from under the mid section. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, and they stated this noise was normal. A local mechanic determined it was a broken catalytic converter. Based on complaints on a website she felt that a clamp nut may be loose. This has not been addressed by the dealership. After 90 minutes in the vehicle the contact became dizzy by what she felt may be related to the exhaust system. The transmission jerked, and hesitated in low gears. The dealership has not been able to diagnose the problem with the transmission. The front windshield defroster partially defrosts the driver's side, but did not work at on the passenger's side. The vehicle has not been seen by the dealership for the defroster.
Had the vehicle 3 months and transmission replaced. Noticed when driving the vehicle it accelerated, then when letting off the accelerator was pulling back like a rubber band effect. Currently, that the transmission been replaced when making a right turn it makes a clanking noise . Also, can feel every bump in the road.
I rented vehicle for the weekend and used it for 1 day. I drove it down state to champaign 250 miles and made a stop. When I got back in the car and started it up, it hesitated to change gears but did, so I turned and drove the car home to chicago. The weather temperature was very fridget outside . When I got to
chicago the vehicle stopped I could start it up but it would go into gear. The engine sounded very fine there was nothing else noticeable, no loud noises in the car. I called enterprise aaa towed the car to the enterprise rental place. I rented a smoke color vehicle. My insurance company said that he is charging me $5,000. 00 for a brand new transmission for a 2005 Nissan and for a serpentine belt and a oil change . The vehicle has already been repaired. I have not been given any information on anything or its whereabouts.
