Car is not shifting properly by itself when accelerating get stuck in the first gear. Also periodically the pedal has a three second delay when pressing on it to accelerate this happens almost daily. The only remedy that fixes it is to shut the car off and restart it. This happens when the car is stopped as far as the pedal goes. The acceleration where it does not shift can happen at any time but at least happens 2 to 3 times a week does it matter if I'm on the highway or on a regular road.
While driving on the highway, during the morning, my car activated the brakes on its own, this is the second time this happens the first time I took it to the dealer and asked for the sensors to be removed, and kept it for a whole day and apparently nothing was done, secondly the (front radar obstruction) is becoming annoying. Another of the issues I encountered with this my Altima is the shifting, from 2nd to 3rd gear it feels as if the gears were stuck, also took it in the dealer and they said this could not be true because my Altima doesn't have a regular transmission it has a band, so I responded, you know more than me, just please make a note of my issue and I don't want to be stuck with a lemon, I am sure I'm not the only one that has encountered these issues.

Gear gets stuck too often to move. Cheap parts and is risky like on a parking stop trying to stop and your gear wont budge. My 2013 Altima transmission has always been vibrating too heavily, between 1500-2500 rpm in cold and exteremely hot weather situations, ever since I bought this vehicle (since Feb, 2014). Now the transmission completely failed and they are asking 4k to replace it.

I have a automatic 2012 Nissan Altima w. 130k miles. While driving, my car automatically shifted to neutral and in order for me to stop, I had to place my emergency brakes on. The gear was stuck in between neutral and reverse and unable to move. Thought it was a shifter console, but turns out it was my transmission. In this model car, there is a class action law suit against Nissan for failing cvt transmissions/engines. My failure happened while driving and could have caused a major accident. Due to the miles, I am out of warranty and I do believe that Nissan should be at fault seeing that there is a suit pending.

When I step on gas pedal the car has no power, seems like it is stuck in low gear, sometimes when driving on highway and I attempt to accelerate the car stalls. Very dangerous, only works correctly after the car is stopped and engine turned off. Approx 77,000 miles. . .

My vehicle has 65k miles and has began to have sticking gears. The problem is is that after starting the car the gear will not move when pressing the breaks and lock release button. The problem occurs 7/10 times. This is a wide spread problem after 50k miles but Nissan refuses to recall the 2013 Nissan Altima models. The gear also gets stuck in drive when to where I can't move it to other gears when the car is in drive. This recently happened while at the car was and I was trying to switch to neutral.
My gear shift is stuck in park.
Gear shift is stuck in park. Using a pencil to push the shift release button is the only way to shift it into gear. Local mechanic noted that this is a common issue with Nissan Altimas.
When driving the car the gear gets stuck and you have to allow it time to catch up with the accelerator so you can take off if your sitting at a light or trying to accelerate speed when driving. It also jerks at times when driving on the highway.

My gear shift is stuck. Each time I want to drive, I have to use my key to push in the manual override for the gear shift. Not safe.
I was driving on cruise control at 70 mph. The car bucked, but kept going. I exited the highway a few miles later and came to a complete stop. With cruise control now off, I attempted to proceed as normal, and the car lagged in power. I almost got broad sided as the car didn't go as normal. I pulled out with a right on red. The car was stuck in 5th gear.
I need a new transmission at 126,000 miles! car began making noise as if it was stuck in a gear, it became sluggish as I was trying to accelerate, the car would not accelerate. Drove it to sheehy Nissan a few days later and was told that I would have to call consumer affairs because I was outside the extended warranty of 120,000. My mileage was 126,000. Received call from sheehy service specialist leo saying that it would be fixed free of charge. The next day received another call from service specialist and was told that it was not approved by consumer affairs for repair. I called consumer affairs and was told that I would receive a call on Friday, sept. 18 from Nissan's regional specialist, quinashay, that more information was being gathered from sheehy Nissan. Received call from quinashay saying that there was nothing nisan could do for me because I was outside the extended warranty period! this is my third Nissan purchase from Nissan stanza to a couple of Nissan Altimas, always upgrading. I've been a loyal Nissan customer and for what! never thought I would be treated this way.

My wife was driving the car at 25 mph and the car lost all speed as if the brakes were implied and almost caused a three car pile up. Now the car is stuck in 5th gear. I am really worried because my 2 year old daughter was in the car at the time. I have done research online and this is a major problem.

The transmission is stuck in 5th gear, even if you try to downshift it manually it wouldn't come out of 5th gear.
Car is getting stuck in 5th gear which causes stall outs while driving and no acceleration-only 102,000 miles-hesitates, jerks and stalls out radomly.
I note some Nissan Altimas havr recalls on camsensor and speedsensonsor. This vehicle has same problems. Vehicle shuts off on the road cam sensor was changed but was good for a couple years does the same mechanic says faulty plastic clip. Also vehicle gets stuck in low gear while driving and the car will have to be pulled iver restarted to get it to reset otherwise car will run in low gear at high rpms. . I noticed recalls on the Nissan Altima for for these sensors. However not this model according to the dealer.

On June 26th,we left the houston area on an out of town trip. At the halfway point we exited 1-10 at schulenberg texas after driving for approx. 100 miles. After coming to a stop at a major intersection, I tried to accelerate at a normal rate and discovered that the vehicle was not responding and didn't have sufficient power to safely move thru the intersection. I further depressed the accelerator and could hear the engine reving but felt little movement from the vehicle. It felt as if the car was stuck in high gear. We slowly gained speed and eventually moved to a parking lot where the car came to a stop;not willing to move beyond that parking space. After allowing to vhicle to cool for an hour, it accelerated 1-time at it's normal rate but soon returned to it's earlier condition. We allowed it to sit for about 4 hours and decided to give it another try. The car moved off in a normal way, we decided since it was underway and because of this safety issue, we decided to return home via all freeway, trying not to stop anywhere. On June 28,2011 we took the car to the Nissan dealer in angleton TX. The service dept. Claimed the cvt transmission had too much oil (half quart) in it from the factory which causes them to overheat which causes the condition we experienced. The dealer stated this has happened to many other Nissan Altima owners (cvt transmission). The dealer stated there is no recall. The problem gives no warning which left us pulling slowly unable to accelerate with fast moving oncoming traffic. Nissan should have notified us of this problem and done a self imposed recall. I am not convinced of Nissan's claim of "too much oil" as the cause of this problem. The car did this briefly once before while moving very slowly in a parking lot but never did it again until June 26 th 2011.

Altima 2006 w/ 3. 5l engine/ auto trans. Car was making a loud roar type noise heard at idle from inside the car for about a week and an appointment was made at the dealer to get it checked out. The night before it went in for service, the car got stuck in 5th gear while sitting at a light and stalled. Car was restarted and proceeded to stay in 5th gear. The problem went away overnight and was ok driving to the service center. We picked up the car and it was "fixed". We were told it was a bad fuel pulsar thing. The noise went away, however the stalling and gear sticking did not. The car went back in and this time they told us it was a bad camshaft positioning sensor. I explained to the service mgr that the camshaft has nothing to do with the transmission. He insisted this was the problem and the car was "fixed" once again. Guess what, the car stalled and stuck in 5th gear that evening. Back to the shop !!. . . This time on a tow truck. I told them to keep the car as long as needed until it is fixed. They tell us that the car is "fixed" once again. This time they say the entire computer is no good and needs to be replaced. I'll pick up the car on Monday. Lets see if it is "fixed" now. I guess I should be happy to not be stuck with a 2. 5l oil burner- fire trap.
I have a 2003 Nissan Altima with a manual transmission. There is a frame around the stick shift to hold down the piece of material that keeps from exposing inside the gear. The frame came unglued and got stuck inside the gear, causing my gear to lock and forcing me to suddenly stop on the freeway on 65 mph traffic. When I contacted the dealership, and I was told that my car was no longer under warranty because my car was at 37,000, and the warranty expired at 36,000 miles. I was also informed by the parts department that the problem was common on Nissan Altimas, which leads me to believe that I am not the first person that had this problem. I was lucky to have been on an empty highway and was able to get off the road and pull the frame from underneath the gear. The amount that I'm being charged for the parts & labor are not my concern at this time and are minimal, however the safety of other drivers is priceless. I personally feel that if we can avoid serious damages in the future it's very well worth a recall.
The gearshifter has been stuck at least 100 times in park. My daughter, who drives the car, has been stuck at railroad crossings, hotel entrances, and many inconvenient and sometimes dangerous locations. Once, the car got stuck in park right after taking her child to the hospital. . Fortunate timing. Each time the car has been taken in for service (jaremko Nissan, inc. , 6901 e sprague, spokane, wa 99213, 509-924-6242) my daughter is told nothing can be found. But the service personnel admit that other Nissan Altima owners have reported similar problems. "just bring in the car next time it's stuck" they say. But really, how can you drive in a car that's stuck in park. I just want the problem fixed or receive allowed reimbursement for or replacement of the vehicle.
