Was driving on a smooth road when suddenly airbag light on dash came on flashing. All the steering wheel buttons are working. Brought car to mechanic's shop to scan obd2, no dtc codes. Mechanic says they don't know what it is without a code. Nissan has been shady lately with technical service bulletins TSB instead of recalls. TSB according to Nissan hq is a repair at the discretion of the dealer meaning that they do not have to repair it even while it was under warranty. I had some piston slapping noise and burning smell coming from engine bay while under warranty the dealer mechanic said," the noise is normal that of a SUV and the burnt smell was the peanut packing oil burning off the outside of the engine". There was a TSB put out a few months later saying that Nissan acknowledged a defective short block in the engine causing abnormal wear on the piston. I brought it into the dealer and they refused to replace the short block and damaged cylinder. Nhtsa needs to up their game and force these auto companies to be accountable. Years back my first edition Honda accord v6 had failed brakes that made me have an accident totaling the car. Veered off side of highway to minimize harm to others. Three years after the accident a recall on that models brakes came up. I was never given money for the totalled car by Honda. They need to be held accountable. Please take action and force the recalls instead of waiting for more people to be injured. Just look at the complaints on this make and model, why hasn't an investigation even begun? airbag should be a top priority in recalls. Especially a blinking light with no explanation is a ticking time bomb that can set off an airbag at any given notice worst yet not deploy when there is an actual accident.

My vehicle was having intermitten bci (backup collision intervention) malfunction lights on the dash. On one occurrence it caused my vehicle to slam on the brakes suddenly at 20mph, it is definitely a safety issue. I replaced both brake switches which solved it temporarily but now it is on constantly. It has been scanned with various Nissan scan tools and no errors are found. I have read endless forum posts of Armada owners having this problem and the dealerships are giving them the run around with no clear solution.
This vehicles fuel control module has caused my children and me safety to put at risk by vehicle breaking down in the middle of traffic and not capable of starting vehicle back up. Thie has been confirmed from trusted mechanic.

I bought the car on 06/27/2024, it had 3974 miles used by the dealer, and on July 30, 024 I returned it to the dealer, it has a problem with the steering, while driving it constantly goes to the left if I increase the speed on I-20, when you shift the lever from park to drive it feels like the transmission jumps, it bumps under the car and the power on the clock screen turns off while I was driving at night. I mean, I don't feel safe driving it anymore, I asked the dealer for a change but he didn't grant my request. I need help because I left the car at the dealer and today, August 16, I still don't have a car, no one has helped me.

In June 2022, my wife and children were stranded at a state forest, with no one around to assist, due to the vehicle not starting. My wife explained the vehicle symptoms and I expected it to be a battery or key fob issue, so I left work, grabbed the spare fob and jumper cables and headed to their location. First I tried to start it with the spare fob but that did not work, so I jumped battery and the vehicle started right up. We took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership to have it looked at, thinking it was an issue with the charging system. After the dealership looked at it, they came to the conclusion that the battery was bad and also the vehicle was pulling too much power from the battery. The battery was replaced under warranty on June 10, 2022. Almost exactly 2 years later, June 13, 2024, the same incident occurred. My wife and children were stranded yet again, at a gas station. This time someone was able to assist, they jumped the battery, it started right up. I immediately contacted the same dealership, and took it there the following morning. This time the battery tested good, but said the vehicle is pulling to much power from the battery causing it to drain. They recommended having the battery saver settings changed in bcm and modify the Smart charge system. They also stated that this is becoming a known issue with this vehicle model and has been having several others in with this same issue.

When pressing button to start, car gets stuck mid turn on and shakes. Doesn’t fully turn on and continues shaking. Button stops working. After multiple presses eventually turns car back off. Sometimes happens twice in a row or will start after the shaking on off.
I have had to replace the brake switch twice in this vehicle and it is under 35k miles. Other Nissan models have had this recalled. Once it begins to fail, the car will not start because it doesn't detect the brake is depressed. It also sets off the bci malfunction warning randomly and while driving, which impacts cruise control and brake safety. I can send invoices of repairs from dealership if helpful.
The display screen only works for camera system on vehicle, unable to control radio/climate control on the touch screen. It is just a blank backlit screen unless using cameras. I have had the radio control unit reprogrammed and nothing is working. There is an electrical issue and I’m worried it will get worse.

Bci malfunction light will occasionally come on and dealer unable to explain why and when they have its led to brake swich. Twice in two years this has also led to them replacing the brake switch in under 40k miles. Now at 53 k miles brake switch is causing issues for the third time.

Although I have a brand new battery, there is a short in the system that causes it to drain entirely when turned off. At least twice a month, the battery will die because it won't hold a charge when not operating. This is especially challenging when it is very warm in the summer. Once the battery is jumped, I have to run the vehicle for 30 minutes to recharge and hope it is full. I've been told it's a known defect but not yet a recall, but I can cite many examples of how this creates a safety issue when I am unable to jump it repeatedly with my portable jumper. As it is an electrical issue, this needs to be addressed and cited as a recall to stop the insanity!.
My 2019 Nissan Armada has a recurring electrical issue that causes the battery to drain and the vehicle to not start, even though the battery tests “good. ” this problem began last year — we took the Armada to Nissan and had to pay over $200 for a new battery, which is now less than a year old. Despite this, the issue continues. Recently, autozone tested the battery again and found it only 60% charged. I took the Armada back to Nissan and paid $99 for a diagnostic test, and they quoted $725 to reset and reprogram the vehicle’s systems — just to address a problem that should not be happening on a vehicle I purchased less than two years ago. The Nissan technician even stated that many Armada owners are experiencing the same issue, yet my VIN is not included in any recall or service campaign. This is not just inconvenient — it is a serious safety risk. If my Armada dies while traveling or loses power while pulling into traffic, it puts me and my three small children in immediate danger. I believe this is a widespread defect and am asking NHTSA to investigate whether this battery drain / no-start issue should be escalated to a recall. Nissan should not be charging families hundreds of dollars to fix a known problem that is leaving people stranded in unsafe situations.
The back up camera shuts down while in reverse, disabling the view for safety. The infotainment system continually reboots itself. It cycles over & over. Research on line shows this is a problem for Nissan Armada's and Infiniti qx80 models. On February 17, 2024, the dealership stated the vehicle is out of warranty therefore the owner must replace the assembly unit for an internal fault. I contacted Nissan hq, on March 11, 2024, inquiring about the safety issue and was told that its the owner's responsibility to complete all repairs. The reverse camera is not a safety issue for Nissan to be concerned about. I conducted a VIN search for recalls. My vehicle VIN does not reflect any open recalls but there a recall campaign for the backup cameras.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the electrical system and battery/charging system of my 2020 Nissan Armada have repeatedly failed. The vehicle experiences unexplained battery drain, even after extended driving. The issue is ongoing and the vehicle is currently connected to a trickle charger in my garage to remain operational. I am willing to make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? this defect has caused my vehicle to become inoperable without warning, leaving me stranded multiple times, including once after work at night. I now must carry a portable jump starter at all times. This is a serious safety concern, especially if the battery failure were to occur in a remote area, during extreme weather, or in an emergency situation. I can no longer rely on my vehicle to start normally. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. The issue has been confirmed and documented by arlington heights Nissan (illinois). I have had the battery replaced twice, but the issue continues. The master mechanic at the dealership even admitted he owns the same model and uses a trickle charger himself. He stated that the root cause may be the “Smart alternator” system, and the only fix they offered was to cut a wire for $300. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? yes. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Nissan dealership. It has not been reviewed by police or insurance, as the issue has not led to a collision, but remains an ongoing safety risk. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? when did they first appear? there were no warning lights or dashboard alerts before each battery failure. The issue began shortly after I took delivery of it.
The vehicle displays a bci malfunction, aeb braking warning, and traction control indicator light is on. Vehicle does not recognize that the brake pedal is being depressed when trying to start the car. Pushing the start button only cycles the ignition through the on and acc options. Rear suspension suddenly low.
Car will not start it says push brake even when brake pedal is pressed. It will not start. However, it does start with remote starter.
The contact owed a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed fire and smoke coming from the front passenger side underneath the glove compartment area. The contact stopped and parked the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed the vehicle was on fire. The fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was left on the shoulder of the road. The contact stated the local police authorities later placed a sticker on the disabled burned vehicle because it was left on the shoulder of the road and had to be removed. The contact stated that the vehicle was junked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,100.

The instrument panel fuel gauge is inaccurately displaying that the vehicle still has some fuel, typically about one quarter tank, when the fuel tank is empty. It is the same as the recall for Nissan Armada’s with other VIN numbers, however it doesn’t cover mine, despite matching the year of manufacture, description, and diagnosis of issue. I am asking that the VIN numbers be updated to include mine. Also, under the “status” panel of my electronic display, it’s shows 70-80~ miles left of driving range before running out of fuel.

It will stall out when we try to start the vehicle. The battery is still pretty new and there are no check engine lights on. It will stall 2 or 3 times but then start about 5 to 10 minutes later.
Almost new battery, it checked out okay; alternator appears to be providing proper voltage and current. Issue is excessive drain and once the temperature drops the car/SUV will not start and needs a jump start and then on all great. To me issue appears to be battery drain more then expected. We will do further diagnosis on component level and see which one is draining more than expected.
Randomly fails to start. New batteries installed and still fails to start at random times.
Bci malfunction out of nowhere on a newly dealer-purchased 2020 Nissan Armada with less than 80,000 miles, which is a known and frequent issue on Nissan Armadas. . . And causes unsafe conditions such as random braking, failure to start, rough engine, rough shifting. . . And lights up the dashboard with bci malfunction light, intelligent key warning light, vehicle dynamic control indicator light, bsi light, forward emergency braking warning light.
I am having the same issues as other recalled Armadas with the battery not charging due to Smart alternator however my vehicle was not included in the recall. I have had multiple incidents over the years where my car would not start back. Not only is it an inconvenience, but also a safety concern for my daughter and I.
My car shuts off and will not restart. The battery drains if I go for a short drive. I have taken and had it inspected by the dealership I bought it from and the Nissan dealership itself. I was told that it is showing no codes therefore they cannot address the issue. They drained and recharged my battery at the Nissan dealership, and it continues to happen. I have looked online and found many people with the same vehicle have the same issues. As for safety of the car I am not sure it poses a threat to anyone, but me walking home in this heat because my $35,000. 00 is not good. My mother who has many respiratory issues cannot be in this heat and when the car did not start she was forced to sit and wait for my husband to leave work for an hour to jump us. Many say to disconnect a wire but I was warned if I do anything, my warranty will be void. The Nissan dealership said because there is not a code for that, they cannot do anything. This happened yesterday and this is the 6th time since I got it.
Battery has been changed several times. First time we were told there was a recall on due to the brake light draining the battery. This was supposedly fixed and we were charged for a new battery. Within a year of new battery we experienced the same thing car not starting due to dead battery, we took it back to dealership and was told the battery they sold us was defective and we needed it to be replaced, battery got replaced (no charge since it was still under warranty). A year after that I’m back here in the dealership due to the same problem vehicle not starting due to a dead battery, now they are saying battery is not defective but they need to investigate further and in order to do that they charging me $160 dollars. Something is clearly defective that continues to drain the battery for no reason. It’s ridiculous having to change batteries every year and having the car not starting and having to jump start it every time you need to be somewhere. I have not have good experiences with Nissan I will not purchases another vehicle ever again from them, so people should be aware of all the problems and their failure to address them.
Tired of this !! battery keeps dying and leaving me stranded. Dealer says battery test fine . Will be fine for a couple days then for no reason hope in car and wont start. Jump start it and it goes. Many others complaining on sites Nissan Armada has a fuel efficiency alternator resistance . It will on charge battery 85% . Tired of being stranded at random places. Have replaced battery several times and this keep happening.
Middle section of instrument panel lights are out. This is making it hard to see your speed while driving at night and in turn takes your eyes off the road for longer. Service center couldn't believe that a led instrument panel would go out so soon. Additionally, something drains the battery if the car sits for more than a day. Several times I have not been able to start the car both at home and away. Battery has been replaced 3 times in the last year and a half. Last battery pulled was tested as still good by the service center. There were no warning lights or messages for these issues.
Our Armada started having trouble starting a few months ago. A new battery from Nissan was installed 7 months ago. We have been stranded twice do the car failing to start. Portable jump starters of any size have not been able to assist the car in starting. Only jumper cables to another vehicle have allowed us to get the car to start. Some starts are fine, some sluggish but start and some fail to start. It appears to be totally random. My most recent incident went like this. Car had a good strong start. We drove it for 30 minutes and parked. We were out of the car for 10 minutes and car would not start upon our return. We had to wait for someone to come give us a jump start. We have taken the car to two different Nissan service centers. The first told us there was evidence of a problem but nothing they could identify and to just keep driving it. Problems persisted. We then took it to a second Nissan service center. They told us nothing was wrong but possibly a loose battery connection. While at the service center, another Armada was there for the same symptoms. Are problems continue to persist. We spoke with some friends that own a 2019 Armada across the country and it has the same problem. They reported their Nissan dealer was very ellusive as to what is going on. I feel like Nissan knows there is a problem but doesn't want to do anything about it because of the cost to their business. If these failures occur during extreme cold or hot weather, or in isolated places, it could cause bodily harm or even death. I had a problem with Mazda similar to this previously where they knew there was a problem but refused to do anything about it. My friend was a service manager with Mazda at the time and showed me an internal memo on the subject but said I couldn't have a copy. He was afraid for his job. I'll ask our friends to enter a complaint also so you hear it from more than one person.
Car solely runs on battery, and has no way to determan true state of how far battery is charge , reg car batterys are made to start run car and be charge not run on . So in 3 years battery will fail, now nissian will tell you put agm battery in car to solve probem, car was never built to support a agm battery , charing specks of car and rechargine specks of battery not compatable, but with 2019 recall wich my car was not part of but was built in 2019 , and has same computer, probem was never fix, they recoded the computer so this probem gose away for year or two then battery has be replace at 600. 00 each unless u recharge it every two weeks manualy, the aulternaor stay off doing driveing, or if driven less 8 miles, if battery failes there no way control car as how ault works nissian cant tell no one it will run car, and it wont, I had car running in driveway unplug neg wire wile running car shut down, this now becomes huge consern , the ault needs be incress to 250 amps and wireing harness must be incress ends soder to conetions, agm battery must be put in it must be 25% bigger then one is being put in car, new computer code so battery be charge at 13. 5 volts, the recall was never done was cover up, they new they buy time by useing a agm battery but some point will fail, as chargeing system is not made to charge on such a battery, the smartchageing system is compeat fauler and must be removed, if car will not run when a battery is disconneted there is huge probem with in that car, and wont go away with reprograming, the hole elec sysem has be change, it will not work as it is, this per nissian engerner, it can not work, but they had no options at all to cover this up they charge each person 600. 00 and said had nothing do with recall , and they told dealer ship not to documnet battery probems this is bigger probem that the probems are not being documented.
Multiple times while operating vehicle, vehicle quit running both while idling at a light and while driving down the road at speed. Collision narrowly avoided several times as I tried to steer the car with no power steering or power braking. Unknown if brake lights continued to work. All electrical systems quit, affecting steering, braking and engine power. Engine subsequently restarted, sometimes with difficulty. Dealer unable to diagnose or repair problem. Vehicle is available for inspection. Multiple codes displayed afterwards on code reader. Check engine light stays on. Check engine light reappears after erased by dealer.
Bci (back-up collision intervention) malfunction. It's random when this comes up on the dashboard warning lights. It lights up several other things as well. It doesn't allow you to use the cruise control, or the 4-wheel drive. It disables the abs and traction control. I don't know how this is not a recall, because I see several forums talking about this issue for this vehicle specifically in this year. We took it to the dealership, and they brushed it off, and claimed they didn't know how to fix it. It has caused multiple problems and has put my family at harms risk due to it disabling the safety features.
Car is has been having bci malfunction warning come up. This has happened numerous times since purchasing. It has been taken to the dealership multiple times for this issue. They have replaced brake switch sensors and even the battery and calibrated everything and the problem continues to persist. This has left us stranded on the side the road with the car not starting. It has caused sudden braking while driving on interstate with no warning and nothing to cause this reaction… two Nissan dealerships that have looked it it play it off as nothing meanwhile I keep reading of more people having similar issues with this vehicle. This needs to be further investigated before someone is out in a deadly situation.
Fall 2020, I began having intermittent, no start issues with my 2018 Nissan Armada. It was sporadic. When the start button is pressed, it would do nothing, turnover slowly, or not turnover at all but make clicking noises. It always eventually started, sometimes within minutes, other times up to a couple hours. December 2020 - I thought the battery might be bad, so I had it replaced at walmart 12/7/20. March 2021 - the problem continued so I researched online and found that this is a common problem for 2018 Armada’s. Posts on clubarmad. Com stated the problem could be a bad brake switch. I purchased a new switch from pat peck Nissan mobile and replaced it myself. Unfortunately, the issue continued intermittently. December 2021 – I took the vehicle to matt bowers Nissan eastern shore. Diagnostic testing was done that found a low voltage code. The battery was reconditioned for $145. They also performed an ecm software update that was covered under warranty. They felt like this should fix the issue. This did not correct the problem and it became more frequent. February 2022 – I took the vehicle back to matt bowers Nissan eastern shore. Their conclusion was now the battery was causing the issue. They stated it was discharged and recommended a replacement even though the battery was only 15 months old. They installed a new battery for $244. 98. This did not correct the problem. May 2022 - I took the vehicle back to matt bowers Nissan eastern shore. Their conclusion this time was it was a bad stop lamp switch, the same part that I replaced December 2020. They replaced the switch which was covered under warranty. This did not correct the problem. January 2023 - I took the vehicle back to matt bowers Nissan eastern shore. They could not replicate the issue but stated they believe it is the starter and this time recommended replacing the starter for $1124. 84 plus tax. This problem has been ongoing for two and a half years with no resolution.
Despite two new batteries, within 10 months, I have been stranded several times when the car would not start. I checked with my local mechanic and the alternator is working correctly, but apparently there is a sensor that only works the alternator when doing non-city driving. I checked with Nissan today and even though this is clearly a defect, they charge $400 to disable the faulty sensor and do not consider it a design flaw.
