Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Frontier based on all problems reported for the Frontier.
The fuel gauge on my 2005 Nissan Frontier is erratic and not correct. I have a service engine soon light on now. The code is p0463 fuel level sensor. Nissan currently has a recall for 2006 Frontiers and a little research on some Nissan forums shows many 2005 models have the same problem. I don't have $600+ to fix my fuel gauge. I think Nissan should include the 2005 Frontiers in the recall. Also, Nissan service bulletin ntb07-069b includes the 2005 Frontier.

Concerning my 2005 Nissan Frontier 4x4 nismo. I noticed my dte (distance to empty) indicator not working properly. It read ---- and then 0. Shortly after the check engine light came on. I was informed it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was not covered. I did some research online at x. Nissanhelp. Com and other sites. After searching, I came across many others who have experienced the exact same problem. Apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. A similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a safety recall was made by Nissan. According to all accounts something in the fuel system is faulty and corrodes over time. Everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing in the range of 39,000 to 80,000 + miles. Since this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, Frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer. Why should customers have to wait for accidents and possible deaths? especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. Cost of repair ranges from $300-600.
Driving home from post office in August 2010 truck would not exceed 35 mph and started to shake intensely. I got it towed to the dealer who diagnosed $9500 to fix, I was over mileage by about 1500 miles so all out of pocket. I parked it immediately due to lack of funds, much due to a $565 payment for a $30k new truck for 5plus years. Nissan north America denied me any assistance, and was actually more rude than the have the least bit of empathy while I was told I did reach the top person who was the final say. Many months passed and I replaced the radiator and other things, so it appeared as I saved the trans from harm by parking it but now at 98000 miles the service engine light is on coding an at brake issue while the tranny is getting jumpy and sluggish again. Quick search returns a big expense and cross contamination most likely did occur and can end up costing me well over $40000 in the long run for a midsize truck that I have owned and took good care of since new and I cant even get rid of it now except for losing even more money. . . Very unhappy as an owner of 4 Nissans in my time I really expected a quality product, now I worry about when it could go, as I was recently laid off I don't have the money for repairs or another car.
2007 Nissan Frontier has an error code of po463, fuel sending unit sensor is likely cause. Gas gauge stuck at empty, currently under 35,000 miles.

Nissan 2006 Frontier gas gauge sticks at 1/4 full, and results in a sudden slowing when vehicle unexpectedly runs out of fuel. Nissan says only some 2006 Nissan Frontiers are covered under the current recall (10v-075) and that the recall does not apply to this vehicle. Nissan refuses to fix safety defect. This recall should be expanded to include this vehicle.

I purchased this vehicle pre-owned. Because the vehicle was sold as-is, the dealer refused to fix the gas gauge concern when I discovered it was malfunctioning. As long as I set the trip odometer when I filled up with gas & I was the only one driving the vehicle, this worked fine. However, in the past year I have been having family members drive my vehicle & they dont know or forget to set the trip odometer. Twice in the last year I had this vehicle run out of gas with me. The last time it ran out of gas on the I-10 bridge crossing the mississippi sound. Not the best place to be at night the tow truck driver who came to get me told me that Nissan had a recall notice on the Frontiers for their gas sending units. Nissan elected not to repair this concern because they stated my vehicle was out of warranty.
Nissan Frontier 2007, service bulletin notes defective fuel gauge sensor and this can give a false fuel level and cause breakdown on highway. Sb # ntb07-069b and they will not honor this as a recall need. Defective fuel gauge is a dangerous item when traveling on highways at night. Please push Nissan to recall / improve these units.
Fuel level sensor failure showing code p0463. This is very similar in nature to campaign 10v075000. Vehicle is 2006 Nissan Frontier se crew cab. Happens frequently. (2 times in the last 700 miles for me). Check engine light comes on and fuel level drops to empty. Periodically comes up part way but totally unreliable. Requires estimating fuel level by odometer reading. Could cause vehicle to run out of gas and stall in traffic, increasing the risk of crash with loss of power steering and brakes when engine stalls.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving the fuel gauge would indicate that there was. The dealer was informed about the failure and stated that the vehicle needed a new fuel sending unit. There was no warranty due to the high mileage. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 74000. The current mileage was 77800.
Fuel level sensor. Service engine soon light came on. The gas gauge stopped working and sometimes creeps up. Not sure how much gas is in the truck. Sometimes it is full and sometimes it goes to half and other times it just drops to empty.
Fuel gauge sensor problem with Nissan Frontier 2005, fuel gauge evap. Leak p0455 code. Both need to be fixed because there is a safety issue with the leak and sensor.
05 nismo Frontier, I had a ticking noise while driving. My engine light was on with a catalytic converter code, gas gage was intermittent. Took it to the dealer. Had to replace the fuel sending unit, get a new catalytic converter and have my driveline replace because it was blown. The truck had 94k when I took it in for repairs. I am currently trying to find a possible coolant leak. I can smell it but can't find where it is coming from.
Fuel gauge failure on 2006 Nissan Frontier 4door pickup truck. I called several Nissan dealerships and all of them told me it was the fuel sending unit without ever seeing the truck! after doing some online research it seems this is a common problem on this vehicle, I feel this is a safety hazard as someone could run out of fuel on a busy road and be hit from behind and or wreck trying to maneuver the vehicle from the roadway. (as almost happened to me).
Fuel gauge goes to empty after a fill-up and is erratic afterwards. Vehicle is 2007 Nissan Frontier.
Fuel gauge began reading inaccurately causing me to run out of gas in the middle of a busy road. There is already a recall for my model and year vehicle for this problem. However, the manufacturer says my VIN number is not included.
Run out of fuel two times, reason the fuel level sending unit isn't working.
I have ran out of gas in the middle of traffic on a busy highway almost causing an accident due to fuel gauge not reading fuel level. I was luck enough to be able to pull to the side of the road. This is on a Nissan 2007 Frontier se model.
Nissan fuel sending unit in 2005 Nissan Frontier is faulty.
I have a 2007 Frontier and had a problem with the fuel gauge. I filled the truck and the gas gauge went to empty. After driving for 10-15 minutes it would float up to near the full mark, but then it would drop back down to half full. This failure caused the check engine light to come on and this in turn automatically failed my emissions test.
2007 Nissan Frontier with 49k miles gas gauge not working properly on and off. Service engine soon light keeps going on and off at same time.
The gas gauge gives a false reading and is unreliable. It has been diagnosed by Nissan as a defect with the fuel level sensor. This is the exact same problem that occurs with the Nissan pathfinders. The Frontier is a pathfinder with a truck body. Yet Nissan has only recalled the pathfinders. The recall needs to be extended to cover the Frontiers as well.
The fuel level sending unit in my 2007 Nissan Frontier shorted out on June 22, 2010. I brought the vehicle to my dealer on June 24, 2010. The dealer informed me that the although Nissan has recalled this part on some vehicles, that my vehicle is not covered by the recall. This is a known defect which resulted in the recall of 2006 and 2008 models of my vehicle model as well as other models of Nissan vehicles using the same part for 2006 to 2008, inclusive (armada and titan models). I am astounded that such a recall would exclude vehicles with same part and same history of part failure. This is especially surprising since the recall was issued for other models of my year, just not my model. If the part is failing and is a enough of a safety issue to issue a recall for other models in the same year and for the same model in other years, why would it not be considered enough of a safety issue for my model year? does the NHTSA plan to initiate an investigation of why Nissan is excluding my model in the recall for the fuel level sender unit?.
The fuel gauge is erratic, reading empty when it's full and the check engine light came on. Nissan has a technical service bulletin # 07069 for a faulty fuel level sending unit.
2007 Nissan Frontier fuel sensor problem. Many reports of this online and apparently Nissan recalled the 2006 and 2008 for the same problem (code p0463).
Fuel gauge don't work on 2007 Nissan Frontier. It is the sending unit.
We own a 2005 Nissan Frontier le king cab. Our gas hand does not work and the service engine soon light is constantly on. This is our third Nissan king cab with this problem. Apparently it is not covered under warranty and is quite expensive to fix. I feel there should be a recall. If we do not get warranty help with this problem, it will be the last Nissan for us.
2007 Nissan, Frontier. . . Fuel gauge went out after 42,000 mile. . . . Why? is there any more out there.
2006 Nissan Frontier fuel sending unit quits working after approx 4 years causing incorrect fuel gauge reading and service engine light to illuminate. Dangerous as incorrect gauge reading could cause vehicle to run out of fuel.
Fuel level sensor in my 2005 Nissan Frontier is a chronic manufacturers problem that can cause the vehicle to stall unexpectedly. Several models of Nissan truck's have this problem and the operator will not know how much fuel they have.
Gasoline gauge not working properly in my 2005 Nissan Frontier truck. Every time I fuel up, the gas gauge is "stuck" at low and rises to the full mark about 3 days later and check engine light is always on because of the malfunctioning gas gauge. Nissan has offered 5yr/70,000 comprehensive warranty, but my truck is over 70k.
My Nissan Frontier fuel gauge has stopped working- I called about the recall and I was supposedly not covered but they can check it for 100 bucks up front to make sure.
I filled up my truck and the fuel gauge does not respond properly. It may tell me I have more or less gas than I actually do. I can turn the key off and recrank the engine and have a different reading. Recently it caused my service engine soon light to come on. Also if I am driving a long distant the gauge sometimes will go from empty and start going to full as I drive.
Service eng light comes on due to high fuel sensor. Also fuel gauge goes to less than e and the low fuel light comes on.
1. When I fill my ,2005 Nissan Frontier xe ,up with gas or it is to low on gas my fuel gauge will not function properly. The same problem with the 2006 model. 2. The failure is with my fuel sending unit. It occurs all the time. It prohibits me from reading my gas level. 3. Nothing has been done by Nissan to correct the problem. The part I need to fix it cannot be purchased through the dealer because they say the unit is on restriction due to the recall on the 2006 model. This same part is covered in the 2006 recall but not for the 2005 model and no one can answer why.
Fuel gauge does not accurately report fuel level. There is a recall for this year, make and model but Nissan says it only for specific VIN's and that not all are subject to the recall even though I have a faulty fuel sensor as well.
