The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floorboard, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment, after which, upon pressing the push to start button the vehicle failed to start. After several attempts, the vehicle was able to start, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.

The contact stated vehicle was on fire while parked in the driveway with the ignition turned off. He attempted to extinguish the fire with a water hose. The fire department arrived and put out the fire. The fire department determined this was an electrical fire that originated from the dashboard panel area. The vehicle sustained damage to the interior dashboard panel and front seats. The vehicle was not deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The vehicle is currently at a body shop for repairs. When driving 70 mph vehicle stalled in the middle of the highway. Consumer was able to restart vehicle. Consumer took vehicle to the dealership for inspection, and mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem. While vehicle is set on cruise control, the entire system shut down. Consumer couldn't restart the vehicle. Ignition system failed four times, and was brought to two different dealers.
