When driving down the roadway the vehicle automatically stops. I purchased the vehicle brand new this year and this instance with the braking has occurred 4 times. The abs light came on and would not go off. I've taken it to the dealer and they replaced a sensor. The abs light is now off and it has not 'phantom braked' or 'falsely activated' since but I a worried that if and when it happens again I may be in traffic and cause a collision or even worse hurt, harm, or even death to myself or other. There is 2 others in my office that have purchased 2019 rogues this year and have had the same issues. Nissan needs to remedy this situation and do so quickly.

While initiating my brakes the abs appears to be activating, and causing load noise and shaking vehicle. It almost sounds like my brakes with caliper broke and im trying to stop vehicle that way. I turn vehicle off, and it resets itself to normal. Brakes work well and I move on, a day or 2 later same thing,so every time im coming to a stop sign I start pumping the brakes and hoping they are working, vehicle now has over 100k miles, and problem been happening since about 60k . Not sure what to do. But looking at this site, seems like Nissan doesn't want to recall this part. And to top it off, now my Nissan armada abs light and brakes are acting up the same way. Coincidence or flaw parts??.
Brake "actuator" started humming or running as soon as car ('06 Nissan Maxima se) was turned on away from home. Continued to kick in abs at every brake application creating unsafe (or at least not normal) braking situations and continued to run when car was shut off. Abs light, tcs light, and slip light all activated continually. Codes c1110 & c1105 & c1106 were present after scanning at local garage. Battery drained after car shut off due to actuator continuing to run with car shut off. Per research and other TSB or Nissan-issued techincal bulletins, the rear hub abs sensor frequently malfunctions due to a design flaw in the car. If driven while malfunctioning (as in this case) the controller/actuator may malfunction. Turning off "abs" while driving seems to keep the actuator from running, but also makes driving less safe, especially in inclement weather due to turning off tcs/abs. I've had to replace this out-of-pocket (despite being an extremely common problem with this model vehicle). Sensors and actuator were replaced. Vehicle driven again. Less than 8 months later, same issues return. Nissan dealership replaced rear sensor per codes, new code for actuator shows again (after sensors placed in) and they require me to pay out of pocket again for new actuator. This is obviously a design flaw in the car (per many other reports) and should be recalled immediately for repair.

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle lunged forward while the brakes were engaged intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on three occasions, who diagnosed that there was an abs brake system failure causing transmission and engine damages. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 08/11/lj updated 08/13/2014.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. While driving approximately 65 mph, the abs warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stopped the vehicle on the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, but the dealer was made aware of the failure and advised that the failure could have been caused by corrosion of the abs sensors. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that they would not assist with the cost of the diagnostic test or the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Maxima. The contact was driving 25 mph and applied the abs when the brakes locked abnormally. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic and the technician replaced the abs sensors. The contact stated that after the repair, the brakes were no longer locking but the abs warning light would illuminate sporadically. The contact has not taken the vehicle back to the local mechanic to inspect the cause for the abs warning light being illuminated. The contact was concerned that the brakes would lock and potentially cause a crash. The failure mileage was 78,500.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. While starting the vehicle, the abs light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the light was reset but it did not turn on. The contact was informed that the sensor control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 50,000.
The abs lights keep coming on my cars 2004 Maxima and its making a loud noise off and at low speed: repair bill 2600 the deal stated I need 2 rear hub 2 rear sensor and actuator change (abs activates with normal braking / abs warning lamp is on) c1110 controller failure is the problem accord to the dealer.
My abs light came on about a year ago, I took it to the mechanic shop to have them look at it. And they told me I needed to replace the rear wheel hub and the abs sensor so I did which cost me $800 dollars. The mechanic told me they get a lot of Maxima in there shop with the same problem. He said it was a Nissan manufacturers flaw. So make the long story short after I replaced the hub and the abs sensor my abs light still stays on and now I need and abs control module which went bad because of the wheel hub getting rusty.
It started with a loud noise out of the left front wheel then the abs light came on then the back and service engine light and then the speedometer would read the speed. Then it shuts down if im at a stop light for a while or out of nowhere this is not safe!!! at all as it can cause and accident. Its has happened at turning lanes and the car behind thank god stop in time or else he would of rear ended me. Soo I took it to the dealer and said it needed a new abs pump, harness, and ipdm. I've only had this car for 9months its a 2004 Nissan Maxima with 56,000miles on it and for the price I paid this shouldn't be happening to a car that claims to be sooooo reliable. Not happy at all!!!!! now im stuck paying $2500. 00 for repair and something that I've read sooo many complaints about and Nissan just avoids it and says cant do anything since it has no warranty very disappointed!!!! angry!!! frustrated!!! and broke!!!!!.
The abs system has stopped working at only 42,000. I believe the part is defective. Now the car cannot use abs to stop which is unsafe in rain or snow. The manufacturer does not want to help pay for the repairs, although the dealer is willing to offer a discount for repair because the car has only 42,000 miles on it when the abs stopped working.
Abs light came on when I was driving to town. Brakes seemed to work ok, so I continued. Got to town (40 miles), did my business, got in the car to go home. Started car, abs light still on, drove 1 1/2 blocks, applied brakes as I approached intersection, and the pedal locked. Tapped the pedal, still locked. Car felt like it was still getting throttle. Put it in neutral, pulled the emergency brake, and luckily stopped before the intersection. Pulled into a parking lot, pushed the brake, and the same thing happened. Parked the car, and turned it off. Then, I decided to move it to another location in the parking lot and leave it for a tow truck. When moving it, I pushed the brake again, heard a noise, abs light went off, and brakes worked again. Drove home. I am going to take it to the shop soon. Could have been a serious accident.

I have a 04 Maxima-while at first I did not know what the noise was or where it was coming from. I took my car to several places for a mechanic to identify the noise. At first none of them knew what it was. Then finally one said he thought it had something to do with the abs system. But there was no light to indicate that. The noise continued and I continued to try to find out what it was. I took my car to the Nissan dealer in marlow heights and the mechanic told that the noise came from after-market pads. Even I knew that was not it. So I was told just wait and see if it gets worse. Well it has gotten worse. Then if came across a master technician who told me exactly what the problem was (the abs system) although still abs light was not on. Now the car is in the shop and of course the car warranty has expired and the extended warranty does not cover the cost (right rear abs sensor and cap) and let's hope that I don't need an actuator which cost $1,500. I'm waiting to hear from Nissan. If they don't cover the cost which I think they should (this being my fourth max) since the car is not really that old. And I also think that Nissan knows about this problem. And if they don't cover the cost this will be my last Nissan.
: the contact stated the abs light remained illuminated after the car was turned on or off. The light illuminated on and off by itself. The battery needed to be disconnected to shut the light off. Most of the times, the abs had to be completely disconnected, and the vehicle was operating without this safety feature. There were no warning signals prior to the incident. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, who determined that the entire abs system and the sensors needed to be replaced.
I have had numerous problems with my 2004 Nissan Maxima. I have had to replace tires, have had the vehicle in the shop for the check engine light coming numerous times; have paid to have the battery replaced because the car suddenly stalled; have had the catalytic converter replaced because of one of the check engine light trips to the dealer. Most recently, I replaced the front and back brakes due to what I thought was normal wear and tear. A month later, the abs brake system fails, and I am told that is not under warranty, and the charge will be $1,645. The car is only two years old. I am at the dealer at least once, sometimes twice a month. I used to be the biggest cheerleader for Nissan. I had a 1991 Nissan Maxima that I bought used with 173,000 miles on it. That car was on the road until it had more than 300,000. Now I feel like I purchased a lemon. I bought a new car because I didn't want the headaches that come along with a used car. I took my car to the dealer on September 18th because something weird going on with the brakes. I had had the brakes changed about a month before that, I knew that they were in good condition. I received a call later that day telling me that my abs brake system was bad and needed to be replaced. And that I would need to cover the cost because the part was no longer under warranty. I contact Nissan north America to lodge a complaint on September 19th to see if they would cover the cost for the abs system failing, because I don't think that I should have to cover a major repair like that on a 2 year old car. I was told that a regional specialist would call me back within 24 hours. 2 days passed without a return call. I called again on the 22, and again on the 25th with no response. L believe that Nissan is aware of all of the manufacturing defects with the Maxima and by not responding hope that consumers will go ahead and pay for the repairs over and over again because they are afraid to drive an unsafe car.
When I first bought the vehicle, the abs light was on, I was assured by they sales person that it was a "minor sensor problem" in that regards I took the vehicle. When I came back to have the light checked I learned that it was something more serious since there was no "computer code" and according to the computer the car had nothing wrong with it. Manufacturer replaced abs control unit and say car was ok. After a few days the car's front wheels starting to lock at low speeds, about 25 to 30 mph. When approaching a stop sign and applying the brakes a screech will come from the wheels, some times it will be coming from the left some times from the right side of the car. Locking of wheels was only once to three times a day. Contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they said to bring the car back. After a cople of days of contacting Nissan the abs light came on again. Once at the dealer, Nissan determined that there was no output ground to light and that no code was coming on. This happened and 1588 miles. At 2054 miles car was taken again for abs light on, once again there was no code coming from computer, in other words computer was saying nothing was wrong with car. Nissan replaced engine harness on vehicle. About 2 weeks later, after that repair, front wheels started to lock just as last time. . It will only lock for one time or two a day,, but same problem, this time abs light is not on, Nissan was contacted and say nohting is wrong with car since the light is not on. On 08-14-2002 when driving vehicle out of a parking lot, speeds of about 15mph, pressed gas pedal, car is not responding ( there seems to be no traction on wheels for about 10 senconds) then "slip" light starts flashing for about 3 seconds, after this vehicle starts getting traction again and light stops flashing. Will meet with Nissan representative on 8-15-2002.
