My brake light and battery light come on at the same time. My went dead in the middle of a turn. I replaced the battery. Had the alternator checked. Was told it was fine. After a new battery my car runs fine but loses power and hesitates like its going to stall from take off or entering a turn and my brake and battery are still coming on at the same time. I googled the issue and it appears be a long standing issue no real resolution. I took it to autozone they did diagnostic test and I got code p0011 the same one I paid to be repaired previously.

I was driving on the freeway and went to go and apply my brakes. At this time my dashboard lights lit up with an abs and brake light being illuminated. I talked to firestone and told them the issue as I was out of town. They told me to bring it in and they would run a quick diagnostic. I did and they found it to be a known issue at Nissan. I took it to the dealer as there is a TSB on the vehicle for this issue. They told me they would have to change the abs sensor and possibly the wheelhub, if all was done I would be out about $3000. I asked the dealer what issues could arise and they told me my brakes could lock up when driving. I find this to be unacceptable, especially if driving down the freeway at 70 with a big truck following. I got in touch with Nissan consumer affairs and they did some research, but came back with the would not help with any repairs. I have been following numerous complaints online about the same issue with the 2004-2006 Nissan Maxima. For some people this has gone on too long with Nissan not wanting to help out. A recall should be done before someone gets seriously hurt or killed.

Abs, slip, tcs & brake lights came on suddenly while taking off and there was excessive vibration. As a result, there was (and still is) a total loss of abs & tcs systems. . Engines revs high & surges while taking 1/4 mile to reach 40mph. Diagnostic states that there are problems with the abs actuator, speed sensors & wheel hub. &2,858. 65 to repair. Given the lack of acceleration reliability as well as the loss of braking & traction systems, this is a serious safety issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Maxima. The contact was driving 25 mph when the vehicle decreased acceleration to 20 mph without warning and despite that the accelerator pedal was being depressed. The vehicle has no power between 20-45 mph. Abs, slip, tcs off and brake lights are now on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the rr and lr abs sensor failed, hub assemblies needed to be replace and the abs actuator now needs replacement at a near total cost of $3300. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was available. The failure occurred at mileages 63,270.
While traveling approximately 40 mph, with no warning, the abs lamp, tcs light and the emergency brake lights came on and the brakes became sensitive. I took the vehicle to my mechanic who discovered that the abs actuator was defective, rendering the abs system, traction control system and the electronic brake force distribution inactive. The mechanic installed an abs motor/module per the Nissan service bulletin issued March 16, 2007 and removed both rear wheel bearings and performed an inspection and knuckle modification per the bulletin. The cost of the abs actuator alone was $1,300; 75% of the total repair bill which cost, I feel, is exorbitant and excessive. Updated ivoq 03/20/12.

I was exiting a highy on an offramp when my brake light, abs, traction control and slip light came on. I applied my brake and there was a load crunch noise and my brake pedal sunk to the floor. It took an extended period of time for the car to slow down as the brakes were grabbing and letting go continously. Luckily this occurred during mid day, as this could have caused a serious accident during rush hour as the ramp would have had backed up traffic on it. I need a abs actuator replaced at an estimated cost of $2,500. This is a known issue at Nissan as many people have complained online of the actuator failing around 40,000 miles. Some people have even turned off their anti-lock brakes due to the high cost of fixing the abs actuator.
I purchased a 2006 Nissan Maxima in February 2011. . When I purchased the car it appeared to be in good running condition. . There were a few visible problems such as the headlights, running light, power seats, or windows weren't working properly. . That problem was fixed and the owner agreed to fix the brakes and the remainder of the problems however almost a year later my anti brake light is still on & the dealership have not made any attempt to fix my car. 4months after having the car the speedometer stopped working and the odometer, the gas gauge goes back & forth, the service engine light remains on and the car jerks while driving and sometimes when shifting the car out of drive into reverse it jerks hard. I have quite a few friends who have Maxima's also and have the same problem with their cars. . It's obvious it's a defect with the transmissions, speed gauge & so many other defects with these cars. Somewhere there has to be someone who can help myself as well as others who are experiencing these problems. I have read far too many complaints about these particular cars. The cost to repair these cars are expensive & not to mention the cost to have your transmission replaced & on top of all that you are still responsible for paying your car note. Hopefully soon there will be a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance!!!.
Had my car put on a diagnostics machine to find out why my abs, slip, engine & brake light was on. After the results came back here again is there another technical bulletin put out by Nissan for my vehicle. My vehicle is making grinding sounds and triggers the abs braking system to malfunction. The brakes will suddenly pulsate when engaged. I was told this is happening because: due to corrosion entering the rear tires. I was also informed that Nissan has a known failure of the abs for this model vehicle.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph, she applied pressure to the brake pedal and the anti lock brakes engaged. The brake pedal began to pump and the vehicle exhibited an increased stopping distance. During the failure, the anti lock brake light illuminated. The failure began to recur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the anti lock speed sensors were rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately three months later, the failure began to recur and the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer where the contact was advised to replace the anti lock braking system due to excessive rust and corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the vehicle would violently jerk when downshifting and accelerating at low speeds. The failure mileage was 56,000 and the current mileage was 69,890.
My 2004 Nissan Maxima started making a grinding noise when I put on brakes with pedal & steering wheel vibrations Dec 2009, I took it to 2 different mechanic shops for the problem & was told I needed front & back brakes & rotors which I purchased costing over $700. 00 and the problem wasn't resolved, I took the car to jeffrey Nissan dealer in roseville,mi and they could not find the problem, this went on for over a month and finally the abs light & brake lights came on, I took the car back to the same Nissan dealer at which time I was informed that my abs system had went, costing me $2400. 00 dollars in repairs(in addition to the $700. 00 dollars already spent for a total of $3100. 00 dollars). I believe the abs system was defective and should have been repaired by Nissan and looking at all the other comments regarding the 2004 Nissan Maxima there should have been a recall.

I have been to the Nissan dealership 3 times in the past two weeks. I have spent over $2000 on the abs system and it is still not corrected. I replaced a rr sensor and also the abs module. Now I am going to have to replace another sensor in the lr and replace the module again. The abs light came on and also the brake light. The brake pedal jerked and I could hear a noise under the pedal that sounded like wires burning. I can not believe that I have spent $2300 and I am still having the same problem and I seems like I am going to have to spend another $2300 to have properly functioning brakes. Thanks Nissan.
Abs light came on with the brake light then vibrating noise started. Now every time that I break the car shuts off is able to start on again but about every time I break it shut off again is very dangerous and someone could get hurt. When I bought the car they told me it was a manufacture problem and it was not going to affect the car and now it is. I own the car for 10 months and the warranty expired so now im stuck paying for 3000 dollars to get it fixed when in still making payment on the car and can't even afford it.
Over the course of several months, the "slip" indicator light on my dashboard would blink as the right front wheel locked up and I would hear a grinding noise. My Nissan dealer could not duplicate this event. When this lock up would happen, the car "pulled" violently to the right and I would lose control of the car. When these events would happen my vehicle speed would be between 25 and 40 mph and on a dry road and either driving straight or around a minor curve. On sat. 5/30 while driving between 35 and 45 mph the slip light came on 3 times within 10 minutes. The first time a violent pull to the right with loss of control causing me to go onto the shoulder of the road. The second time, both front brakes engaged and the car almost came to a complete stop and the car behind me missed rear ending me by 5-6 feet. The third time both front wheels locked up pulling me to the right. No damage. There is no warning when these events happen. Sudden and shocking loss of vehicle control. The brakes lights do not come on. My Nissan dealer tells me that there have been no "codes" in the past, but on sat. The vehicle "threw" a code indicating the yaw/g force sensor had failed. As the driver of the car, you are out of control and risking your life, property, and the safety of other motorists. This dangerous condition can lead to accidents, property damage, injury and possibly death.
I've had a total failure of the vehicle dynamic control/stability control. The yaw/g force sensor failed. Prior to this being discovered by a code on the car's computer, I complained to the dealer that on dry roads, on straight always and curves at speeds between 25 and 45, the passenger front brake would engage without warning and the car would pull violently to the right. Dealer investigated and could not duplicate the experiences. On sat. 5/30 in under 10 minutes 3 times I experienced a sudden and uncontrollable application of the right front brake which pulled me off the road and onto the shoulder of the road 2 times and the application of both front brakes which caused the car to come to a sudden full stop. I was nearly rear ended by the car behind me. When this failure happens it is un announced, sudden violent and the brake lights do not come on. Nissan confirms the sensor has failed. This is a dangerous condition and can lead to accidents, property damage, injuries and possibly death.
