05/21/21--2016 Nissan Maxima with cvt tranmissions problems. No current recalls, but lots of lemon law cases from 2012-2018 with all models except the Maxima. Have 94k on it and was driving and it stopped mid street almost threw my son out the front windshield. Took it to Nissan $4800 to replace. Bought vehicle with cvt transmission being sold as "smoothness". But in reality it has been a complete nightmare that Nissan ignores on the Maximas.

Driving the vehicle gives no indication it power off car will not start up when you try half an hour later it may start may not start driving it shut off again power shortage code may not come up when it happens it don’t give any warning when you driving on the highway regular roads it just gives no warning sign it just power off completely at is not safety to drive.
When I first purchased this car I had immediate problems with the power steering fluid. The check engine light has remained on the entire time. But the car was hemorrhaging fluid, groaning, whining, and my steering was becoming extremely loose. I call the dealer that sold me the car, because I dropped 4 grand on what seemed like a nice vehicle with under 100k on it. Well, I bought the car right off the lot and they refused to repair it. Cool, I respect that. If the inspection reports and other papers are clearly falsified. It couldn't have passed inspection under normal situations. But since the dealer owns their own shop, they could slap stickers on busted vehicles and send them off to be sold. Eventually they do me " a favor" by replacing the power steering actuator/pump hoses & did work on towards a dtc code p0550. They give me that favor by charging me only for the parts, no labor. Totally cool, if work was done. It still has the same electrical tape in areas that was "fixed". They clear my codes and off I go. Engine light cuts on again and I'm having the same issues. My power steering fluid looks like it's boiling or bubbling as well. Still getting the p0550 code as my main dtc. Except now, I'm having major problems and my car has been sitting for a month. Not sure if the leaky fluid corroded components from before. As of now I'm throwing dtcs for p0171, p0305, p0550 (twice), believe I have a vacuum leak, my exhaust system is damaged internally from the misfire codes and has also broken apart near the rear muffler, among other pending codes. Lastly, I was coming home from work and my car completely loses power and bogs waaaay down. Engine light is flashing and I have no control or power. I limp home, park the car, and haven't drove it since other than for test drives. After countless repairs for the same issues, among new repairs and issues I'm broke. Issues started on 3/24 through 12/21 not had this car for a year and it's been a constant pain ever since.

My husband bought this vehicle from crown mason in tampa andbthe car started smoking in one day, we found out the engine was no good. The owner claimed that the vehicle was in good shape. Since the day we bought it we had to put a new engine in along with a tune up and a wheel alignment.

Me and my boyfriend were sold this car for 2500 and the car needed a new battery, a new converter . Once I brought those items and put them in the car started having compression problems to the point it has a slow take off , cannot go up hills , and we have to shift gears just for it to move . . This car was sold to us like this and we almost fell off a cliff because of the compression problem and not being able to go up any hills . . The people who sold us the car said they will not fix the problem or refund our money .
04v326000 one of the recall number the other is 05v512000 not sure what to do at this point I've changed my timing chain also already I also received a letter stating if I had to replace it to contact Nissan I believe I'm just getting the run around.
Car idling, jerking and hesitating at 30mph. When accelerating it does not. The car is going but from a slow speed going to a higher mph, it will stay stuck and if you floor it, it just won't move. This is dangerous. It's happened on the freeway three times. Now the brake fluid is leaking everywhere. This is a second issue. Transmission. Engine. Cvt, ecm issue and mass air flow sensor and pvc sensor must not be on correctly. I have videos. The service dept has seen them but they can't seem to duplicate the issue.
My transmission began making a winning noise, then it got louder and louder. Now my transmission is done. There have been lots of complaints about the make and model vehicle. I gave a cvt transmission. Also have issues with struts. Had noise since 2019.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph in the rain, the vehicle suddenly shut off causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a guard rail. Additionally, after the crash the 4 doors were unable to be opened from the inside or outside of the vehicle. The police and fire department were called to the scene and rescued the driver from the vehicle by breaking the window. The contact indicated that approximately 40 minutes after the crash the doors were able to be opened from the outside. No injuries were reported and no medical treatment was required. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed away. The manufacturer was notified of the vehicle. The contact indicated that the vehicle had randomly shut off while driving on two separate occasions. The cause of the failures were not determined. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the faiures. The failure mileage was 54,000.
My wife and I purchased a 2007 Nissan Maxima from b. M. W auto dallas llc. The vehicle was advertised as having 137,000 miles. Despite other issues with the car, the deciding factor for the purchase was the low miles. After purchase, our mechanic discovered what he described as "shady business" under the hood and recommended we check the VIN through carfax, autocheck, etc. We purchased an autocheck vehicle report and discovered the odometer was rolled back. From 166k in 2016 to 112k in 1018. The dealer did not disclose information that would have impacted price, at a minimum and our overall buying decision. The mileage fraud also impacts the future selling price of the vehicle.

While I was driving on the highway I stopped to get gas at a rest stop and my car would not start thereafter. After much research this vehicle has a campaign for the electronic steering lock through Nissan . I contacted Nissan and was told due to the age and mileage of the vehicle they would not be able to reimburse ! due to malfunction my car should have the appropriate steering box identified in their campaign. The dealership and Nissan corporation refused to abide by their own campaign and denied any reimbursement for repairs.

Unable to push start car ignition. A key signal shows on dash and car will not start after shutting down engine. The key is in the car at the time. My daughter has been stranded several times because she can't get push start ignition to start. I have read that other owners of this make and more have had same issue.
When driving down the street it just turned off. Said it was crank/ cam position sensors well changed them and put new throttle body. And now to find there is a recall however my VIN is not part of it. Well it should be. And be fixed. I have been trying to fix for 9 months. Been sitting longer. First had to figure out where to start.

Transmission failed prior to first service requirements, cvt transmission. Warranty extended but not for current year. Only year prior. Also vtc retartder kit recalled for 2009-2013, not for 2014. Same problems are happening but not being covered under recall. Took to dealer and was told it is not covered even if the problem was a recall for the year before.

The car loses power as I'm driving, I replaced alternator and fuel pump I'm at around $1100 in with repairs and labor. The problem still exist I turn car on and drive within 10 mins the car loses power and acceleration then eventually dies. This happened on the highway on one occasion, very frustrating and scary to say the least. It's not the battery cuz it's also new. This is getting scary and ridiculous.
My car caught fire due to electrical in the engine the whole front of my car is burned me and my family was asleep the neighbor came and knocked on the window and said my car was on fire I called the fire department they put the fire out and I asked how was the fire started the firemen told me the fire started from the engine.
Vehicle was in motion and all of a sudden gears started to shift on its own , so stopped on the side of the highway and turned off my engine then I turned it back on after about 15 minutes and it was driving well until after about 10 minutes of driving the gears wouldn't go past 2nd gear.
Camshaft position sensor failed.
Please fix your auto fill --- it just erased everything! anyway, the engine cuts out while driving in traffic. The engine cuts out while waiting at a red light. The engine cuts out while turning. It's all random! the engine code shows p0340, bank 1 and bank2, and sometimes p0345. I have replaced the camshaft position sensors five times!!!!! I have tried both auto zone and hitachi, and neither of them solves the problem. I also paid to have the crankshaft sensor below replaced, and that didn't help. I am told that this problem has been posted online and it was recommended to only use oem parts. This is very dangerous to lose power while in traffic, and then having to wait until the engine will restart, which eventually it does. This is an ongoing problem. Please help!!!.
Abs lights flashed on and off several times. Then solid brake light came on. Car gave off a strange smell. Turned off car. Parked car in the street. 2 hours later the police alerted us that the car was on fire. The engine bay was completely engulfed in flames. Fire department was called and they extinguished the fire. Police report was filed. Video of the fire was captured on my ring doorbell.

Car won't start. It turns on and it cranks but it doesn't start.
Minimal acceleration sometimes. Vehicle acts as if slipping gears, or totally loses power. Acceleration issues happen from both stopped and highway driving conditions.
Evap recall; severe rust; power steering is weakening; motor has extremely loud start; not safe to drive more than 2 miles - stopped driving today after the car's brakes and rotors were changed due to horrible rust issue.
When the car is warmed up and when idling the rpm go up and down and also it idles very irratically.
Tl the contact owns a 2003 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred every day for the past six months. The dealer (ingram park Nissan, 6990 northwest loop 410, san antonio, TX 78238) was contacted by phone, but the vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,432.
My 2014 Nissan Maxima with my family and myself inside were in a near death situation when the car did not have power to cross train tracks that went across the road. We heard the train coming and the only reason we escaped death was because of a man in a pickup truck in back of us observed the situation and quickly pushed the car over the tracks and out of the way just before the train quickly passed through. I later found out from the dealership that the Nissan cvt transmission failed and that was why the car didn't have the power to cross the train tracks. They also said that the cvt transmission repair would cost me $5000. 00 and that the repair wasn't covered under any cvt transmission warranty. Nissan should cover this repair on there known troublesome cvt transmission. Would Nissan cover expenses from the death of my family and myself because of there faulty transmission?.
I was stopping for gas to head back to work, then I realized that a cloud of smoke never seen it before.

This vehicle is severely defective. This vehicle is not safe to be on the road. This vehicle has had several repairs for the same repair issue but the problem still exists. I have spent thousands on this vehicle and this vehicle is still inoperative and not drivable. This vehicle is a hazard for the road. Vehicle is unsafe! vehicle has still not been repaired. Please I like to be compensated and reimbursed for the loss I have suffered. Please compensate and/or reimbursed me for the $10,000. 00 I lost in a defective, inoperable, and unsafe vehicle. Thank god my child and I did not get seriously hurt while I was driving this vehicle. I remember one incident while I was driving this vehicle: right in the middle of me driving this vehicle I was going about 40-45 mph on the highway, the vehicle just shut down all of a sudden. The entire electrical system just shutdown. That was very frightening! so, yes I like to be fully compensated for all my troubles with this vehicle.
