3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

The second time my car stalled I was driving back home in my 2007 Maxima when suddenly my car stalled while driving. I was making a left hand turn from major road onto my street. The first time it happened I was in the left hand lane on a major road at rush hour accellerating from a stop light. I took car to the Nissan dealer and based on me telling them I was hearing a whining noise and not the stalling issue they informed me it was faulty cam shaft sensors and the timing belt. Service advisor told me it had to be repaired or my life could be in danger depending on where it decided to stall the next time or the timing chain failed and killed my engine. This cost me approximately $2000. My car had ~100,000 miles and I have had all recommended services performed at the same dealer. Regardless of the faulty part I believe the car behavior is unacceptable and Nissan should do something to address the issue instead of using the problem as a cash cow.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 03/15/2015

Took my 07 Maxima with 73k miles to a Nissan dealer for a whining noise I thought was the transmission which is under mfg. Warranty. Was told the noise is from the timing chain guides. A repair of almost $2000. 00. Now I find that there is a TSB on this from years ago. I've had this car since 2009, Nissan should have notified owners since this defect left not repaired could cause the motor to cut out at any time. It also will destroy the motor since it"s not a clearance engine. I have maintained this vehicle to the letter. Nissan is know for this engine and the reason I buy them is they use timing chains not belts.

7 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2001 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/01/2007

Timing chain, guide or tensioner worn. Rattle noise coming from timing chain cover when accelerating from stop or at low end of rpms when revving motor in neutral. Could puncture timing chain cover, causing loss of oil or chain could fail. Dealers states that removal of engine is required for service , and by the time labor and parts are totaled, it makes more sense to replace the engine. D dealers state that this was a part that should not require service. Cost of replacement $4,000, half or more of the value of the vehicle, depending on what price reference was used.

9 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2000 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/18/2004

We had been smelling gasoline inside the car for about a day. When we started the car in the morning there was a little difficulty starting the car. We backed out and noticed some liquid in our parking space. Upon checking the liquid smelled like gasoline. When I checked under the hood, there was a gasoline leak when we started the car (spraying all over the engine). The injector fuel line where it goes into the fuel rail was leaking at the crimp clamp. The part was not available anywhere in the united states. (we were at the end of a weeks vacation in arizona). We thought we found a used part but it was the wrong one. Finally, after we had to rent a car to come home, Nissan said it would be shipping the part to our mechanic's distributor and would be available in 5 - 10 days. I had to take a bus back to arizona to pick up the car. It could have been a catastrophe if the car had caught fire or if we were in a desolate or precarious area where we had been earlier that week.
