1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 09/15/2020

My car is very reliable until now with only 105,000 miles? my problem started about September 2020 when I started to hear my car make a rough sound suddenly, like a winding noise when I accelerate and when I let off the gas as well. I didn't think much of it until I took it to a Nissan dealer to have them check it out. They called me the next day tell me I need a new transmission and its going to be around $5,500. Which I don't have especially in this pandemic. Also they told me if I get the new transmission it only comes with 1 year warranty. Nissan only covers it until 60,000 miles which I don't believe people buying a new Nissan expect it to go further then that! my issue is that Nissan is putting in these faulty transmissions knowing that it will fail soon and only give you 1 year warranty if you do replace it after pay 5,500?.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 07/24/2020

While driving my son and I to the store the car stopped accelerating on a major highway with cars coming. We we almost hit by a truck. When I applied the accelerator the car stayed on 0 mph but the rpm moved. After about 5 seconds the car began accelerating again. It also made a loud whining noise afterward. The Nissan dealer said the cvt transmission needs to be replaced. The car just hit 80,000 miles.

The cvt transmission putter at low speed with a with lots of noise, I have to give it more gas for the noise to stop. The passenger front door lock and driver side rear door lock does not unlock. Fog light on the car is not working, I was told my a mechanic that the relay switch that is built into the steering column is no good and will need to be replaced.

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 09/02/2019

As I was driving on highway from arkansas to texas my car started making this really loud noise as I was accelerating. I was only at 60 mph and the car was still making the noise but as I was increasing my speed to pass and switch lanes my car seem like it became stuck and wouldn't let me accelerate or go any faster and my rpm jumped to 5. I pulled over and rested my car for a minute took it to o reiley to get it checked since my service engine soon light had come on and the code that returned was code p1778 something they stated that pertain to the step motor function/transmission.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2017 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 07/06/2019

After numerous visits to the Nissan dealership without getting answers and clearly explaining that my car is experiencing cvt judder and vibrations. I have been experiencing the vibrations as told to Nissan for awhile but I don't think they wanted to replace my cvt transmission since it was still under warranty so I was told the noise and vibrations were normal cvt chatter. I am now past my extended warranty and the judder and vibrations have only gotten worse. The 2017 Maxima needs to be added to the volantary service bulletins like the 2016 due to all the complaints its currently already receiving. My Maxima now has 112,000k miles but I have been seeing the symptoms since around 70k-80k miles to only be told time and time again its normal with a possible $3,700 transmission bill awaiting me for a car that has only been driven on the highway less than 3 years. Nissan has shown that their cvt transmissions are extremely unreliable.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/29/2018

Brought vehicle to repair shop because of noise. Repair shop informed me that noise comes from transmission. Did some investigation and found that Nissan has had issues with these cvt transmissions. Nissan had a recall for all years until 2010 including 2010. Not 2011. This is the same transmission that fails prematurely. I called the dealer $145 diagnostic. No guarantees that Nissan will provide "goodwill assistance" . Why did recall stop in 2010?.

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 05/31/2017

Takata recall. Car made a noise and then stalled. Pulled over and car would not go in drive or reverse. Transmission went out in vehicle.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/22/2015

Got the car a year ago from carmax. Had the car for less than 30 days before the transmission gave out. The mileage was right around 52,000 miles. They took it back, fixed it and it was fine. Now here I am again less than a year later I'm having the same exact issue. Jerking really hard in between gears, rpm would red line before it would finally switch gears. Now this time the transmission completely gave out on me in the middle of a busy intersection! when I stepped on the gas, the car made a noise as if the power was failing, and sure enough it did. The car cut off on me. Contacted carmax again to see if I had an extended warranty. But this will be the second time I've got the car fixed for the same issue. Now I have around 80,000 miles on this car.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Maxima. While driving approximately 30 mph, the transmission began to jerk violently and the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also heard a constant rattling noise coming from the timing chain while driving various speeds. An independent mechanic recommended that the faulty timing chain be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

11 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 04/18/2012

My transmission in my car keeps getting stuck in 5th. It is an automatic with a slap stick, I have tried to manually gear it down and it will jerk and make a loud noise and will not come out of 5th. I have to turn the car off and wait about 10-15 minutes and crank it to see if it is back in 1st 9 times out of 10 it is still in 5th so I have to keep turning off the car and re crank it and it acts like it doesn't want to start!.

12 Transmission Noise problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

A couple of months ago, my 2005 Nissan Maxima began having transmission problems. When beginning to drive, the vehicle will jerk when it reaches 2 and 3 rpms and rev the engine. Before it resumes "normal" drive, it will jerk again and make a loud clunking noise. This also happens when attempting to put the car into reverse. I was told today by the local Nissan dealership that the transmission must be replaced costing approximately $3300. 00! the dealership never informed me of these issues, even after a transmission flush and a courtesy check when I first brought the car to them several weeks ago. I am shocked and disturbed after reading how many other Nissan Maxima owners are having the exact same problem I am having. How many complaints must there be for a resolution if each person is having the same problem?!.

13 Transmission Noise problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 07/04/2011

Over the past year since Feb 2010, I have been having transmission problems with my 2005 Nissan Maxima. The car gives a hard jerks when going from 1st to 2nd gear. Yesterday while driving my Maxima on the highway, luckily I was driving at 20-30 km/hr, it completely stopped and would not accelerate. For a few seconds, made this horribel noise and then kicked back into gear like nothing had happenen. This continued to happen 3 times in a span of 10 min. I drove to a mister transmission where I was told I needed a new transmission for $3000-$3,500. Thank goodness I was not hit and killed. Nissan is fully aware of the 2005 Maxima transmission problem that thousands of consumers are experiencing but yet they are doing anything to correct the problem. I am filing a complaint against Nissan because they were fully aware about the transmission defect. This is a very dangerous situation-someone will be killed.

16 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 12/03/2010

I purchased a brand new 2006 Nissan Maxima. I have my car serviced every three months and now at only 69,000 milieus my transmission has failed. A few months after purchasing my vehicle I noticed a ?whining? noise when accelerating. I took the car back to the dealer several times for this issue and was told by the service manager that the mechanic could find no issue. I believe that there is a transmission defect on the 2006 Nissan Maxima and there should be a recall.

17 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

2006 Nissan Maxima transmition keeps sliping and jerking in-between gears. There is a growling noise coming from the engine. There is a squeeking coming from the front driverside shock. 19 Transmission Noise problem of the 2005 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

2005 Nissan maima, 60k miles. I am now having automatic transmission problems that I have found are rather common for this car. I will be taking to a Nissan dealer for inspection, but my concern is the fact that Nissan is not identifying this as a habitual problem - which should warrant a recall. I have owned the car since showroom and have maintained the car according to Nissan requirements. Had to have the motor mounts replaced in 09 after I noticed unual noise coming from the car when I would accerlate from a stop. Inspection discovered that the motor mounts needed to be replaced. I believe this may be a direct cause to my transmission issue now and according to several forum complaints many other individuals have had the same exact issue that I am experiencing now. Once my inspection with Nissan that will be done on 8/30/10 and their diagnosis I will update my complaint.

21 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/26/2010

I am a Nissan Maxima lover!! I have had a 95 max, a 00 max, and now a 04 max. I had no major problems what so ever with my Maximas except for this 04. This car is literally driving me crazy! first the car started jerking. Then my windows started sticking my driver and passenger window will go down then sometimes not come back up. Then later it started making this embarrassing rattling noise. Everytime I got an oil change it would stop for a while. I needed a dependable car which is why I got another Nissan but about two weeks ago I was grocery shopping with my kids and as I turned on the highway headed home the whole car shut down in the middle of traffic. How dangerous is that. I managed to coast to a gas station and had to call aaa to tow it home now I am stuck with a car that I cannot drive and have to continue to make car payments on. Ive been told it was a mixture of my transmission and timing chain. There have been several reports on this site with transmission and timing chain problems. Unless Nissan does something about this my next car will be a Ford fusion! love my Maxima but cannot endanger my kids with an undependable vehicle. With all that business Nissan gets what harm will it cause for you to help your customers fix cars that you caused the problem to with this faulty engine and transmission problems. It would keep customers like me coming back to Nissans. I do like the new models but I dont want to go through this problem with a newer car. Nissan what are you going to do?????.

22 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/07/2009

2004 Nissan Maxima: October 7, 2009 the check engine light came on, several miles later as we entered our drive way the car started to shut down. I notice some jerking and metal rattling noise as I slow down. After stopping the car would not go forward. At this time the car would only go in reverse, but once I turn the engine off I could not start the car again. The dealership were I purchase the car has done all the services, and yes they did flush the transmission. Type of transmission fluid is not know.

24 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 11/25/2008

Exhaust/emission - catalytic converter failed and makes terrible noise - not fixed yet. Dealer says, car will work without any problems at 103,000 miles (8th year) body frame - under carriage on driver side rusted, with a bulge. Dealer said, rusting it not enough, you should be able to put the screw driver or finger through the rusted portion. 35000 miles ( after 5years and 2 days) transmission - it jerks and is very dangerous on the road. Repair estimation is around $3500 from the dealer. When the car comes to a stop in the traffic light, then sometimes, it does not move. After accelerating a bit, it just jumps. It is very very hard to go in a stop and go traffic. So I maintain a certain distance keeping this in mind. Nissan motor corporation does not care for any of the issues. Dealer comes up with one or the other reason. Until now they have never worked conducively with the customers. 103,000 (9th year. ) engine - the timing chain failed, engine was making the sound of a railroad. Costed a lot to get it fixed, and after that, sound is not completely gone. After multiple compliants, they are not bothered. They say, use only 93 octance. 103,000(9th year).

28 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/30/2008

I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima with 61,038 miles on it. As I am driving, my car will jump sometimes lightly & at other times very hard. If I put the car in reverse and then put the gear back into drive, I will have to wait for the car to jump into gear. When I brake, the car will jump before stopping. It feels like the engine is slipping. At times, the car jumps so hard that I see other people look my way. This can happen at any time, day or night, hot or cold. . . The car would have been driven for hrs. , so yes it is warmed up. In June of 2008, I took the car to a transmission shop & I was told I needed 2 transmission mounts and a transmission flush which would cost over $900. 00. I took it to my mechanic and I had it done for a little over $600. 00. A few days later I had the same problem. I took the car back to my mechanic 3 more times & they could not find anything wrong. In September of 2008, I took the car to a Nissan dealer & it passed all of the diagnostic tests. I was very disappointed. On 2/6/2009, I took the car to a Nissan dealer & I was told that I needed a transmission which will cost me $4507. 00,I need a right engine mount which will cost $361. 00, both front struts are making a chucking noise. . . $832. 00, lower control arm bushings are broken. . . $809. 00. All of these repairs because of the car's jerking. The mechanic told me that if I get this done, the car should last about 6 to 7 more yrs. I had to pay $98. 00 for the dealership to trouble shoot, when the amount is usually $65. 00 for inspection at other places. I cannot afford to buy a new transmission, I would be better off trying to by something else (no Nissan) to drive. I still have payments on this car, so that is not even being realistic. I am fed up with this car & there is nothing that I can do about it. I only drive the car to work & places that I must go to, because I am scared to rely on it. I can't enjoy my weekends anymore because I have to depend on this car. Please help.
