Subject: vehicle safety complaint – 2020 Nissan Murano, VIN [xxx] dear NHTSA, I am submitting a formal vehicle safety complaint regarding my 2020 Nissan Murano (VIN: [xxx] ) due to unresolved safety defects that match existing recalls. I have been notified of two recall campaigns affecting my vehicle model: 1. Nhtsa campaign 21v402000 (steering knuckle/rear axle housing defect). 2. Nhtsa campaign 21v170000 (transverse link/ball joint defect). Despite these active recalls being published in NHTSA’s database, Nissan consumer affairs has denied that my VIN is included, even though my vehicle is exhibiting the exact safety defects described: [insert brief description of your issues, e. G. , steering instability, noises, or loss of control symptoms]. I have already provided Nissan with: - NHTSA campaign numbers - recall notifications received through the kelley blue book app - documentation of my safety concerns Nissan has failed to provide a resolution. I request that NHTSA investigate whether additional vins should be included in these recalls and ensure Nissan fulfills its obligations to correct these safety defects. I am prepared to supply copies of all recall notifications, correspondence with Nissan and, documentation of my vehicles defects upon request. My vehicle stop on the highway. Jut cut off out of nowhere. And has been cutting off and losing power. I replaced the battery which I thought was the problem. Then I thought it was the alternator so I took it to Nissan to have a diagnostic and they said it was not and that no codes came up that a positive battery cable had to be replaced. I was charged 342 for a diagnostic and to change a cable. They told me to pick up my vehicle and got home it was still cutting off. I took it to o'reilly they said it was the alternator. Nissan just took my money. Also they printed out a list of other problems that were not addressed or need be repair on this vehicle that I purchased at 118,000 miles. I dont even drive this vehicle to have all these part to have yo be replaced. The powers steering is leaking and the air bag and seat belt light appears to stay on.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while making a right turn from a complete stop, the vehicle lost motive power and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the road. No further information was available. The vehicle was then towed to the residence. The vehicle was later restarted and driven to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Heard a snap, then lost brakes and steering, caused the car to go into a guard rail.

Car power steering rack liking bad, car has 46k miles this car should be recalled, is got major issues with power steering rack, in which Nissan didn’t do it right do to parts shortage, this is dangerous for my kids this car can burn any second, if you telling me that car at 46 k has a major power steering leek I would never buy this car, we took our car into Nissan they do not want to fix this, they asking $2100 to fix for what Nissan did when they build a car, this has to be on recall list for all Nissan 2017, , local Nissan is ignoring this problem, we will sue , this is a dangerous problem to have on the car, it will catch a fire eventually, start resolving this to avoid law suits. Nissan is recalling more than 56,000 cars because of power-steering hoses that may leak fluid and potentially lead to fires. Nissan north America said the recall affects the 2013-2014 Murano vehicles. The problem stems from the power-steering hose clamp, which may not adequately secure the hose. That could allow the hose to detach and leak power-steering fluid, the company said. Power-steering fluid leaking onto a hot engine or exhaust pipes could cause a fire, Nissan said.

Slowly over time it is becoming harder to turn the wheel, making a loud clumping voice when I turn the wheel a certain direction.

This car it was in the garage. I almost never use it only sometimes to go in the store and this cannot happen. The car who passed just 46,000. Steering rack: power steering rack and electronic power steering fluid - power steering is very notchy. Upon inspection of vehicle found power steering rack leaking from the passenger side seal. Recommend replacing rack and bleeding power steering system. The steering wheel is attached to the steering rack by the steering shaft. When the steering wheel is turned, the steering rack interprets the directional input and pushes or pulls the front wheels in the desired direction. The steering rack is secured to the chassis.

Driving to work in the rain the vehicle began to sway when breaks were applied. The back of the vehicle went right and the car went left. I moved to the right lane and the vehicle fishtailed! I was totally afraid that I could drive into a ditch or be killed on the highway. I drove very slowly to the repair shop, after inspection, I needed struts but then the mechanic looked further and saw that the rear k-subframe was completely corroded and unable to be welded. The one piece was completely apart from the other. A danger to drive. Once I began to look for a replacement part, I began to see how many other Murano owners have had the same issues with the subframe rusting out. This is absolutely crazy that this part is not recalled as the part is defective in the construction of it. Nissan should be ashamed. My life and my daughter's was at risk. There are no warning lights to advise of this problem prior to its failure.

On 3/15/2023 while in traffic (0730) the traction light began to fash & the vehicle began to fishtail. Fortunately I was abe to exit the expressway without an additional incident. Had the vehicle towed to fred martin Nissan in akron, OH this is the dealer that has maintained my vehicle since 2010 & the only service department that has repaired my vehicle. I was advised the rear subframe was broken! 3/3/2023 I had the vehicle aligned at fred martin at which time I advised the vehicle pulled to the left while breaking & a noise intermittently was coming from the back of the vehicle. This incident could have cost me or another their life or serious injury! this is a huge safety risk & Nissan needs to address the issue immediately!.

This is a 2020 Nissan Murano s. The vehicle has been well maintained and taken to the dealership for maintenance periodically. I usually take my vehicle to either antwerpen Nissan clarksville or antwerpen Nissan security. I took my vehicle to antwerpen Nissan security for a transmission flush and change. Shortly after that service I started to notice an oil smell coming into the cabin. I took it back to them twice and they did not see any leakage or anything to cause the smell. I later took my car to antwerpen clarksville. They didn't notice the smell but said I needed to replace both front lower control arms for $1655. 88. Front lower control arms splitting, dry rotting. This car was purchased brand new and only had 62k miles. This appears to be premature wear and of course the warranty as passed, which would have been 5 years or 60,000 miles. Out of all the visits I had, no one seen this premature wear on the control arm until this visit. This doesn't happen overnight, and I think Nissan should cover this. My vehicle was seen at antwerpen Nissan at 56k and inspected and the dealer never mentioned this issue.

Please recall electrical system, started out the doors not locking and trunk wont open then inside lights would not come on. I put my steering wheel down lower and when I did the car would not start. The inside lights come on when the car wont start then when I move steering wheel back up the lights go back off and the car will start again. The all wheel drive lock button will not work and the all wheel drive kicks in and out on it's own while driving the vehicle. While my children and I were on our way to town the vehicle started to lose power and the steering wheel was hard to handle then the all wheel drive locked in and out and then power was back. It was scary and it almost caused me to crash and people to crash into me from sudden speed reduction. The mechanics I take my vehicles to told me I'll have to take it to a Nissan dealership to get the electrical system taken care of or replaced.

About a year ago my husband and I noticed there was alot of rust in the rear end on the sway bar and around it not to long after the sway bar looked as if it was going to come apart on the left side my husband got it to stay put for a little while but as time went on the truck just became more unsafe anytime we tried to drive it it was all over the road it's kept pulling to the left very badly we noticed that the back tires were not straight and bowing out my husband changed the front tire on the left for unrelated reasons and then the next day we was driving and the awd light started flashing we were heading home and went to take off from a red light when I hit the gas the whole rear end exploded into pieces and now we definitely can't use it the only way to is to replace the rear end. Since we bought this SUV it's been nothing but problems and money and now we have no transportation are truck was how we make money were self employed so now we can't even make money to survive or even repair the SUV. The truck has been very unsafe since day 1 we bought it and all because of the back end of it. Someone needs to recall this vehicle ASAP before someone gets hurt and someone needs to help me fixy vehicle or get into another one cause this is not my fault and now I'm suffering not being able to make money or survive without a vehicle my mom is disabled and has a tumor I have to be able to take her to appointments and store etc. This is not fair to us cause of a problem you guys should have taken care of a long time ago. I will keep pushing this and pursuing it I will go as high as I have to for some to acknowledge and help me. Thank you if you need pictures I will gladly send in some.

The rack and pinion and power steering pump going out which is a safety issue if the power steering goes out while driving I feel that Nissan should fix this issue due to be a hazard and safety issue to the driver and other people on the road it can cause a severe wreak if not a fatality.

Broken rear k frame/sub frame. Vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and left the roadway after fishtailing in the rain. Towed to repair shop. Inspection of the rear suspension shows multiple premature catastrophic failures of the rear k frame and or sub frame structure. Stabilization bar is completely broken from it's mount. Rear k frame/sub frame is prematurely corroded and completely broken in half.

Normal driving and the seat broke and has been for several years causing instability and oscillation. Recently my steering wheel will not align, brought it to a mechanic that informed me the rear sub-frame is cracked on both sides causing the tires to malign, creating un-even wear on the back tires and a hazard to drive.

During regular driving, the vehicle's engine emitted a loud bang, followed by a lot of white smoke coming from the engine and substantial fluid leakage from the vehicle to the ground. The dash was clear: there were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms prior to the event. The dealer (jim coleman Nissan, bethesda) found that the high pressure power steering hose had "blown off" and the power steering switch was also damaged and needed to be replaced. I pulled over and parked, but did not stay in the vehicle because online research on my phone after the fact showed that 2014 Muranos were previously recalled for this problem and that fires sometimes ensued. Nissan hq stated that the recall for 2014 Muranos for this problem did not include my 2014 Murano's VIN #. It seems an unlikely coincidence and other Muranos of this year should be inspected.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that a power steering fluid leak was initially discovered on her vehicle and the power steering hose was replaced. The contact then stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would shut off without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where she was informed that the power steering pump was defective and needed to be replaced. The failure persisted after the repair and the vehicle was later diagnosed by the same dealer with a defective camshaft and catalytic converter. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I just purchased my 2006 Nissan Murano still making payments and I noticed when I am driving it feels like the back is riding on ice. I drove it on the freeway and was so scared of the way the car felt like I had no control of the steering it felt as if it was goingvto fishtail. I did take it back to the car lot I bought it from to have someone take a look at it and they gave me the number of a mechanic. The mechanic asked if they were paying for the diagnostic and I thought thats what the warranty was for but was told the warranty only covers the tranny and engine. So they said they would get ahold of the owner and ask him if they can pay for it that was 4 or 5 days ago and still no word back. I plan on taking the car to get it checked out if I can find someone to diagnose it free I am on disability and still making payments on the car so have very little money left after all my bills.

Whether I'm driving 70 mph on the interstate or 20 down the street the car will randomly shut off and come to a complete stop and make whining noise until it comes to a complete stop. I have to shut the car off and turn it back on.

While operating my vehicle on 6/27/2020 after 1hr of driving the car steering wheel would not turn almost causing an accident. I had to stop the car put in it park, turn the car off and then back on. When I tried to turn the car on and it hesitated then turn over. I then proceeded to turn the corner and the check engine light came on. This is the 2nd time this has happened and when I took car to car shop. The code was p0340, cam shaft position. I replace the cam shaft after this happened the first time. Now this has happened again, almost causing me to have an accident.

The abs light comes on while driving and car stalls or immediately shuts down. I took the vehicle to Nissan and a diagnostic test was done. They said I needed to have my crank shaft positioning sensor changed; I paid and had it replaced and still I am experiencing the same problem. I took the vehicle back to kings Nissan at coney island brooklyn 2 weeks ago and it's still there and they can't figure out what's going on. Now I am being told they'll have to take the car apart to figure what's the problem and that'll cost me about a thousand dollars for labor, not inclusive of any parts that may need to be replaced. My problem here is that Nissan cannot determine the issue and is having me pay for parts while they change parts by assuming what they issue might be, since they are unable to determine the real issue. My biggest regret is purchasing a Nissan vehicle. The vehicle is barely 30,000 miles and it's costing me time and money.

The vehicle was being driven on this date back to the dealership who had done the repair 5 days earlier Nissan of oursman of laurel MD . The vehicle began to once again perfom the same was it did the 2 week earlier when the incidentoccurrence on I 295 n bound deoartibng washington DC , this Saturday the vehicle was acting erraticly in the parking lot of my loack food lion grocery story on 197 in laurel MD, as I depated the parking lot I experience the grinding sould on and off and the shakking / virbrating of the steering wheel turning to the left or right without me directing it to do so. . . Therefore I headed out the lot to go to the dealership before they closed at 3pm. . . I got their about 1230pm, and wasn't received by the staff favorable based . Tghis would be a retake based on poor and incomplete maintenance performed the week before when same vehicle was taken into same dealership with respect to abs actuator , which I felt the same issues and concern but this time the vehicle pulled abrutly to the left in traffic and I almost side -swiped the vehicle nest to me in the lane beside me.

The progressive rattling/ shaking from the steering wheel has led to some close calls driving on multi lane roads the curve to the left at all. I've never had a single service light turn on even though steering and wheel issues were apparent. Every bump and cranny on the road is felt causing disturbance in ability to steer especially during in town driving.

Bought the car 5 months ago. Was driving awesome. Brand new tires! very well maintained with lots of paperwork stating work done on vehicle!. . :well was driving it the other day with my 2 year old daughter and it started to over heat I immediately pulled over after going 60 mph on the highway for over an hour. I'm now stuck on the highway with my toddler in the 80 degree weather when I just thought it was my radiator. The state police notice my rear 2 tires slanted , top leaning in bottom leaning out. After the car gets put on the flat bed tow I spot my rear crossmember k frame split in 2 spots! radiator was my sign telling me my awd is acting up something happened. If I would have hit one small bump on that highway I wouldn't be here to file this complaint. This is a known issue to Nissan! this needs to be fixed!!! and made sure all vehicles are safe for anyone to be in. My vehicle is 12 years old no way should that frame even be able to snap not in one but two spots on this vehicle. This is a huge safety issue that needs to be resolved. I my car overheating was a blessing because that could have been deadly. This will be brought to bigger attention because all Nissan owners need to be aware and this needs to be fixed !!!!!!.

The vehicles power steering goes in and out as well as the braking system.

The car was in motion and all of the sudden shut off while driving and lost ability to stop, steer, and restart. When car came to a stop I tried to start the car and it stall. Car was full of gas and all fluid levels are fine. The car has 20k miles so no mechanical problems exist. This happened in las vegas while the outside temperature was 108. I saw the same issue with other Nissan cars in las vegas per youtube videos. Please help! I am afraid it may do so again and cause an accident. This happened today and after leaving the car parked for 2 hours started working fine.

Stering wheel lock actuator its not working dont let my car start this part its so expensive should be a recall regarding this problem I was is chicago 90 degres with my 2 daughters and my wife and my car doesn't start my a/c only can run for a few minutes before the battery is gone , how can be posible that this part can make the car and my family standing on the sun in summer time snissan should be responsible to fix this problem.

I was riding on the highway and almost got hit a couple of times. My car just stalled an shut down. It is a hazard cause myself and my kids could have gotten killed. I have a new serpentine belt , battery is good an alternator is good. My car was driving then all of a sudden it just stalled.

Takata recall multiple times the car while in motion wants to cut off or won't drive. I was driving and it wasn't wanting to drive. I pulled into a parking lot to my right. Then as I entered the parking lot the car turned off completely by itself and I couldn't use my breaks or steering wheel. I ended up running it into a curb to be able to come to a complete stop. I have read that there is a recall on 2005-2007 Nissan. I looked up my VIN number to see if there was a recall and it says there was not a recall on my vechile but other Nissan owners have been having the same problem. I have a baby and don't need my Nissan shutting off and causing an accident while I have my baby in the car.

When riding over 50 miles when you gas the car it goes to the left and when you let of the gas it goes to the wright, I think it is the bushing of the chassis.

I was driving at about 30 mph on a city street and all the dash lights came on including the brake light, car would not accelerate and steering wheel locked like it had no power steering. Pulled over, parked, turned off car, waited a minute. Turned car back on and all dash lights were off again. Drove for a mile to see if it would happen again and it did not. What the hell, @Nissan? I had my children in the car. That's not safe for a car to just turn off like that.

Subframe broke between the rear wheels while driving on city street. Mechanic inspected it and subframe is rusted from inside out. Mileage on the car is 150,000 miles and I am the first owner that took very good care of the car, from keeping it in my garage, to regular maintenance and car washing to prevent rust. Car is inoperable waiting for the part to come in for replacement for 6 days. Nissan had a recall on this model for 2003-2007 year of manufacturing, however I had not received any notice.
