The transmission began to slip. Slow moving . Then vehicle would not start. Engine code u1000. Had the vehicle towed to a repair shop. They replaced the started. I paid them 400. 00. I got in the vehicle it would not start. The mechanic replaced a 20a fuse in the fuse box for the ecu. Drove vehicle home, then would not start again. Researched online stumbled onto article about defective Nissan transmission being a ticking time bomb. Check transmission fluid, strawberry milk shake. Radiator fluid dark. Thanks Nissan , I bought this vehicle used, found out the engine was bad, spent 8000. 00 replacing the engine and now the transmission and radiator are bad. I will never purchase another Nissan. Why wasn't there a recall for the radiator ???.
I purchased a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder about 6 months ago. The vehicle has 139,000 miles. The transmission has begun slipping, and I took it to a transmission repair place, and they told me it would be at least $3500 minimum. They said coolant from the radiator has leaked into the transmission destroying the transmission.
Problem started when transmission started to slip while driving back and forth to work. . Had transmission flushed did not help. . . Learned about the inter-cooler defecate so checked the radiator to find tranny fluid. . Car is over 100k miles so left with all repair cost and a sorry about your luck. . . . .
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving approximately 50 mph, the rpms increased rapidly and the engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, the transmission slipped and failed to shift into the reverse position properly. The failure recurred two times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was awaiting diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000.
Transmission fluid is milky colored. Loss of coolant. Transmission slipping. Somehow coolant in transmission fluid.
The trucks transmission slipped while I was merging onto the highway. The truck didn't want to move. It was very scary. I had the whole family with me.
Car purchased in sept of 2013, was speeding up from a stop at about 10 mph and the transmission started to slip. It has done it more than once, about 2 weeks ago I was crossing the railroad tracks and it shuttered and jerk, finally getting over them which was extremely scary with my 9 and 2 year old in the car with me. This past week the car has over heated 3 times. The last time leaving me stranded in -5 degrees temperature with my 9 year old daughter. I have since had to borrow a car seeing this Nissan is putting my family in danger every time we drive it. Since it was just purchased with 79,000 I still owe on the vehicle which is extremely upsetting. I have done research since and have see several people with the same problems. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer this week to clarify this is the same issue as all the others. What upsets me even more is the car was sold to me from a Nissan dealer with 79,000 miles and was never mentioned to me of the extended 80,000 miles warranty, since then I have exceeded the 80,000 and am required to pay for this problem that should clearly be a recall. If there was still a warranty at 79,000 why wasn't this issue fixed by the dealer!!! please do all you can to help all these poor families out there!! thank you.
Radiator failed (product defect, no accident or external causes) and leaked into the transmission, effectively destroying it. Had to get both radiator and transmission replaced. Symptoms started with shuddering during shifting, which led to rough shifting, gear slippage, check-engine light, and eventually the car not even starting.
My wife was driving our 2007 Nissan Pathfinder and as she pulled away from a stop sign she felt the transmission slipping. A month earlier we took the vehicle to a shop for a transmission flush and the mechanic told me that it looked like chocolate milk and the engine coolant had mixed with the transmission fluid. He performed the flush and now we were having trouble with the vehicle again. I called the local Nissan dealer and they told me that it was a common problem with this model and could be fixed and all I would have to pay was a deductible which was cheaper than replacing the transmission. I asked how much was the deductible, foolishly thinking that it would be around $500, and they said it would be $3000. I asked why wasn't this treated as a recall and was not given a straight answer. Just the typical bs that Nissan extended the warranty because they "stand behind their product". Ultimately I took it to my mechanic who replaced the radiator and flushed it out. It's working now but I'm sure I will have trouble once again. I don't know how I will get rid of this vehicle and I still owe. I will never buy a Nissan and will bad mouth this company to everyone.
Automatic transmission started to slip after starting a vacation trip. Vehicle will not back up and only moves forward very slowly on level surface, will not climb hills. We had to have the Nissan Pathfinder towed 60 miles, impacted our holiday vacation as we had to return home earlier than planned.
The transmission slips at various speed levels. The dealership inspected and determined that the transmission cooler failed and damaged transmission through cross contamination. The vehicle manufacturer knows that this problem exists but the warranty is only extended to 80000 miles but the problems in most cases show up after 80000 miles.
While driving my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder se, I encountered a hesitation of transmission functionality while making a left hand turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic. As I proceeded to accelerate through the left turn, the transmission seemed to slip and would not get out of first gear. Subsequently, my service engine soon light came on. The next day, I took the vehicle to the local autoexpress to have the odb-ii code retrieved, I was informed that they could not read it as it was a dealer specific code. I left and went right to my local Nissan dealer who informed me that a part of the radiator had broken and the car was now mixing antifreeze with transmission fluid. They informed me that both the radiator and transmission had to be replaced at a cost of $9200. 00, the dealer suggested that I call Nissan as I was just 2000 miles over the warranty. After countless calls to the call center in the phillipines and the regional office in ohio, I was basically told that there was nothing they could do for me, they stated that because there were no records of maintenance being done at the selling dealership, I was out of luck. We purchased this vehicle brand new and it is a fully loaded model. The plan was to drive this to the 200k miles that Nissan has been pitched to commonly achieve. Instead, I have a car in the driveway that I cant drive, I still owe $4700 on it, and it will cost me $9l just to make it useful again. Nissan should be ashamed of themselves. It will not be until someone dies that any recall action will happen. Nissan has chased away a life-long loyal customer.
At approx 50k miles there was a clunking sound when putting into gear, short time period later a coolant smell. Then the transmission was slipping. Finally there is a heavy vibration when shifting or accelerating and the car does not warm up when sitting idle.
Transmission had begun to slip while transitioning to and from gears(no matter the speed). When putting vehicle into gear there would be this horrible "jerk", as if the transmission or engine were about to fall out!!! vehicle would not warm up while in park. Once the vehicle was turned off it would only start back up if the "ecu fuse" were replaced. Took vehicle to transmission specialist and he stated that the radiator had been leaking into the transmission!! this issue is now subject to electrical issues!!! his recommendations, a new or rebuilt transmission. I have read reviews were someone has even had their transmissin replaced only to have the same issues or similar in nature. Nissan is aware of the problem and is not utilizing an appropriate recall.
