1 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2017

Vehicle shakes after reaching 40mph or higher.

2 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2016

Vehicle started vibrating at 40mph took it to a mechanic they advised that the radiator needed to be replaced and that the radiator and transmission fluids mixed, replaced the radiator flushed the transmission vehicle was at 90,000 miles drove the car another year with slight vibration still at 40mph now it is at 106,000 miles transmission is slipping when it warms up won't come out of 2nd gear looking at having to rebuild the transmission for 4500. 00, the radiator was 400. 00 plus an outside cooler for the transmission an additional 200. 00. Had I been made aware of a potential problem I may have been covered because under 80,000 miles I had an issue with the vehicle not heating up when idol the heat would only work when I drove the car and the service engine light was on but the diagnoses was a fuel cap 3 gas caps later the engine light is still on and I had a heating element replaced but it seems that the heating issue is a sign of the transmission issue. Nissan should have made it's customers aware of the issue I purchased the vehicle in 2010 with 13. 000 miles on it they were well aware of the problems. I contacted Nissan and there response was what would you like us to do I don't think the class action suit was fair to the consumer I don't qualify due to the cut off date and now the mileage but I would rather give a transmission shop 3500. 00 rather than give Nissan 3500. 00 I feel that I already paid them enough and for them to know of this issue and not notify the consumer is terrible I have 3 children I drive on the highway in fact I had my 2 year old in the vehicle when the transmission wouldn't come out of 2nd gear it slowed from 60mph to 30mph luckily I was able to pull into the breakdown lane and switch into neutral and back into drive to get it to shift so I could make it to the nearest exit.

3 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle started shaking and an abnormal noise came from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that coolant leaked from the radiator into the transmission and the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,500. Pam.

4 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Vehicle starts shuddering and jerking at 45 miles per hour. . . . Heater only blows hot air when car is moving, blows cold air when idling.

5 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

The vehicle vibrated and shuttered and ceased to move. I was in traffic and luckily had a place to pull over. I had the vehicle towed to the local Nissan dealership. After a discussion and diagnosis by the technician and shop foreman it was determined that the transmission and the radiator had crossed contamination of fluids resulting in the transmission becoming inoperable and requiring the transmission and radiator be replaced. The shop foreman stated that Nissan knew about this defect in the radiator and the resulting problems. I am waiting to find out if Nissan will help with repair cost. I was told by the shop foreman that the cost to replace the transmission and radiator would be approximately $8,000. 00. .

6 Vehicle Shudder problem

8 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2013

Was told that radiator coolant was mixing with my transmission fluid. I noticed first that the heater wasn't getting very hot a few months ago, but since I live in texas, this wasn't a huge deal for me since it's not that cold and so I was going to have it serviced at my next regular oil change. However, then just a couple of days ago, I noticed that the car would shudder around 45 - 50 mph so I took it in immediately and was told that I was experiencing a known defect of Nissan's built between 2005 - 2010. If I had known about 3 months ago (about the time I started noticing the heater issue) I would've been fully covered under their extended warranty of 80,000 miles for this particular defect. But I'm at 84,000 and therefore have to pay $2500 out of pocket for a new transmission and radiator. I feel that I should still be covered since I started experiencing issues before 80,000 miles but I had no idea that it would be such a huge problem that would require a new transmission and radiator on a car that is only 7 years old. . .

9 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

While driving I noticed a grinding sound when I reached speeds of 40-45 mph. When I pulled in to park the vehicle there was a loud grind and then the vehicle would not start. After checking the fluid levels I found that the engine coolant and the transmission fluid were mixing.

10 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2012

First issue started while trying to accelerate onto the interstate. The car/engine started shaking between 40 and 50 mph and would not accelerate. I was nearly rear-ended when I had to merge into traffic. Other issues were similar, car shaking at 40 to 50mph, like driving over a washed out road. Unable to accelerate initially, this would last for several seconds, before finally responding, shaking would go away when speed would exceed 50mph. Final safety issue occurred when accelerating after a stop light onto a highway ramp. At 40mph the transmission completely went out, the car would not shift into gear and would not accelerate. I had just started to merge, I had to swerve back onto the ramp lane and stop in the middle of the road. I was nearly hit by the highway traffic and almost rear-ended by a car going back into the ramp lane. Cars were forced to slam there brakes to avoid hitting my dead car, it also made it very difficult for other cars to merge onto the highway, several cars narrowly avoided an accident. Car was taken to shop, transmission and radiator had to be replaced. Radiator defect had caused the transmission to fail.

11 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2012

At 40 mph, the vehicle started vibrating and grinding. I promptly took it in to the dealership for a check, and was informed that it is the transmission that needs replaced. I was told that I "just missed" the cut off for the warranty extension to cover this defect, as my vehicle as 81000 miles on it. The defect is reportedly only covered until 80000. I was never notified of a defect or recall. I have followed all manufacture recommended maintenance of my Pathfinder. Please consider extending this coverage, since it is a defect and not related to my care of my vehicle.

12 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2011

It was November 2011, I was driving my Nissan 2007 at that time I was 9 months pregnant. My daughter who was 5 years old was with me. I was entering the freeway when my car started to shake, make noises and it started to slowdown on its own. I presses the speeding pedal but it kept loosing power. My daughter was crying because she was scare. I was crying too I did not know what to do I was in a dangerous situation because it happen when traffic was at its pick. I could not stop because cars where behind me and I could not speed because my car was loosing power and it smell like something was burning. I manage to get off the freeway with the emergency lights and stop the car at the moment the car die(no power). A tow truck had to take as home. Nissan would not fix the problem because of the miles/warranty whichever comes first rule that they have. They would fixed for a lot of money anyway I took it to a shop an I was told it was the radiator which damage the transmission. I had it repair and a few days latter all the emergency lights on the car turn on and went crazy and the car stop at ones this time it was the gas tank. It scare me so much that I call my husband and told him, "this car is going to kill me and my children" Nissan Pathfinder is dangerous and something must be done or someone is going to get kill. It is a safety issue please help us. Do something we need help Pathfinders are dangerous Nissan won't fix this factory problem with out getting pay. Please a recall needs to get done. I beg you do something this is the USA or not? I know at list 3 more people that had the same problems with this cars and all the mechanics agree that it is a factory problem. I will never buy a Nissan it is a lemon! first radiator linkage then liquid in transmission then replace transmission than it will be the gas tank what is next?.

13 Vehicle Shudder problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

The contact owns 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle was vibrating. He also mentioned that when he applied the accelerator pedal it would not engage immediately. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the controller at the bottom of the radiator malfunctioned causing the transmission and coolant fluids to mix, as a result the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the warranty had expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 86,992.
