Transmission problems, water on transmission fluid.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

While driving today the rpms went crazy and I almost wrecked . The car would spudder and then rev up. Also, at a stop light when trying to go the car seems to barely move and acts like it's going to die. Now we have transmission problems and have had to replace radiator, hoses, and all fluids in transmission and radiator.

Radiator was defective (original) and leaked coolant into transmission causing breakdown of transmission, neutral/park sensor, computer. Need to replace radiator, rebuild transmission and replace senor. $5k job. Never was notified of defective radiator problem and thus did not know that this would be an issue. Nissan won't do anything about it.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2019

2007 Nissan Pathfinder with 112,000 miles was driven to fred anderson Nissan in asheville for service regarding issues with the transmission shifting improperly. After waiting 4 hours, I was delivered a quote for over $7,000 regarding replacement of my radiator, transmission, thermostat, and airbag system. I purchased this vehicle 6 months ago with an extended warranty from flow Honda of winston-salem.

7 Power Train problem

Something wrong with the transmission.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2019

I had just bought this vehicle off of ebay from individuals in new braunfels , texas drove it back to amarillo , texas. I went to drop a load of items off at amarillo's giving closet for people in need. It ran perfect on the way over there. I turned the ignition off while I was unloading everything. When I went to start my vehicle it would not start although the lights and things would come on. The vehicle was later towed to a shop and I was told that it was being caused by the vehicle control. Now the transmission is messed up acts if there is no 1st or 2nd gear taking off in 3rd gear automatic transmission. Since then my husband was pinned under a seminar trailer he was working on and lost his leg. I can not afford to pay for another vehicle. Please help me. I was just informed of a problem with Nissan and this.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2018

The transmission started shifting rough. At 65 mph on i25 the tranny clanked, and dropped to first gear. I had to pull over, restart. It did it again, but had a burning smell. It threw the code p1774. A single dealership care for all maintenance work, on time for 10 years, did all recall type work. Fix quotes are coming back between $3500-$4500, which after buying a house and a surprise pregnancy I can't afford putting my livelihood at risk.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle shut down without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact called bill cole auto mall ashland at 606-29-2288 (2701 winchester Ave, ashland, ky 41101) and was informed that the vehicle was not under warranty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2017

I bought my 07 Pathfinder in July and the dealership had done repair on the radiator at their expense, and replaced the coolant and tranny fluids and stated there was no cross contamination. However, the vehicle stopped shifting properly and we couldn't tell if it was the tranny, abs, or 4wd getting caught. As of yesterday the tranny wouldn't change gears. Restarting the car helped. But since there was no recall there is no history of any other work. All maintenance was kept up with the same dealership for the majority of the vehicles life. After the vehicle has been at a stop, and moved to accelerate it wouldn't go into gear/drive then all of a sudden would ?catch? and would launch.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

Vehicle is currently at 200,000 miles. Without notice and under usual checks and tune-ups the radiator failed causing the engine coolant to mix with the transmission fluid. Now, subsequently the transmission has coolant mixed with transmission fluid. Nissan has taken no ownership of the defect except to recommend replacing the radiator at the owners expense. My vehicle is now in the shop awaiting a $3,500. 00 transmission overhaul to see what is salvageable.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

While driving the vehicle temperature gauge pegged out at the high side and there was a burning metal smell. I was told by two different mechanics that the radiator failed and leaked into the transmission. The vehicle is beyond the extended warranty that Nissan gave and they never contacted me to let me know that there even was an extended warranty.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2017

At around 91000 miles the transmission started sporadically staying in 2nd gear and would jerk at times when shifting . Finally the transmission quit shifting at all out of 2nd gear. After investigation we found coolant had leaked into the transmission. Which caused a catastrophic breakdown.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2017

Lost motive power lots of shuddering and hard shifting.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2017

I started having the problem with my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder on April 6, 2017 while I was driving home from work. It was shuddering and it wouldn't move when I stepped on the accelerator or put it in reverse. There were no warning signs before. I had it towed to my mechanic 45 min. Away. Later that day I learned that the radiator had broken and the water and gone into the transmission and destroyed the transmission. Someone told me that they had that same problem with their Nissan so I looked online and lo and behold. . . This was a big issue with Nissan. The Nissan dealer referred me to consumer affairs for Nissan. They told me that I would have to have it towed from my repair person down to the Nissan dealership to be evaluated. Consumer affairs for Nissan agreed to have me pay $3,000 copay and they would pay the rest even though my car was 2 weeks past the warranty date and it was 13,000 miles over. I, as a consumer, was never notified that this was an issue with my car. If I had, I probably would have replaced the radiator at $800 instead of the transmission and radiator for $5700. I am still out $3,000 which is a huge amount and two tows for my vehicle.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2017

Radiator failure with the transmission cooler, causing the failure of the transmission. Unit was in motion when failure occurred. When vehicle was shut down it would not longer start.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2016

Like so many others that I have been reading about . . . These radaitor tanks are horrible they crack and somehow are leaking coolant into the transmission causing further issues. . . Now I am upwards of 1000 dollars in repair cost. . . . It causes the 10amp at ecu fuse to blow everytime the car is started.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2016

Now on our 2nd radiator/transmission issue with our Nissan Pathfinder, the original repair was under warranty, but now experiencing same issues again. With both instances the car was being driven when issues occurred. Fortunately, the location to the repair shop is close. Our Pathfinder is currently in a repair shop under going diagnostics.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2016

My Pathfinder taking antifreeze inside of transmission fluid turning it to look like pepto bismol also my engine is taking in anti freeze also. There are recalls on this problem with their vehicles note my truck still run but it over heats tranny works too I've parked it for couple years now I haven't driven it to the point where it don't work.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

The SUV has always gone for service at the dealer and they never told us to watch out for the radiator passing water to transmision, and now that defective part has put water in my transmission it as damaged it.

22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

On Friday, August the 8th on the way to work on the interstate I accelerated going up a hill and the gear change in the transmission was extremely rough. It was like when a manual transmission is knocked out of gear, of course this vehicle is an automatic transmission. Like a manual transmission being knocked out of gear the vehicle had a very quick deceleration although I as still pressing the gas pedal. This almost caused the car behind me to rear end me. Eventually the vehicle acted like it went back in gear. When I exited off of the interstate, came to a stop at the end of the off ramp, and tried to accelerate the vehicle again acted like the motor was engaging but not the transmission, almost causing another rear end collision. I managed to get the vehicle to the parking lot at work. It set there for the day until I was leaving to go home. The vehicle would not start. The vdc and slip lights would come on when I attempted to start. I left the vehicle at work. I returned on Saturday. I got a auto code from the vehicle of p0717 referring to the turbine speed sensor. I found the 10 amp a/t ecu fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and the vehicle cranked but immediately blew the fuse again and would not start again if turned off. I left the vehicle and did some research finding the issue with the radiator fluid contaminating the transmission and causing the transmission to go out. My company mechanic and I looked at the vehicle on Monday and found the radiator empty of fluid and the transmission fluid contaminated. Someone is going to be severely injured id this issue is not brought to the owners of these vehicles. The vehicle is still sitting where I left it until I decide whether I am going to have to replace what I am sure is a bad transmission due to a faulty manufacturers design.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2016

3rd event. Driving at highway speed, engine loses power, will not accelerate over 30 mph. On previous events reverse remained useful and vehicle recovered. Taken to shop, told nothing could be found wrong and event did not recur on their test drive. Continued to drive vehicle many months, no issue. This event, car would not reverse and was driven to the home of my family where I was ending my vacation. Now stranded 4 hours from home. Called out from work tomorrow to research and decide what actions to take.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

Car would not start. Local mechanic could not figure out why. Towed 30 miles to dealership. Was told coolant leaked into transmission and would need to completely replace transmission at a cost of $5,000. Nissan knows this is an issue, however the mileage is too high for them to help me out at all.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

Anti freeze leak into transmission.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle independently shifted gears and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator fluid mixed with the transmission fluid and caused the transmission to become inoperable. As a result, the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000. The VIN was unavailable.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2016

We purchased a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder from carmax in pompano beach FL in 2012, during that time the car had 55,000 miles on it. We ask for the history of the vehicle and was told that everything was good with no issues, however a few years later I was driving and my car became inoperable with my 3 children in the car when I took it to the mechanic he expressed to me that this was a common issue with this particular vehicle and that there was even a lawsuit, but the company is not going to do anything. When I researched this information, it was discovered that these particular vehicles had an extended warrant on them up to 100,000 mile for a faulty radiator that leaks into the transmission ultimately destroying the transmission which was the case with us. We were out of a car for 2 months in a rental, maxed out the credit card up to 1,600 with a 4,000 dollar bill to repair the transmission. This was a tremendous financial hardship on the family. When I went to carmax and asked them why they did not disclose to us that there was an extended warranty, they had no real answer for me and stated that because the car was over 100,000 miles that they could not help me. I feel that carmax withheld information on this car and according to the state law it is required that they inform consumers of manufacture warranty on the vehicles. Since that time the car has had additional breakdown and we can no longer pay for a vehicle that is not working properly. E trapped in a vehicle that was a lemon form the beginning.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2016

Transmission is bucking and vibrating while in motion. I'm guessing I have month before it breaks down like all of the others.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

I was driving when my Nissan Pathfinder 2007 out right when I got in the middle of in intersection my car just didn't want to go I was pressing on the gas and it would go it then it would start going again but wouldn't go faster then 20mph then again it would stop n wouldnt move I took it to a shop to get it checked out they told me my radiator failed and cause liquid to go into my tramission which cause that to fail . . . So I called Nissan about the recall I read about fail radiator and tramission they told me they couldn't help me.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

The radiator is mixing anti-freeze and transmission fluid together and cycling it threw the whole engine.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2016

In April 2016 while driving on the highway the vehicle began to lose power. SUV managed to make another 10 miles or so until the slipping was to bad to continue driving. Stopped the car and allowerd it to cool. Opened the radiator cap and discovered that the trasmission flud and radiator fluid had mixed. The SUV is now at a repair shop and will not be covered due to be over the extended warranty mileage. I also own a 2008 Nissan frontier that is also succeptible to the same problem.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2016

On March 14th 2016. We purchased a Nissan Pathfinder 2007, on the day it was purchased? it shut down in the grocery store parking lot! we had it towed back to the dealer, got it back? and then the car shut down again in the middle of the street! in a high traffic area! my husband cant walk far because of his disability and we had to sit in the car and wait till the tow truck came! March 7,2017 the day after our first payment! the dealership then told us it was a leak in the radiator coolant hose due to some flaw in design! they told us it would cost 1500 minimum to fix! we owned the car less than a month! made one payment! and now we can't drive it or afford to fix it! because our vehicle has 100,000 miles Nissan, instead of just fixing their engine flaw?wants to charge us 3,000 dollars to fix it! we are on a fixed income both my husband and I are disabled, and financed into a truck that could have killed us! this needs to be a straight and fair recall with no cost to the consumer! this car could have shut down anywhere! leaving us stranded! or worse!.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2016

My car start to slip up so I done some research and found out that my transmission have coolant mix in it also open radiator cap and found milky looking coolant. My car have only 114000 miles. 3/2016.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2016

My SUV was diagnosed with a manufacturing defective transmisson and now has issues with the transmission cooler pipes splitting causing cross contamination between the radiator coolant & transmission fluid. Which resulted in a failure to the automatic transmission. The cross contamination had to have a new transmission, transmission cooler hoses & radiator replaced. I called Nissan corp and they are refusing to take responsibility I told them that they are putting familys in a dangerous situation. I also explained to them when I purchased my vehicle they where well aware of the situation but concealed that information from me and I let them know that I was pregnant at the time with our 4th child and needed the 3rd row thats why we traded, so I did not appreciate that information being concealed from me and putting my children in a unsafe vehicle. Nissan has caused me to almost wreck 3 times this has caused so much stress on me and my family. I have reached out to Nissan corp several times with they refused to fix it or return it and give me my money back. And also I delivered my baby 10 days later after I purchased the Pathfinder and the patherfinder had about 70,000 miles on it already so the transmisson could had easily went out at any time since it had known problems that were concealed from me and caused a very dangerous situation for me and my baby because when I bought the vehicle they concealed the information knowing that it could happen at anytime and refused to let me know even though my husband and I both asked if anything was wrong with the vehicle and they told us no they check the vehicles before they sale them by their mechanics. Something needs to be done before someone gets killed. My Pathfinder only has 123,000 miles on it.
