At first, the car wouldn't start occasionally. I replaced the battery and fuses. This helped temporarily. Now, the car won't start unless I place a new ecu fuse each time I attempt to start it. Changing the fuse will start the car, but it lacks power and is quick to stall out. When I took it to the mechanic, he discovered coolant in my transmission. After reading information from several websites, I realized this is an ongoing issue with this make/model of car.
Tl-the contract owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the check warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact attempted to reverse and shifted the gear shifter into reverse but the vehicle failed to move backwards. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that there was automatic transmission contamination due to anti freeze from the radiator. The technician also diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000. Oo.
Coolant leaked into transmission causing damage to transmission. Vehicle is in shop with estimate of $5000 for repairs. Mechanic stated it is difficult to find rebuilds and that this is one of the most expensive transmissions he has priced. He did some research and found that this is a common problem and makes is more difficult to get rebuilt transmissions. I initially had the coolant leak fixed and replaced the radiator. The transmission would shift rough and in three months time from coolant leak repairs, started to not shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Car in not safe to drive and was taken to mechanic.
Radiator failure allowed coolant to leak into the transmission both the transmission and radiator now need to be replaced. Nissan has known about this problem for a long time and has failed to issue a recall. Our vehicle dropped into 1st gear while driving and nearly resulted in us getting rear ended.
In October of 2015, while driving down the interstate, the vehicle lost power. It has happen 3 times since (the most recent being March 22, 2016). An independent repairman has look at the vehicle 3 times, but has not been able to identify the problem. Spoke with the Nissan dealership where purchased and they were not able to determine the issue over the phone. We did discuss the transmission/engine coolant mixing. Taking the vehicle to the dealership for further evaluation. They said it is not covered by warranty or recall. There was a class action lawsuit but our vehicle already had too many miles to be included.
Coolant aft cross contamination in the transmission and radiator.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle violently jerked forward without warning. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission fluid and anti freeze mixed together and the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 97,000. Ss.
I bought this vehicle new in 2007 as our 2nd new Nissan . Our first was a 2005 frontier with no problems and now this. I have been experiencing transmission problems. It slips when accellerating and somtimes wont down shift properly. So due to the problem I did a web search and found this cracked transmission line allowing coolant leak in to the transmission, so I checked the resevour and radiator and both had atf contamination. I then called the Nissan dealer and they claimed to have no idea what I could be talking about. The class action lawsuit filed in late 2012 stated that all dealers were notified. I was never notified and now have over 100,000 miles on my Pathfinder which opts me out of anything. This is rediculous and Nissan needs to be held accountable! they never even admited there was a problem just offered some extended warrenty coverage absolutely absurd! now im stuck with a vehicle I cant even drive.
As I was about to enter the highway my vehicle lost power, I was fortunate to be able to get off the on ramp and back to the frontage road before my car came to a complete stop. Took to a repair station where it was found the radiator failed and allowed fluid to mix with the transmission fluid. Transmission is a complete loss, although the cost of repair ($5200) is troubling, the fact that moments later my family and I could have been injured or caused someone else to be injured is the bigger issue. I have seen numerous complaints about this defect and feel the NHTSA should take a better look into making this a safety issue. At some point someone is going to die from this. Nissan has made a very un-reasonable attempt to address this issue.
I was just informed by a fellow Nissan owner about her transmission replacement. Why was I not notified by Nissan that there was an issue? no card, letter. . . Nothing! I would have had my car inspected for defect if I knew!!.
As I was driving the vehicle on the highway it started to shudder and shake and then finally completely turned off on the highway. Once I got it started again it would only go about 20mph I was able to move over to the shoulder and exit the highway. Once we took the car to the dealer, they told us that the radiator had leaked into the transmission and also that I needed to replace two catalyctic converters. The total repairs and replacements would cost me $8000 as I would also need to replace the transmission and radiator. We replaced the radiator but of course that is only half the problem. I still owe about $13k on the vehicle, have only had it for 8 months and am now stuck because I dont have the money to replace the transmission and I cant get rid of the truck knowing this problem.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that when shifting the vehicle would jerk violently. Eventually the contact's check engine light illuminated. With in minutes the contacts vehicle stalled and could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic. The mechanic stated that anti freeze fluid had seeped into the transmission. The mechanic stated he would need to replace the transmission and radiator. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 133,000. Az.
Radiator leaked anti-freeze into the transmission which destroyed the transmission and the entire coolant system. Nissan has known about this but never issued a recall.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the transmission exhibited severe vibration. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the radiator and flushed the transmission twice. The failure continued after the repair was performed. The mechanic recommended that the transmission be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
We purchased the vehicle 31 days ago under the assumption there were no major problems as it came from a small dealer lot. Two weeks after driving it, we noticed it has shifting problems between 3rd and 4th and at 40mph it vibrates. We took the vehicle to Nissan and had a diagnostics run on it which revealed the radiator coolant is leaking into the transmission, therefore causing the transmission to go bad. We contacted our warranty company, as we have a 90 day powertrain warranty and it is not covered at all. We contacted the dealer lot we purchased it from and so far, nothing is being done. I have done quite a bit of research on this issue and noticed several people have filed complaints about the same exact issue with these vehicles. Curious to know why a recall hasn't been issued yet?.
My 2007 Pathfinder has been shifting rough and sounds like I am driving across "rumble strips" used on the road to keep drivers awake. I went to the dealer to get an oil change and explained the issue. After they checked the car out they told me I had power steering fluid in my radiator and coolant in my power steering assembly. When I asked how that could possibly happen, the tech tried to assure me that this is what happens when radiator lines fail. I told them I had never heard of that and wanted to know how this could happen. They told me it would cost $5,250. 00 to replace the radiator. The service tech and service manager acted like they knew nothing and suggested I call Nissan north America. . . I did. They told me that since I had reported my issue to the better business bureau my case was sent to the arbitration department. The arbitration guy called and told me my vehicle was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. I did some research online and found that Nissan has known of this problem since 2005. Nissan lost a class action suit for this problem but the remedy was to extend the warranty for 100,000 miles. I'm confused because I do not understand how a manufacturer can warranty away a defect. From my research the average mileage for this problem is 112,000 miles. My car is slowly becoming non drivable. I accelerated out of a parking lot but the car moved out into traffic and started rumbling but would not accelerate any further. I almost got hit by another car. Why is the consumer responsible for a known defect? isn't a warranty for parts that are manufactured correctly?.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving at various speeds, an abnormal roaring sound emitted from the transmission. The transmission pulled when the vehicle was driving at a consistent speed. The dealer diagnosed that the antifreeze was mixing with the transmission. As a result, the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.
I bought the vehicle a year ago at 79,000 miles. In January of 2015, I hit the 100,000 mile mark and almost immediately started having transmission problems. Loud and jerky shifting and smelling foul in the air conditioner. Nissan dealership said that there was an issue and since I was out of warranty, (100,000 miles) that they weren't liable. He said I could drive it because it shouldn't break down for another few thousand miles. So I just parked it. I would only drive it if I absolutely had no other choice. Friday, may 15 2015 I was coming home from a doctors appointment and the vehicle completely broke down. The transmission went out and I was in the middle of a busy road with my 4 year old in the car with me. At 40 mph, the rpm was at almost 5,000. I pulled over to call my husband and when we put it in reverse to back out of the parking space, it wouldn't go into reverse. I had to tow it home and it's completely broken down. I don't have 4,000 to spend on a transmission and radiator.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission and the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
Baught a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder from sun Toyota npr. Paid 15000. Within the 1st year 4 tires,4 brakes, battery, radiator, and now the transmissiion locks up. . . Still owe 13000 what do I do. . . . Pay for a boat anchor or ruin my credit and let them repo it. . . . .
Radiator of my Nissan Pathfinder 2007 se failed. The radiator rusted/rotted away and spilled radiator fluid into the transmission, which then caused serious problems to the transmission and needing both replaced with new hoses, clamps etc.
Defective radiator caused coolant contamination with transmission fluid.
Have experiences shudder while driving over last few months. On date of incident, I pulled over after one such shudder, then continued and had no torque but was able to proceed, as if lower gears were no longer working. This issue continued while accelerating after every stop light and sign. Got home (with sick child) and shut down vehicle. Tried to start 30 minutes later and would not restart. Towed to mechanic.
Radiator cracked and mixing of coolant with transmission fluid. Radiator needed replaced.
Vehicle brought in for oil change at the Nissan dealer where purchased and serviced. Told that my transmission was suspect, may need to be replaced due to cross contamination of coolant and atf. Dealer would not address the problem.
Transmission on the Pathfinder was very rough shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. We returned it to a dealer, who said it needed a new transmission. It seems that this has been a very common problem, and it seemd the company should have done more to remedy the problem than just hoping the newest extended warranties ran out before the cars needed repairs.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 60 mph, the vehicle started to jerk violently and the vehicle reduced speed on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer more than five times and they were not able to replicate or diagnose the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer, who provided a transmission tune up and the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken back to the authorized dealer who diagnosed that there was a radiator leak into the transmission coolant and the dealer did not indicate where the fracture was coming from which was causing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
While driving on the highway we were intermittently losing power in the mountains leading to unsafe conditions due to mismatched speeds compared to the surrounding traffic.
I have a 2007 Pathfinder with 79. 541 mile I have the same problem alot of people on this site has with the radiator leaking into the transmission, I took it to the dealership for a oil change and they told me I have a radiator creak that leaking into my transmission and its dangerous to drive I cant drive it at all and they have to replace the radiator and transmission because it has a mix of color like brown so they told me they going to order the part I ask them for a rental car because I was going on vacation until my truck get fix they said they was going to try to get me one that was on June 30th and on Thursday July 3th they call me to pick up my truck because the engine light didnt come on so they want me to drive it until the engine light go on, remember a few days ago they told me not to drive it because it was dangerous to drive I think they want me to drive so it can go over the 8 years / 80. 000 mile warranty and pay a copay of $2,500 and I really dont have that money and I'm still paying for the truck they want me to take it out of they dearlership like that, I'm scare to drive it I have a daughter and my dog I take with me and scare something its going to happen to us please help me anyone thank you.
Transmission problems that everybody is complaining about has hit me as well. This is really bad that Nissan is not doing anything about. What is there to investigate? I don't understand, are all of these people out of their mind? this must be recalled and recalled fast.
Defective transmission. Nissan is responsible.
At 40 mph the vehicle would seem like it upshifted to a very high gear and then start to vibrate real bad. We took it in for an analysis and they told us immediately that the two fluids had mixed (trans and coolant).
I took my vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test and was informed that the coolant from the radiator was leaking into the transmission and vice versa. The service technician stated that this was a known issue with my particular make/model vehicle.
Checked the transmission fluid and it was white milky. Had it checked its a problem with the transmission cooler inside the radiator cracking and letting antifreeze get into transmission and it destroys it and it's up to $5000 to fix and lots of lost time and Nissan isn't doing a thing about it. And there are numerous people on the internet with same problem. Nissan should fix this at no cost to the owner !!!!!!!!.
Transmission stutters between 35-50 mph.
