Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Nissan Pathfinder - part 2

I recently purchased a new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder sl. The first day that I sat in the front passenger seat (day 2 of ownership), while my husband was driving, the front passenger air bag light illuminated stating that the air bag was off and would not deploy in a crash. I called the dealership and they stated that it was a known calibration problem with the Pathfinder's seat sensors and that there was no recall on my car, but that it needed to be recalibrated, which it was. After having the car back for 1 week, the air bag light would come on intermittently while I was sitting in the front passenger seat even though I was seated "properly" as described in the user's manual. The car went back to the dealer and even though there was no recall on my particular car, they replaced the seat sensors because it was a "safety issue. " two weeks after having the car back the light is once again coming on when I sit normal and upright in the passenger seat. The head technician at the dealership is now telling me that the car is acting in my best interest to intermittently turn off the airbag light when I am seated in the front passenger seat because of my size. I am a 5'4, 120 lb female. I feel that if I am sitting upright in the center of the seat, as a normal size adult, the airbag should not be disengaged. If it is calibrated to disengage for a 120lb adult seated properly, then it should consistently do so, not intermittently turn on and off without a change in position. Nissan has told me that it is functioning properly and there is nothing more that can be done.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while sitting at a traffic stop, the vehicle was crashed into on the driver's side and the air bag failed to deploy. The contact's vehicle was then struck by a second vehicle from the front. The air bags never deployed. As a result of the crash, the fuel pump began to leak. The police were notified and provided the contact with a police report. The contact was injured transported to the hospital for treatment of a head trauma. The vehicle was destroyed at the crash scene. The failure and current mileage was 28,000.

The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, she passed out behind the wheel. The vehicle continued to drive with her foot steadily depressing the accelerator pedal and the contact crashed into a telephone pole. Upon impact, the driver's side airbag did not deploy. The contact received injuries to the head and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. The police were contacted and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was deemed as destroyed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

Car veered off road to right unexplainable causing me to hit a guard rail dead on the end. Airbags never deployed either. I thought I did something but got the recall notice right after my accident. Unfortunately, I had already settled with the insurance company on a payout and they took possession of the car so I have no way of verifying that this is what caused it but I honestly believe it was!.

Driving a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder (owned since new) down a 4 lane highway at approx 45 mph. A pickup truck turned in front of my wife and she hit it broadside at approx 35mph. A few months after I purchased my vehicle in 2007, I was in a car accident. However, my front-air bags did not deploy although the air-bag light came on and is still on till this day. I took the vehicle in to a Nissan dealer and they told me that the light is on because the airbag sensor wiring harness was damaged. I asked the service manager if the airbag sensor would come on even thought he air-bags never deployed. The service manager said that it is possible that the airbag light will come on and the airbag sensor wiring harness was damaged eventhough the airbags never deployed. There is a current a recall on the airbag sensor for this vehicle. I called Nissan and they told me that the air-bag sensor was covered under their extended warranty on the sensor. However, when I contacted the dealership to have it replaced they told me that since the sensor came on as of a result of an accident it was not covered under the sensor recall. I don't understand why the air-bag sensor light is still on eventhough the airbags never deployed. This seems like some sort of failure in the airbag system of the vehicle and not due to the accident.

Mvc involving another vehicle which subsequently led to a collision with a 2 feet circumference electrical pole at approximately 40mph where the driver side airbag failed to deploy.

- the contact stated that while driving the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder withn current mileage at 106,947 the gas pedal became stuck. As a result of the gas pedal being stuck the vehicle crashed into a tree and a fence. Upon impact, the airbags nevered deployed.

Traveling 20-30mph, rear-ended the car in front of me. Damage to the interior of the car - side panel where the seat belt disappears into broke apart from the side frame causing me to come within 5 to 6" of the steering wheel and a bruise on the back of my left arm. I normally sit anywhere from 12 to 14 inches from the steering wheel. Damage to the exterior of the car - crushed radiator and bumper and grill assembly demolished; car was totaled. Air bags did not deploy upon impact.

I'm repulsed @ the gross disregard for safety & life of consumers my 99 Nissan --death trap hey im alive 3 crashes major steering lock up self acceleration problems electrical stalling shimmy seatbelts don't lock air bags do not deploy this vehicle is dangerous brakes lock up chronic check engine light issues despite numerous inquiries & complaints to Nissan they denied any similar complaints with any of their vehicles I have now found multiple foreign campaign recalls which Nissan north America was notified by manufacturers of components in their us vehicles by these foreign manufacturers many years later Nissan is advising service/safety bulletins however the consumer is not notified & even mislead as to safety issues upon inquiry keep track of your complaints to Nissan -when you call back they deny any prior complaints you made at least this has been my experience with Nissan consumer affairs ----------when the whole chasis mainframe is bent in 3 major mva,s front head on please again explain to me why the airbags fail to deploy & the seat belts don't lock it seems to depend on way 2 many reasons id like to know what would make them deploy your answer is no answer thanks for your compassion for human life mine was destroyed sincerely disabled do the right thing & spare another human travesty!.

Airbag failure 2 deploy x2 1st 2004 head on collision which lead 2 permanent disability & loss of my career of 20+ yrs police report stts airbags should have deployed & im lucky im not dead I filled this form prior I had substantial injuries however it states no injuries again in 2007 my child head on mva & again airbags did not deploy seat belts also failed to restrain help anyone with similar problem call me as I've only been told no complaints by Nissan I also noted 54+ service notifications of which none of I was notified Nissan does not recall their vehicles 1999 mv now recalled what do they need before they recall their vehicles looking 4 answers call me.

On April 7, 2004, my son and I were invlolved in an accident where the vehicle rolled front to back and side to side landing in the upright position and the air bags never deployed.

I was involved in an accident which caused extensive damage to the front of my car. I hit another vehicle at a speed of 50 mph. However, my airbags did not deploy which appears to be a major malfunction. I want the NHTSA to investigate Nissan for a serious product deficiency. Ak.

My sixteen year old son along with my seven year old son were driving my car when car started wobbling, he lost control going approximately 60 miles an hour, over corrected and went head first into trees and the air bag did not deploy. Fortunately my sons were wearing seatbelts and did not sustain any major injuries, just bumps and bruises. The car then hit on the drivers side after the frontal impact then hit on the rear. My car was totaled. At no time did the air bag on the drivers side deploy. If not for the seat belts, my children could have been seriously injured and my son driving did hit the steering wheel, and the air bag would have prevented this had it deployed. I would say this was definitely a defect with the car.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision on driver'sside at approximately 25-30 mph. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. Dealer/manufacturer were not notified at this time.

We were hit head on at 50+mph in our 1999 Nissan Pathfinder. The car was a total loss ,the air bags did not deploy. I contacted Nissan and was told that some times the air bags work,sometimes they dont and we cannot put that in the owners manual because consumers will ask ,why have airbags ?was told by Nissan that for airbags to deploy I would have to apply the brakes first before an unexspected head on collision. Myself my wife and our 21month old child were all injured. Nissan said they will mail us the supplement to the owners manual explaining why the airbags didnot go off, that does me a lot of good now that we are all injured.

Coming from a stop driver was about to make left hand turn when a heavy truck going approximately 60 mph hit front portion of vehicle, causing about $10,000 worth of damage. Also, upon impact, dual airbags did not deploy, causing minor injuries.

Vehicle was in a head-on collison with a pickup truck,and air bags did not deploy. Consumer sustained some injuries. Consumer was traveling at 50 mph.

Was in head on collision at approx. 50mph in new 2001 Nissan Pathfinder le. Vehicle had 600 miles on it and was leased. Vehicle pulled in front of me on 4 lane highway, I hit it head on. Airbags did not deploy. Body shop, police etc have all said that they should have deployed. Radiator was crushed and bumper and grill assembly were demolished. Also concern that seat belt did not tighten. Have been advised by body shop who does a lot of this type work that they recommend having it tested since in their professional opinion it should have deployed. I have back injury.

Air bags did not deploy on direct front end impact at 55 mph.

Consumer was driving on the highway, approximately 50-55 mph on wet road conditions all of sudden the vehicle hydroplaned, resulting in rollover, and vehicle landed in the middle of the divider. Air bags failed to deploy properly, causing chemical to leak out and partly deflate them. Dealer/manufacturer notified and refused to accept responsibility, seeking help from NHTSA.
