While driving 2003 Nissan Pathfinder I hit pothole on a city street, heard loud bang, shortly after completely lost all braking abilities, upon bringing my vehicle home and examining I notice the right front strut housing had separated from frame snapping the brake line on the right front. Appears to be the same corrosion issue as the recall on the left front strut housing.

Brakes failed. Took car to mechanic to repair 7/24/15. Mechanic replaced brake line and bled system but recommended we contact Nissan regarding severe corrosion in the right front strut housing area. The inner fender had pulled away causing the broken brake line. We were unaware of the extent of the corrosion until our mechanic pointed it out to us. We have photos of the area. We took the car to great neck Nissan on 9/2/15. After inspecting the car, they informed us that campaign #11v-244 would be repaired and that it had been previously repaired in 2011 at star Nissan of bayside, NY. The dealership had our vehicle from 9/2/15 until 9/9/15. On 9/8/15 they informed us that the car had additional front end issues that we would be responsible for, however, these issues would not have been a factor had the strut housing tower not been so severely defective. We had to tow our car home from the dealership because it had no brakes and was unsafe. The car is now sitting in our driveway unusable. We drove the car to the dealership and cannot drive it now (after campaign repair). Our mechanic inspected the repair and found the abs box not secured (bolt missing). The abs box moves substantially, it is supposed to be bolted to the top of the strut tower but it is not. In addition, the right front strut is leaking which is a direct result of the campaign issue. The left front sway bar link is broken due to the stress of the right front strut housing issue. We now have a vehicle that we cannot use that is otherwise in good condition. We have tried to resolve these issues with the dealership as well as with Nissan consumer affairs regional specialist but we were told that all associated issues are at the dealership's discretion. The dealership wants to charge us two hours labor to inspect the brakes but still deny the brake and suspension issues are related to the campaign.

I am writing as requested on our phone call on January 3 2015 as you are aware my wife and eleven year old daughter were nearly in an accident on December 15 2014. My 1999 Nissan Pathfinder had gone back to the dealer in 2014 as there was a recall on strut tower failure in high road salt sections of the country. They repaired the driver side strut tower and half of the passenger side tower the enclosed pictures show where they stopped the repair. This is where the tower failed. According to my mechanic if they had completed the procedure correctly this part of the tower would not have failed causing the brake lines to separate and break.

The vehicle has had all sorts of issues starting with the brakes when one brake shoe totally disintegrated and evidently ruptured brake lines at around 61,000 miles. New brake replacement almost $900. Since that time (the vehicle now has 75000 miles) the transmission has continually slipped, the gas gauges and all other gauges work intermittently, and the emissions test last month showed possible catalytic converter issues (there are evidently two). When taken in for service the service technician suggested I get rid of the vehicle because it was notorious for cross contamination of coolant and transmission fluid. Continuing to drive it would eventually destroy the transmission, and even now may have permanent damage. When contacting Nissan about possible recalls and the supposed settled class action lawsuit concerning the transmission contamination, I was told I would need documentation of all service done to the vehicle to receive $800 toward the necessary $3800 repair cost just for the contamination leak. If anyone is considering purchasing this or any other Nissan product, I would avoid it at all cost.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle became resistant to acceleration attempts as she attempted to accelerate from a traffic stop. The contact noticed that the front driver's side tire had become deflated. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the entire under-carriage an investigator would be sent to further access the failure because a component had fractured under the vehicle, causing the rim to become shredded and the brake lines to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and an investigation was pending. The failure and current mileages were approximately 1,400.

After a 1500 mile trip back from new york state I pressed the brake pedal while starting the car and putting it into drive and the pedal went to the floor and all brake fluid went onto the ground in my driveway. Due to extreme road conditions in the northeast salt and snow the brake lines in the rear of the vehical completely failed I lost both front and rear brakes at the same time. After a $1500 repair on both brake lines and exhaust the car was back on the road again. Now 3 years later the brake lines under the hood have failed thankfully in the driveway, all fluid lost and no brakes from or rear.
Brake line tube, thats the metal part of brake line, rust cause line to break while driving and leak-out all of the brake fluid.

The contact owns a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that she had the fuel filler tube in the vehicle replaced due to rust. Most recently, she received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 07v435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap) and is awaiting reimbursement from the manufacturer. While driving 25 mph, the brake line snapped and the vehicle was taken to the mechanic. The contact was informed that all the brake lines were rusted and bolted to the fuel lines, which were also rusted. In order for the mechanic to repair the brake lines, he would also have to repair the fuel lines at an estimated cost of $1,000. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and they stated that they would open a new file for her issue. The current and failure mileages were approximately 78,000.
