3 Brake Light On problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/30/2020

After using brakes either at a stop light or while driving, when I reapply the gas pedal nothing happens. The rpms stay at idle and the vehicle barely moves. Problem intermittent and unpredictable. It appears that the brake lights stay on when this is happening. I have even parked the car and turned off the vehicle and the brake lights stay on. Has happened when trying to accelerate onto a highway. Very dangerous! I have almost been rear ended at traffic lights.

4 Brake Light On problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

Vehicle will not accelerate when stopped at light, stop sign, switching from reverse to drive intermittently. This happens when it wants to. The brake light switch was replaced a couple weeks ago when the brake lights were noticed to not shut off and vehicle would turn on without pressing the brake pedal. Seemed to fix the situation but now again having the same issues. Bringing car back to Nissan dealer for repair. Found that years prior there was a safety recall but not for the 2015. This is very dangerous especially when pulling out in front of traffic. Car will not accelerate until brake pedal is pressed or letting off the gas pedal, then reengaging. This is in city or stopped then accelerating to ramp to get onto the highway. Brake lights stay on which is also hazardous when others wouldn't know when I'm actually stopping. The acceleration issue seems to happen when stopped then accelerating. The brake lights seem to stay on when they want to stick. The brake light is hard to turn off. Pressing the brake pedal when car is off a few times helped after 3 tries. Hard to know if brake lights are on constantly in the day but when it's darker out able to notice more.

7 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/20/2019

Brake lights stay on and vehicle has loss of power when trying to accelerate and the when brake lights go off it goes back to full power. This is a known issue with this model but it appears my VIN number isn't covered although it has the same issues as other 2013 Nissan Pathfinders. I have less than 61000 miles on the vehical.

9 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/13/2019

I had 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and my vehicle was inspected and passed with no issues in June 2019. The day of the accident, I drove all morning with no type of incidents. My niece, who lives on a hill was in the car with me and I picked her that morning from her house. She had to returned to her house later that morning for an item so I drove back up the hill, waited for her in her driveway, left her house and as I was driving down the hill I realized that my brakes was not functioning, my emergency brake light appeared and then all the lights on my dashboard turned on. The emergency brake wasn't working and I couldn't stop the car. I kept pressing my brakes and nothing was happening. It just kept going! at that point, I looked around to see the best place to crash. I came down the hill crossed over one of the main roads and steered my car into a fence and we hit a tree. All of my airbags deployed and I was grateful that both my niece and I had no major injuries. My vehicle was totaled by the insurance company. I had no issues with my brakes in the past! I did find out that there was a problem with the brake software in the 2013 and 2014 Nissan Pathfinders model-years and there was a recall. I bought my vehicle in 2014 however I never got a recall notice. I also had my vehicle service at a Nissan dealership and brake software failures was never communicated to me. Something went terribly wrong with my brakes or the software that day.

10 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/09/2019

Brake lamp relay went bad and brake lights remained on after removing foot from brake pedal. The problem occurred whether the vehicle was parked, running, driving. On or off. There is a recall on some Pathfinders, but ours is not one. Had to pay to repair myself. The recall needs to be extended to all Pathfinders.

11 Brake Light On problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

At random, little to no acceleration at initial take off and/or while driving in traffic on a highway or street even if pressing gas pedal to floor. Vehicle will start without pressing brake. Brake light remains on after car is turned off. I've had catalytic converter and brake work done to correct the problem to no avail. Also, I wanted to check speed control as a affected part but it wouldn't select.

12 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

Brake lights found to be staying on while car was parked in the garage, this causes the engine to reduce power potentially causing an accident if it reduces power while driving, or by following vehicle thinking that you are braking when you are trying to accelerate.

13 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/25/2019

The brake lights don't turn off. It dosen't matter if the c as r is in motion or the engine is off.

14 Brake Light On problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/19/2019

The brake lights remained on while driving and after the vehicle was shut off. At several points, the accelerator stopped working while driving, this happened on a four-lane street and on residential streets.

15 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/07/2019

My gear shift no longer works and I have been putting a screwdriver in to manually override it for over a year. Yesterday, I put the car in reverse and the brake wouldn't engage. I took my foot off and put it back on the brake and again the car continued to roll. I put it in park and restarted and it worked fine. I have read this may have to do with a brake light switch and this is also related to the shifting problem, but Nissan says there is no recall. I was putting up with the gear shift as I didn't think it was a safety risk but I definitely could have had an accident backing out of the parking space yesterday.

16 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

Brake lights stay on even after car is turned off and car will not accelerate momentarily intermittently. Also the rear hatch will not open.

17 Brake Light On problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/18/2019

Engine rattling, turned out to be a faulty radiator cooling fan. Needed to replace whole fan assembly after 50,000 miles. Intermittently brake lights will stay on when car is parked, draining the battery. Perhaps a brake relay switch. Also intermittently, the vehicle has severe issues accelerating. If going 40 mph, and attempt to accelerate, there is little to no response. From full stop, there is occasionally no response at all until releasing and reapplying the gas pedal. This is incredibly dangerous!.

18 Brake Light On problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

Three times this week we have tried to accelerate our vehicle with no response. In addition, three times this week the brake lights have stayed on after shutting the vehicle off. The brake lights will stay on until you operate the vehicle again. The one day we didnt notice for about 40 minutes. I have read there have been recalls for the 2013 and 2014 brake relay switch so I'm thinking this is the same issue.

19 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/11/2019

Driving 25 miles an hour on a town road accelerating and the car starts to slow down even if I continue to push the gas petal. The car slows down almost completely before I tapped the brakes and then the car shot and revved forward without touching the gas petal. Also the brake lights stay on even after the car is shut off. It does lile multiply times a day and I know that there was a recall on electric relay for sticking, my car is however not listed on the recall. This began in March and is making it unsafe to turn left in fear of the car not acclerating during oncoming traffic.

20 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/11/2019

While driving on the freeway the accelerator would suddenly not respond becoming a life hazard to my family and myself and also other drivers behind my vehicle; the cruise control also stop operating when this occurs. Also the brake light would illuminate without the brake pedal being depressed and with the car being off.

21 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

For several years, randomly when I would first start my car and drive the brake light would be on and when I hit the breaks a grinding noise could be heard. Since it was so random I often thought I hit the parking brake when I was previously getting out of the car because - if I pushed the parking brake down and restarted my car the light would go off and all would be well. Within the last two weeks this problem has been constantly reoccurring. This past weekend, restarting my car wouldn't correct the issue and was inoperable for several hours. After doing some research, I am aware that there was a recall for this issue on other Nissan models (armada, frontier, qx 56, titan). Here is a link to the video of my car https://drive. Google. Com/open?id=1bvk0lyx_-bs270qvm1zzhbex1wlv4ddd.

22 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/08/2018

Takata recall: I brought the vehicle new, and around the 4th year, I started to notice that the brake light would come on. The first few repairs the brakes pads changed, line, cylinder, and full brake replacement:, but the issue persisted over the years without any mechanic that could provide me with an explanation of this problem. My main reason for writing this is because of the inherent danger of this brake issue. This problem has occurred while I was driving at highway speeds. Talking to other owners in social media groups this brake issue seems to be an issue with the Pathfinder armada/titan models. This is a danger, please investigate.

23 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

My brake light would not go off. It caused my car to stall as I was driving, it eventually shut off and drained my battery. It was really scary. I took my car in for service at the Nissan dealership. They did a diagnostic test. As a result they replaced my switch assy. Stop lamp and relay. I was really upset to pay for a service that I did not cause. Especially when there was a recall out for the same model, make and of my car I did share with the Nissan customer service my issue.

24 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/18/2018

Last month, I noticed that when I was at a full stop, the vehicle would not always accelerate when I touched the gas pedal. I also noticed that when this happened, my brake lights would remain on and the cruise control would not work. This happened multiple times over the span of two weeks. After checking out the problem online, I became aware that on may 31, 2016, 79,853 2013-2014 Pathfinders were recalled for defective break light switches (campaign number: 16v380000). After taking my vehicle to my dealer, I was told that my issue stemmed from a defective break light switch and stop lamp relay - the exact same reason 79,853 Pathfinders were recalled in 2016 (please see attached pdf copy of receipt). Yet my vehicle was not part of that recall. When I pointed this out to my dealer I was told that it might be because my vehicle came off a different assembly line. Although I am no expert, this makes little sense, since the defective parts would be the same no matter where the vehicles were assembled. Therefore I am writing to inform you that more vehicles should probably be included in the brake light switch recall; particularly since this is a serious and potentially dangerous issue.

25 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

While stationary and moving my vehicle brake lights have stayed on even when I am out of the car and the car is off. I had an incident in which the ignition button was able to be turned on without my foot being on the pedal, as if the brake pedal was already pressed. The car stutters to accelerate after braking. I worked to have this addressed through Nissan after seeing a recall with similar issues on this year and model. Nissan rejected fixing the problem due to my VIN number not being associated with that recall. I had a diagnostic run by my local Nissan dealer which stated that the brake control and push button stater switch need replacing. I reference NHTSA campaign number: 16v380000 as similar to my case.

26 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/05/2017

I brought this vehicle in April of 2017, with 41,000 miles. I did not even have the vehicle a year before I noticed that when I am driving the vehicle it starts to stall at times, it does not pick up speed at all I have to push the accelerator two or three times before it picks up, and this happens at traffic lights and even when I'm on the interstate. I am really fearing for my life, because this is the only vehicle I have right now to drive. When I go to park the vehicle, and shut it off the brake lights stay on, and they don't go off. I have to get back in the vehicle move the vehicle and then shut it off. Sometimes I have to do this three or four times before the brake light goes off. I reported this issue to the Nissan dealership, who have told me there is no recall for this problem, and since it happens periodically through the day I have to keep making appointments, so they can try to find the problem. Very frustrating.

27 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

28 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/10/2017

Brake switch needed to be replaced due to brake lights remaining on/illuminated even when brake was not suppressed. Brake lights remain on when in motion as well as when the vehicle is stationary and also when the vehicle is off. As a result, there is no way for one to determine if/when the brakes are being applied. This issue also prevents the vehicle from accelerating. Both of these issues cause significant safety risks.

29 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

On sept 1, 2016, I was driving my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder on my daily commute to work 32 highway miles noticed the red brake light come on in the vehicle. I was surprised as my front & rear brakes were done in may 2016. On a 2 lane highway in the fast lane I decided to take my foot off the accelerator and tap the brakes to see if it would make the light go away. Much to my surprise the pedal went to the floor, I had no brakes! with a tractor trailer beside me, a car in front of me as well as behind me, after all it was rush hour traffic. I panicked! I thought this was it! not knowing what to do, I took my foot off the gas , put on my hazards and prayed, as the car began to slow down, I was tried to move into the right lane without accelerating. I was forced then to accelerate again to be able to switch lane and it was after doing so, I was able to get to what was a half of shoulder and ride down it until I was going slow enough I through it in park. Thinking back I should have used the emergency brake. Stranded on half of a shoulder for 45 minutes before the police showed up was terrifying. I thought for sure one of the tractor trailers was going to hit me. I was so close to the guardrail I could not exit my car. A tow truck took my disabled vehicle to my garage, only to find out that my brakes worked perfectly fine. No light was able to stop on a dime. I was not imagining they failed, they did not work! my mechanic, the owner of warren brake and tire for 40 years, what he was about to find out he has never heard. The computer gave a code of c1179 delta stroke sensor signal failure. When this happens it will cause intermittent brake failure. I consider myself lucky to be alive and I want action done not only to fix my vehicle but to look at all Nissans to prevent such an occurrence from happening again.

30 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/30/2016

Takata recall so yesterday while driving on the highway us 31 and it was raining I lost all functions of my brakes with my 3 year old daughter in the vehicle. This was the scariest experience ever I thought we were going to die. After coming to a complete stop and makeing a few phone calls I was advised to turn the vehicle off and turn it back on the brake light went off and brake functions started working properly. Really considering getting rid of my truck after this incident. We could have died.

31 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/13/2016

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. In addition, the fuel gauge displayed an incorrect reading. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that a fuel sensor float arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, a couple of months after the repairs while driving 60 mph, the brake warning light illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed and an abnormal noise emitted from the brake pedal as it depressed all the way to the floor, but failed to function. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was an intermittent brake failure and that the delta stroke sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who confirmed the failure and replaced the delta stroke sensor. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that an extended warranty campaign for the fuel system failure was available, but the vehicle exceeded the acceptable mileage. The failure mileage was 95,000.

32 Brake Light On problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/04/2015

I am writing to inform you of an intermittent brake failure/ un-commanded vehicle acceleration problem with the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. On April 4, 2015 I brought my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder to the Nissan austin northtown dealership (austin, TX) for scheduled maintenance, which included servicing/replacement of my brakes, pads, and fluids. In the three weeks since this service was completed I have encountered several brake failures in which: (1) the brakes failed to hold pressure resulting in the vehicle accelerating forward from a stop several feet, (2) the vehicle accelerated when applying brake pressure when attempting to slow the vehicle to a stop, (3) the brakes failed to act upon attempting to stop the vehicle from moving forward. These events have been intermittent and have occurred on the following dates: 04 Apr 2015 SUV exhibited un-commanded acceleration while holding brake at stop light 05 Apr 2015 SUV exhibited un-commanded acceleration while holding brake at stop light 08 Apr 2015 SUV exhibited un-commanded acceleration while holding brake at stop light 12 Apr 2015 SUV exhibited un-commanded acceleration while braking to a stop 13 Apr 2015 SUV brought to north town Nissan, mechanics unable to replicate event while Nissan mechanics have assured me that the events were coincidental, upon further investigation, I have learned that a customer experienced a similar event February 7, 2009, and has since filed a complaint with the national highway transportation safety board. I would greatly appreciate if you could further investigate this matter and contact me at your earliest convenience. I have been fortunate to have avoided several close accidents during which case my family was on board the vehicle. Myself, my family, or countless other lives may not be as fortunate if this matter is not promptly researched and resolved.

33 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

My brakes lights do not work. I have replaced all the bulbs and they are still is not working. There is a forum on the web regarding this same issue.

34 Brake Light On problem of the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/03/2012

There was a recall on the driver side strut tower due to server rusting. The dealership repaired that area. I was hearing a noise from the front right passenger side and found out that the rust had damage to that strut tower. My abs and brake lights finally come on and I had s lost of brake fluid. The strut tower colapse severing the right front brake line. The dealer inspected it and said that they would not repair this. I,m not sure why the left front strut tower would be covered and the right front in not. I had leased this vehical and when the lease expired we purchased the car outright. We heard about the recall when I had one remaining payment on the car. Now with the car paid in full it is no longer safe to drive.
