1 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/12/2026

My Pathfinder has 19798 miles and I was informed that the brake pads are 3mm or less need replaced and the rotor resurfaced. The front brakes are at 7mm at the same mileage. I do not tow anything and use for city and highway driving. My complaint is that at this rate I will have to change my rear brakes twice as often and have them inspected more often. The cost for brake replacement at twice the rate of front brakes is 2x. I am concerned that there is a design flaw that can lead to rear brakes failing if I do not have them inspected twice as often as the front brake wear. Typically the front brakes handle 60-70% of the breaking force due to weight transfer. If the rear brake pads are wearing out before the front brake pads, and the rotors need resurfaced it seems that heat buildup due to increased brake wear is affecting the rotors. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/11/2026

The rear brakes, especially the one on the passenger side, are worn out. I took it to the dealer and they tell me that it is normal, something that is not true.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/10/2026

Our brakes are making a sound & rough when braking. The dealership has not evidently inspected as should until today, when we told them to look at. Now they say our rear brakes need replacing, they are at a 1 & need attention immediately. Front brakes are good at a 6. We questioned them with 60,303 & we have never towed anything why the rear & not front, no explanation. I see in recalls/complaints where there are other 2024 Pathfinder owners with same/similar complaints: [xxx] ; [xxx] ; [xxx] . 4 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

My 2022 Nissan Pathfinder was purchased new and now has 27150 miles. On April 9 2026, I was having my summer tires installed and was told by the tire shop that the rear brakes were worn out and needed replacement. I contacted the Nissan dealership who quoted a cost of $570 for brake replacement. There was no warning lamps or other symptoms but there is only 3mm of brake pad left. Per the dealership, at 2mm the pads will begin grinding on the rotors. The vehicle has not been used to tow or used off road and the brake pads should last much longer then 27k miles. They, or the brake system components installed by Nissan, are obviously defective.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/23/2026

Vehicle: 2024 Nissan Pathfinder rock creek 4wd VIN: [xxx] mileage at failure: approximately 26,000 miles component: service brakes description: rear brake pads completely worn at 26,000 miles. Front brake pads remain in good condition with normal wear. Vehicle is driven under normal conditions — no towing, no off-road use, no aggressive driving. Rear brake pad part number d4060-6ta5b is the same part used across 2022-2025 Pathfinders. This pad cross-references to the Nissan altima, a sedan weighing approximately 3,400 lbs. The 2024 Pathfinder rock creek weighs over 4,600 lbs and is rated to tow 6,000 lbs. The pad is not engineered for this vehicle’s weight or intended use. The fact that front brakes show normal wear while rears are completely gone proves this is not a driving behavior issue. The rear brake system is receiving disproportionate braking force relative to the capacity of the pads installed. This is a known pattern across the 2022-2024 Pathfinder lineup. A class action lawsuit has been filed: [xxx] v. Nissan north America, inc. , case no. 3:25-cv-01183, [xxx] , filed 10/13/2025. Nhtsa has received multiple prior complaints documenting identical rear brake failure on 2022-2024 Pathfinders at mileages as low as 12,000 miles. Dealer (peters Nissan of nashua, [xxx] ) declined warranty repair. Nissan consumer affairs notified, case #xxx. Nissan classifies this as “normal wear and tear” despite failure occurring well within the 3-year/36,000-mile warranty period and despite front brakes showing no comparable wear. This is a safety defect. Premature rear brake failure without warning reduces stopping ability and puts the driver, passengers, and other motorists at risk. ???????????????? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

Vehicle has 65k miles on it and has already been through 2 sets going on 3 of brakes there has been maybe 6k miles put on it and the brakes are going and possibly rotors it feels like the brakes aren't fully releasing. I've seen alot of people complaing so I know its just not my imagination. It makes the vehicle seem like it takes longer to stop.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/09/2026

I own/lease a Nissan Pathfinder that currently has approximately 27,000 miles. At approximately 19,000 miles, the dealership resurfaced the brake rotors. The service department stated only that “sometimes it happens” and did not provide a diagnosis or explanation for the premature wear. Now, at approximately 27,000 miles, the dealership has informed me that the rear brake rotors and pads must be replaced due to excessive wear. This appears to be premature brake component failure on a relatively new vehicle. The vehicle is driven primarily on highways and is not used for towing or heavy loads. The early rotor resurfacing followed by rotor and pad replacement shortly afterward raises concerns about potential premature brake system wear or a possible defect in the braking system. Because brakes are a critical safety component, I am submitting this report so the issue can be reviewed to determine whether similar premature brake wear is occurring on other vehicles of this model.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/02/2026

I own a 2024 Nissan Pathfinder with approximately 24,000 miles. During a recent inspection, the rear brake pads were found to be completely worn while the front brake pads still have significant remaining life. This uneven wear pattern suggests the rear braking system may be performing a disproportionate amount of braking or may not be fully releasing. Premature rear brake wear at this mileage appears abnormal for a vehicle of this type and raises concerns about possible issues with brake force distribution, rear calipers, or electronic brake system operation. The dealership stated that the rear brake wear is “normal” and declined to repair it under warranty or goodwill. However, premature brake wear can present a safety concern if the braking system is not functioning as intended. I am submitting this complaint so the issue can be reviewed to determine whether other vehicles of the same model may experience similar premature rear brake wear or potential braking system defects.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/05/2026

I am driving the car in the highway when I tray to exit ,I see the red light semaforo in the end of the exit. Well I tray to stop the car and the brakes does' not work, and the air bag coming out before I hit the other car. My car in the front not have any damage. 11 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/04/2026

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph and attempting to come to a stop, the vehicle failed to decelerate sufficiently, resulting in a rear-end collision. Upon impact, the frontal air bags failed to fully deploy, as they only partially emerged from the housing. The vehicle's front bumper was a bit scratched. The failure experienced was a malfunction of the braking system that failed to stop the vehicle during deceleration, followed by a failure where the frontal air bags only partially deployed upon impact. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The dealer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/20/2026

Serious incident that happened. While we were driving heading uphill to the beach, the check engine light and multiple warnings suddenly appeared. It said 'transmission error' and 'engine power reduced,' and the car just shut down with the kids inside. We were at risk of the car rolling backwards. I really think this is a major safety issue tied to the vehicle's design or manufacturing. Second incident was also driving on the road and suddenly all the lights appeared again and the engine shut off on its own leaving me and the kids stuck on road. I wasn’t able to switch it to n to at least try to push it out the way! I was stuck in traffic and had to call road assistance to get the car towed home! at this point I’m scared to drive anywhere especially with my kids inside.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/17/2026

On my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder I have approximately 25000 miles on it. When I step on the brakes, there is a noticable vibration as if the rotors are warped and pads worn. The brakes and rotors should not be an issue this soon.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/21/2025

VIN 5n1dr3dk3sc307812 date of incident: December 21, 2025 location: I-295 south, merging onto I-95 south, jacksonville, FL vehicle: 2025 Nissan Pathfinder, VIN 5n1dr3dk3sc307812 owner: attiyah moore witness: alan moore phone number: 904-451-8295 email address: abmoore0504@yahoo. Com incident description: while driving on I-295 south, merging onto I-95 south at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The gas pedal became completely stuck to the floor, and I had to keep my foot on the brakes to try to slow the vehicle. Every time I lifted my foot off the brakes, the car would accelerate again. I had to gently pat the brakes repeatedly to slow the vehicle. Once I was finally able to slow the vehicle and bring it to a stop while keeping my foot on the brakes, I tried to shift the car into park, but it would not go into park and the gas pedal remained stuck to the floor. I had to turn off the engine completely before the gas pedal released and the car could be shifted into park. My husband, alan moore, was in the car and witnessed all of these events. This incident created a life-threatening situation. The vehicle had previously been taken to the dealership for fuel consumption issues, but no problem was found at that time. Additional information: the vehicle is unsafe to drive, and I am requesting immediate escalation to Nissan north America for buyback or replacement, as well as a loaner vehicle while this matter is under review. VIN: 5n1dr3dk3sc307812.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

The rear brakes are fully worn after 12k miles from purchased, by searching on internet, it seems a common issue but not being responded from Nissan yet.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/13/2025

I am reporting a concern regarding premature rear brake pad and rotor wear on a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder that appears inconsistent with mileage and normal driving conditions and may indicate a brake system design or control issue. The vehicle was purchased as Nissan certified pre-owned with approximately 4,000 miles and has received multiple Nissan dealer inspections with no brake concerns noted. A Nissan vehicle health report issued shortly before the issue indicated “no action required” for the brake system. At approximately 14,600 miles, a Nissan dealer measured the rear brake pads at approximately 3 mm, while the front brakes were still in good condition. A second inspection by an independent repair facility confirmed advanced rear brake wear and further determined that the rear brake rotors were damaged and not serviceable. The independent shop advised returning the vehicle to Nissan because the wear pattern was not consistent with mileage or normal driving behavior. Rear brakes wearing significantly faster than front brakes is atypical. The vehicle has not been used for aggressive driving, towing, or severe duty. A Nissan service advisor stated that they have seen early rear brake wear on Nissan Pathfinders and suggested it may be related to the auto hold brake feature. The auto hold feature is not used on this vehicle, raising concern that brake system logic, electronic parking brake behavior, or control software may be contributing to unintended brake application or drag. Premature rear brake and rotor wear could reduce braking effectiveness, increase stopping distance, and create a potential safety risk, especially if drivers are unaware of accelerated brake degradation. I am submitting this complaint to document a potential pattern of early rear brake system wear on this vehicle model for safety review.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/06/2025

First incident- volume kept rising on its own. Would turn it down, it would go right back up. Would turn the radio off, it would turn on by itself and would keep rising until full blast. Vehicle was parked, came back from work, turned vehicle on and the volume was fine on it. Second incident- (this has happened twice) about a month after the volume incident. This time the vehicle would accelerate by itself. No cruise control was on, vehicle would keep going faster and faster. First time this happened the vehicle needed to be towed, cops were involved. I finally was able to stop the vehicle at a red light (where it eventually broke down and would not start). Extended warranty covered the tow. There was no check engine light on. Replaced the battery as I was told the errors were pointing back to low voltage. After battery was replaced, maybe three weeks later the vehicle did the same thing on the highway again. Car speed kept increasing on its own, no cruise control or pedal input. Vehicle kept speeding. I took this vehicle to moon township, PA Nissan cochran dealership and they could not replicate the issue. I have video proof the first time this happened where the vehicle kept increasing in speed without pedal input. I have two kids under the age of [xxx] , this is an unsafe vehicle and it has lost my trust completely. The extended warranty company for this vehicle said they can’t do anything since the dealership says no check engine light is on. Third incident- got into vehicle, turned the vehicle on and the parking brake would not release. The parking brake was never applied in the first place so I have no clue how or why it was on when I turned the vehicle on. I just recently called the dealership on this issue now (moon township, Nissan cochran) and will see what they say. Again, no check engine light is present. I am at a loss on this vehicle. 2022 with only 45k miles on it and have never experienced this many issues with a vehicle before! it is unsafe. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of inf.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/03/2025

On three separate incidents my brakes have totally failed. I went to apply the brakes and the pedal went to the floor with no braking action at all. The most recent occurrence we were exiting a freeway and coming to a traffic signal. Our speed was approximately 45 mph and upon applying the brakes they completely failed. The pedal went to the floor. Thankfully we were able to cross the intersection without a collision and slow down on an uphill on ramp. .

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

Hello, my name is [xxx] . I need your help!! I bought a 2024 Nissan Pathfinder from carvana for $41,000. 00 at the end of November 2025 I reported some minor damage at the time we picked up the vehicle at caravan [xxx] . Never heard back. I've only owned this car for 4 months and now the brakes have been screaming and my dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree!!! all the tires are bald and the air conditioner does not work!!. Ughhh. I was on the phone with carvana this morning for almost 2 hours. . And ultimately there nothing they can do for me. One the 7 days of course is over the 100 day coverage is gone. I purchased xtra coverage but of course that doesn't cover anything that is wrong with the car. . . The car has been towed to a shop. . Waiting to hear what the bill is gonna be yikesss!! help!!! I feel I have been sold a lemon!! I'm not asking for anything just to repair this vehicle as it should have been before I bought. Selling a vehicle that is less than 2 years old in this condition is not good business practices. This is not right. 20 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/14/2025

I brought my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder in for an oil change and tire rotation at 33, 221 miles and was informed my rear brake pads were worn and my rotors needed to be re-surfaced. I understand this is a long standing issue with 2022 and 2023 Nissan Pathfinders. I rive 95% highway miles , never use my cruise control or electronic parking brake. I understand the rear brake pads are considerably smaller than the front pads causing an early wear issue. I also understand there is a class action law suit in the us district court of tennessee for this issue as well . I would like my complaint put on file and a case number sent to me for future reference. Regards, [xxx] sr. Sales manager jeneil biotech inc. 21 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/21/2025

VIN: 5n1dr3ac1rc239484 vehicle: 2024 Nissan Pathfinder defect description: the vehicle is experiencing a critical safety defect in its electronic brake force distribution (ebd) system, causing unprompted, aggressive application of the rear brakes. Safety risk: the aggressive, automatic braking occurs without driver input or obstruction, creating an immediate crash risk due to sudden, unpredictable deceleration in traffic. Resulting damage: this electronic malfunction has caused extreme, rapid, and uneven wear on the rear brake pads (measured at 2mm) while the front pads remain "like new. " manufacturer response: both the dealership and Nissan consumer affairs refuse to perform a warranty diagnostic on the electronic system. They insist on classifying this safety defect as simple, customer-paid "wear and tear," thereby avoiding the investigation of the underlying electronic malfunction. Request: I request the NHTSA open an investigation into the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder's ebd system for systemic failure resulting in unsafe, unprompted braking events and premature, dangerous brake failure.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/24/2025

The rear brakes are failing at unusually low miles with no indicator on the dashboard that they needed service. Basically we just started hearing a grinding noise. The Nissan dealer says this is normal for that vehicle, but I have never seen brakes begin to fail this soon under normal driving conditions and no indicators.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/22/2025

Premature wear on rear brakes and dealers tells there fine each time I’ve taken it in for service I don’t think they even test driven the car is shakes and vibrates when you brake at speeds higher than 30-40 mph. They advised me the battery needs replacing on the last service that it’s showing some sort of signs that needs to be replaced. The heated seats on the passenger side just stopped working all of a sudden. From what I can see online from forums and people complains these are common issues on this vehicle and they are pushed on the customer. I will see what can be covered under warranty but it seems only the seat issue would be covered. This needs to be addressed the brakes are too small and under powered for this size of a vehicle especially if you are towing. It appear they wear out prematurely if your using the cruise control which I don’t use a often or drive down mountain sides or tow at the moment so it doesn’t make sense I have a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder with less than 28000 miles. I will be taking the vehicle in soon to address these issues as the tech spoke to me about the battery only when I went in for an oil change and I refused the battery since the vehicle has not had any issue or sign or needing a battery and they would not cover it telling me it was more preventative.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/10/2025

I was informed of a need to replace worn rear brake pads and rotors due to excessive wear after just over 19,000 miles. Being treated as a wear item despite the fact that the issue is common and known by the manufacturer as an issue. After almost 3 years no recall has been done. Thankfully this was caught prior to the brakes entering a failing state.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/03/2025

Vehicle information •make: Nissan •model: Pathfinder •year: 2025 •mileage at incident: less than 2,800 miles •purchase date: may 2025 summary of problem: since purchase, the vehicle has had repeated brake failures, unintended acceleration, lighting malfunctions, and electronic system defects. Problems are intermittent but worsening, creating a serious safety risk. Details of incidents: 1. Steering / handling: •since day one, steering feels loose and “floating” at highway speeds. 2. Parking assist & braking: •parking assist randomly activates upon startup with all sensors lit and beeping, requiring a restart to clear. •in garage, parking assist sometimes locks brakes, then suddenly accelerates toward wall. 3. Braking / acceleration failures (sept. 3-4 2025): •while driving brakes did not slow vehicle despite increased pedal pressure; required slamming pedal to lock brakes. •on highway 65–70 mph, while pressing brake to slow for exit, vehicle accelerated past 73 mph before decelerating. 4. Lighting failure: •twice, headlights failed to activate in auto mode. First incident resulted in driver being pulled over; restarting car restored lights. Second incident at dusk—only high beams worked; no low beams despite auto mode being on. 5. Other electrical / mechanical defects: •passenger mirror sometimes stuck in folded position; driver mirror opens slowly. •front windows occasionally fail to open/close or move very slowly. •apple carplay forces return to carplay screen, won’t allow switching to other apps; defaults to am/fm radio at startup. •clicking sound from dashboard when ac is running. •ac intermittently blows hot air instead of cold. •auto start/stop feature reactivates itself after being manually turned off. •vehicle shakes noticeably when idling or starting, worsening. Frequency: since vehicle purchase in may 2025. Braking/acceleration failures happened multiple times. Safety risk: loss of braking, unintended acceleration, &lighting failures present a serious risk.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/02/2025

Incident 1: rear brakes needing replaced within 30,000 miles. Rear brakes at that mileage is unheard of. Incident 2: coil packs failing and leaving me stranded. 34,000 miles incident 3: most recent at 44,000 the flex plate is now broken. With a simple internet search the flex plate is a reoccurring issue that a lot of motorist are experiencing.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/23/2025

The contact owned a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the abs warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the abs system needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact believed that the abs system was not calibrated due to the abs warning light re-illuminated. On another occasion, the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 - 75 mph, a vehicle in the middle lane switched to the last left lane, and the contact maneuvered the vehicle to the middle lane due to the collision avoidance alarm activating. The tires spun out of control, and the front brakes failed and locked. The vehicle skidded and crashed head-on into a semi truck. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. The contact sustained a traumatic brain injury (tbi), and medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.  .

28 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

Rear break pads and tires required to be replaced with 20k miles on the odometer. The vehicle is serviced regularly and well maintained. It is a very known issue that the vehicles weight causes abnormal and quick wear for the rear break pads. This is a major safety concern and needs to be addressed by Nissan as they do not provide a standard lifespan for these components that you would normally expect. This issue poises a higher risk of accidents, injuries, or death. Especially for someone that doesn’t know vehicles well.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

The vehicle has just under 20,000 miles and when reversing is getting a high pitched squeak. There are a ton of online forums where other owners of a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder are stating they're being told that the rear brake pads are literally worn down to metal while the front brakes are perfectly fine. This is clearly a defect of some sort where the brake system should not be malfunctioning like this.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/16/2025

If you have your light set in another position other than auto set, your break lights do not com on. I was getting ready to travel on a trip to georgia from texas. I pulled into a gas station when a lady pulled up beside me and said that your break lights are not working. Sure enough they were not working! after a while of checking the different lighting setting we found that the break lights only work in the automatic mode. This was reported to clark Nissan at abilene, texas. They reported that they have found this to be true and found all of the Nissan cars in their lot worked like this. I was advise that they were reporting this to their head office. In the mean time for me to keep the switch in auto setting. (break lights should never be disengaged).

33 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/21/2025

Front brake calipers get hot and started smoking. During simple highway travel no hard bracing and cruise control set. I’m not sure if the issue is with the two front calipers themselves or with the master cylinder or some other components that would cause both front brake calipers do this at the same time!.

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/10/2025

Back brake lights stay on. Seems like brakes are stuck as I can start my car without pressing the brakes and can get it out of the park position without having to push the brakes. I had to disconnect my battery to keep it from being drained. The was a recall back in 2021. I contacted Nissan and they said the issue was fixed. The will not pay for repair because it falls under a warranty that I don’t have. If the PA manufacturer name : Nissan north America, inc. Nhtsa recall no. / mfr recall no. : 21v-020 / pc786 recall subject : brake light switch relay may stick.

35 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/15/2025

I have 44k miles and had to replace my rear brakes 4 times. I paid for them twice and Nissan covered the cost the first time when they ran out at 7k miles and the last time the replaced the rear brakes and rotors. There is something seriously wrong with the rear brake being undersized. I had a 2015 Pathfinder and on average got 41k per brake set.
