Car Stall Problems of Nissan Pathfinder - part 2

2005 Nissan Pathfinder was locking up & stalling at low speeds June 2013. I took it to Nissan & paid $400 for supposedly a bad camshaft & bad crankshaft. Not more than a month later the vehicle is stalling yet again. Furious I took my vehicle to a non Nissan dealer. The other mechanic felt ecm recall & faulty ecm was the cause. He took it back to Nissan & insisted the do the recalled part & the bad ecm. Service was upset that he went in there telling them the problem. They free of charge got my car going again. Supposedly my key had "reset" itself. Which "could be caused by a battery being dead for too long or being jump started". Our battery was new & only maybe 6 months old. Nissan service manager claimed she checked the ground & it was all ok. Just the catalytic converters needed replacement for about $2000 but were not the cause of stalling or the key resetting itself. She insisted the ecm was good & the recalled part had nothing to do with it. A week later & here I am again with a car that wont start. This time the Nissan tech came to the store where I was stranded at. His machine couldn't even read the codes & he said maybe it was ground wires in my dash or the ecm but hard to say unless I paid to have it looked at again! of course I have no choice but for them to look at it. I wouldn't mind as most for minor repairs/maitenance but it seems this year/model is pure crap. After reading other complaints I realize that my car shaking at 60+ miles when I do hit the freeway is a huge problem as well! we live in a small town where we don't usually drive those high speeds so I never really thought much of it until now. Nissan knows very well these are huge problem cars yet doesn't care! these vehicles are not safe. The stalling has happened at intersections or driving!!.

About 4 â½ hours into our return trip on Friday, March 29, I was driving on i295 around the city of richmond, va. We were in heavy traffic travelling about 75 mph when our car backfired. My wife and I looked at each other, and nothing seemed to happen to the car. So we continued driving thinking the backfire was a noise from a source other than our car. However, when I braked shortly thereafter because of traffic buildup the car stalled at 40 mph. I was stunned but quickly responded by restarting the car. From that point on the car repeatedly stalled each time we braked and/or reduced speed.

I am being told that my transmission is going out due to a faulty transmission Nissan installed in the 2006 Pathfinders. They are telling me this is very common in the Pathfinders and after much research I am seeing that I am not alone.

I was driving with my 15 year old daughter from my home in sanford, FL to clermont, FL to visit my mom at the nursing home. While I was on the expressway 408 the vehicle began to stall and bog down causing the vehicles behind me to slowed down abruptly almost causing a chain reaction accident. I was terrified. I slowly made my way off the expressway onto state road 50 then the vehicle would not go at all. I called my husband and he told me to put my hazzard lights on turn the vehicle off and then try again. This worked but I was only able to go 20 mph, however the speed limit was 50 mph. At one point I was on a hill and the vehicle began rolling backwards almost crashing into the vehicle behind me. I was able to make it to the nursing home where I parked the vehicle then my husband came and towed it back home where it now sits, we have to hold Nissan responsible for their flaws. It's not fair that my life, my child's life and the life of other drivers were in danger because of Nissan's irresponsibilty. I want the transmission on my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder replaced with a new transmission.

Car stalled at red light, smoking from hood took to mechanics advised of transmission failure, leaking brown stuff.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact restarted the vehicle but the vehicle would not move. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.

My Nissan Pathfinder 2005 stall and wont acclerate I put a new engine 3500 a new gas pump350 a vale body 2000 now they want put another part 1600.

In October of 2011, my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder began violently vibrating on the highway when I reached 60 mph. Sometimes it would stop when I let up off the gas. Other times it would continue to shake. After repeated visits to the mechanics and new tires, rotations, brakes and balancing, we decided to go to a transmission shop. They discovered that there was coolant that had mixed with the transmission fluid. As a matter of fact he had 5 Nissan Pathfinders on his lot with the same problem. After multiple searches, we discovered that there were hundreds of entries of Pathfinder owners with this same problem. Eventually, the car started to stall in the middle of the road. Very dangerous! I have taken the car to Nissan in my town and contacted corporate. I will be filing a civil suit if they do not agree to pay and fix my car that I have had for only 3 years.

Car either stalls out, turns off, or rapidly decelerates at random times. Transmission not shifting or staying in gear properly causing near collisions on several accounts, stalling in the middle of intersections, etc. . . Mechanic said coolant in transmission and transmission fluid in coolant system. Seems to be triggering multiple mechanical failures codes from transmission, to misfires, to O2 sensors. Afraid to drive. It's been sitting parked for multiple months very dangerous!.

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving 50 mph the car jerks and feels as though as it's going to stall without warning; also the air bag light illuminates. The vehicle was taken to Nissan dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor module needed to be replaced. The vehicle did receive repair for the air bag failure, however the failure has recurred. The vehicles jerking problem has also recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 100,000. Kh.

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder started stalling last week. I would be driving on the highway and it would just go dead making it near impossible to turn the steering wheel. I was towed to the Nissan dealership whom informed me it was an ipdm issue which was in the process of a recall. I informed them I was strapped for money being it was a 700 dollar job. They said chances were it would be covered. It was not covered! I was informed by their consumer affair people if there was infact a recall I may be notified for reimbursement. I have found on numerous sites that it is recalled but because I did not receive a letter it is not their problem. This is not the first issue I've had with Nissan. A fuel sensor issue was found and they covered nothing telling me it was not a safety issue. I was out of warranty so tough luck. Another 377. 00 bucks. Please investigate Nissans practices. I will never trust the Nissan name again.

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently stall without warning when driving 35 mph and above. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed her that the ecm relay switch was failing. The contact stated that the ecm was previously replaced for the failure. The manufacturer and advised that they would return her call within the next twenty four hours. The failure mileage was 88,000.

I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. In August of 2009, when the vehicle was 4 years old, it started stalling randomly every 15-30 miles. Eventually, after several trips to the dealership, it was determined that the ipdm module was defective, and was replaced. This took care of the problem. I talked to the dealership and Nissan, and was told this only affected my vehicle. However, a recall was just issued for this problem. This is an extremely dangerous problem. The first time it happened to us, I was driving back home with my family from a camping trip in big bear, California. Our vehicle was fully loaded down with passengers and camping gear on a large downhill grade when it stalled. Since the power brakes went out, it took a long time to get the vehicle to stop by holding the brakes and the emergency brake, and finally coming to a portion of the road that was no longer downhill. If this happens in the wrong place, this failure could cause a crash, serious injury, or death. Also, when the problem occurs when you are driving, the vehicle cannot be restarted while rolling by placing the vehicle in neutral and turning the key for the starter. The key must be fully turned to the off position for a few seconds,and then back on. Once the key is off, the steering wheel locks, so you probably won't be able to restart it when rolling. Please make sure Nissan corrects all of the vehicles that are affected!!!!!!!.

Consumer complained about starting vehicle and intermittent stalling while driving at various speed of 0-35 mph. Vehicle had been to the dealer on three separate occasions and they were unable to duplicate the problem.

Intermittently vehicle will stall out and die without warning. Dealer has inspected vehicle and could not duplicate or correct problem.
