1 Engine Failure problem of the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/28/2023

Too long for this space, I have attached a pdf with all the information also attached "work order" picture of vehicle being towed, then pictures of the alerts these were from Sunday but were the same from Saturday through Monday. Please look into this as I believe it is a serious issue that a brand new car has 2 engine failures in the middle of highways! I am highly concerned it may be another issure than the battery and I want them to be recalled and safe for everyone!!! they will have this car back on lot for sale probably today!!! please help.

2 Engine Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

While vehicle is in motion, the engine will all of a sudden seize. This has happened 5 times, 2 times on the freeway at 55 - 65 mph, seized in motion, stepped all the way down on gas after engine seized, engine revs, hardly any power, almost down to 10 mph in less than 10 seconds. Both times, was afternoon rush hour and while trying to get to the shoulder lane, I had to cross 2-3 lanes of very fast traffic, dropping to roughly 10 mph, barely missing impact with other cars, both times. The other 2 times, I was yielding while making a corner and the car seized, same spot and same experience as the freeway, what feels like almost complete engine failure. 5th time happened today, making a corner, tried to excel, engine reved and seized. All times, the engine light came on prior to. Please note, there was a recall for what appears to be the same issue, nhsta recall 11v-592. When I checked with Nissan and dealer, they both said my VIN wasn't part of the recall, but I'm experiencing the same issue described in the recall. This is a major accident waiting to happen.

3 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/03/2016

The timing chain is a known issue with Nissan USA. My timing chain has to be replaced at my cost due to its faulty design. Engine failure due to the timing chain while driving and turning, left my wife stranded. This item needs to be recalled by Nissan as there are thousands of complaints about this issue just after warranty expires.

4 Engine Failure problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/19/2014

2006 Nissan Pathfinder with just over 60,000 miles. Started engine whine that measured with engine speed. Found to be timing chain guides and TSB exists. Cost over $1500 to repair. If left unaddressed, catastrophic engine failure at speeds can occur and driver and passenger safety at risk.

5 Engine Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/26/2013

********basically we traded in our 2012 Pathfinder for the 2013 Pathfinder on April 2013. ************* we immediately noticed some flaws with the vehicle. My experience with the vehicle began to shudder at low speed every once in a while. Also the hood will shake while driving over 40mph. , as if it wanted to fly off. I called Nissan dealerships, spoke with service managers and they stated that Nissan is aware of the issue and working on issuing a recall. Their advice was to continue driving vehicle as normal, shouldn't result any damage. Oh, were they wrong! it's been about a year with this vehicle and the problem not only continues but, has become worse. I can't drive 5 mph without the vehicle shuddering recklessly, as if part of the engine wants to fall off. Well, now I have a new issue, on startup my vehicle throws white/gray smoke as if a bomb blew up. This is so embarrassing. I immediately took the vehicle to the dealer, they came back to say they found "sludge" in the engine, that it has to be replaced! ok, but according to Nissan they are not going to cover this, since they assume we are liable. We have maintained this vehicle properly and if this engine failed and covered in sludge, that has to be a recall. At, this point in time Nissan has communicated with me one time in a week. I spoke to the service manager, he's not very helpful in trying to resolve this issue. He just advised that we sell the vehicle back to Nissan. Unbelievable, this has become a total nightmare, I overheard some workers at the dealers discussing issues about the 2013 Pathfinder, they are aware of the issues this vehicles has, but their main goal is to sell. Not inform the consumers about this piece of crap!!!.

6 Engine Failure problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/25/2009

This complaint relates to a widespread manufacturing defect in Nissan Pathfinder and frontier models in production and sale prior to 2008. The issue is the failure of timing chain mechanisms due to inferior quality plastic guides that have failed on a huge scale worldwide. Nissan's recognition of this problem was reflected in TSB nos. Ntb07-042 and ntb07-042a. Recognizing the design flaw, Nissan changed the parts in 2008 and forward. Outside of warranty times, Nissan refuses to repair or replace the relevant parts and, apparently, has not notified customers of the potential problem of catastrophic engine failure that could result in accidents involving serious injury or death as a result of sudden engine failure. As documented on the internet, many failures of these components are occurring post-warranty and most consumers have no knowledge of the impending dangers because Nissan appears to have not publicly acknowledged the problem. For those customers who do become aware of the problem post-warranty, they are facing repair costs of approximately $2500. 00 which is an economic burden placed upon them by Nissan emanating from Nissan's own internally-recognized design flaw. Request is hereby made that this situation be investigated and that Nissan be held responsible and accountable for the economic and safety dangers it has perpetrated by its admitted design flaws. Our own 2005 Nissan Pathfinder is facing this problem at the present time. At a minimum, Nissan should be required to advise all owners of the relevant vehicles about the need to avoid engine failure, especially for the large number of affected parties who are post-warranty and unaware of the problem. The NHTSA should also determine the number of parts failures pre- and post-warranty.
